Just one quick question Dan... Now that you have openly admitted your pool shark tendancies.. In the APAT spirit are you going to play left handed or blindfolded, to give the others a chance at Notts?

Good luck with the blog will be keeping a keen eye on it.

To make life easier ill just post you Jan"s Graph.

Im currently playing NL5 6 Max Zoom, and last month volume was AWFUL!  I was prett down in the dumps about being out of work for 3 months and had zero motivation to play poker for long periods of time.

You"ll also notice that near the end, when feeling useless, i went on a downswong that adjusted itself at the end...funny that eh.

Hands wise i have no volume to aim for, but just want to make sure i maintain Silverstar status this month and get my bb/100 back into double figures.  NL5 is soooo soft, that ill be pushing for 15-20 bb/100 minimum this month.

Any other "Zoomers" lurking on APAT? and if so let us know :) that way i can make sure im not always playing vs you with the bottom of my range :)

Other News:

Regged for WCOAP Events

Razz
HORSE
Main Event Day 1b
Heads Up
6 Max

To make it all affordable i have sold a % of myself, but this is useful as its not a cheap weekend!  Not with hotel, petrol, food, drink etc (have to bink something :P :P)

Looking forward to the sats for the High Roller (as this is an event id be pretty stoked to play) and looking forward to sharing a house/room/chateu with some of the APAT posse that ive never met before.

A busy week for me this week, as we have the start of the Podcasts online leagues (Mixed Games and Holdem) on a "site that wont be named" although if they go well i will certainly be keen to get them played on APAT.com so you reg"s can get involved.  Also am recording Feb"s edition of the In The Muck Poker Podcast, and have a few other Podcast related ventures to take care of.

Busy Busy

Enjoy yourselves and GL at the tables

Will follow with interest.  Especially interested in 6-max Speed (on ipoker) Poker strategy chat, as it is great for earning reward points on my main poker site if I can break even or better.  Used to play pub pool leagues but nothing better than that.  Massively inconsistent, flashier than my base-level skill ever backed up, but used to love playing.

Well.....what a crazy week!

Seems life is turning round!! ;)

Many of you wont know that the last 6 months of 2012 was an absolute nightmare, resulting in many a grey hair and raised voice in the s4ooter home  :-\

The Tl;Dr version is as follows:

Made Redundant
Housemates rack up £30k debt
Move back to family home with GF
Car Blows Up
Test Drive new car and Tesco van writes it off with me in it
Constant problems with my back
Made redundant again

Merry Xmas!!

So definatly a testing time for all people concerned, but lets get on with the GOOD NEWS!!!

Started a new job on the 1st Feb, its nothing to write home about but it fits a few criteria:

1) Its a Job
2) It pays
3) Its close to home
4) Did i say its a job???

Also this week i had a pleasent suprise when i checked my depleted bank account and BOOOOM!!! my insurance payout money was in there!!!

Bought myself a car, which means i can give back my Sister in Law her"s (she lent it to me the whole time to help out ~ 3 months....thanks!!) its only a lil R reg 1.4 Ford Puma in Purple (90"s Retro Sports Cars FTW  ::)) but its all ready to rock and roll!!

Pokerwise, ive been pretty quiet tbh, and havent played a single hand of NL5 this month yet.  (http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/1239704331_gina-carano_zps0f15aa9b.gif)

However things such as the podcast have kept me busy :)  Febs edition has just been recorded and should be up Monday as well as the debut week of our In The Muck Poker Online Leagues which went pretty well.

Poor old Steve Redfern, i think ive lost any chance of playing for England now, after crushing him twice in Luton i also bust him from BOTH ITM Games....ooops

Im not gonna spam ITM stuff here, but thanks for all the APAT"rs that took part i hope it was an enjoyable night of cards and hopefully next week will be even busier :)

In other news, my good friend and Co-Presenter, Tom Piccirilli has managed to satalite into EPT London for the second year running!!!  He was won a £5.3k seat for ~ £20 this year....Winning a £10r sub sat and then a £215 Double Shootout Bounty this time around.
He also won a seat last year for about the same...he is 1 sick puppy!!! GL sir!!

Finally, have been offered some cash game staking so i can move up and away from NL5 and get back to NL25/50 pretty quick, so that is in discussions....lets hope we can win some $$$$ eh!!

Anyways must dash!

Keep Well

WCOAP 2013 TR

Please be aware this will be proberly a TL;DR post for most of you!

Thursday:

After an early morning wake up call i say my goodbyes to the better half, dog etc and jump in the car to avoid traffic and tbh i felt like a kid at xmas.  After a torrid year i was looking forward to the festival a lot more than i usually would so couldnt wait to get on the road.

Arriving in Gotham (yes, what a cool village name) i am greeted by Dave Howard and Chris Webber in our little house that we have rented for the week.  Firstly i must say thanks to DH for arranging this, as i must say it was such a great idea to actually not have to be stuck between the cardroom and a hotel room all day every day.

It didnt take long for the degen in us to come out and, whilst awaiting the arrival of our 4th member (Dave Pilkington aka Funtime Kev) we decided to hit the shop and stock up on supplies.  Kev arrives and myself and Chris decided to play Whist and 8 Card for 10p a point.  Now i had learnt the games upon arrival but was more than happy to start splashing the cash and managed to crush Chris by 50 points (god knows how) and book my 1st win of the series. :)

The whole house were regged for the Stud event, and Chris" 30 min read of Stud Super System seemed crucial as he cruised to the FT finishing 6th.  Pretty impressive performance for his 2nd ever game of stud.  This also put the pressure on the house as he runs into the lead in our "POTS" Bet (although only myself and DH have money on this side bet).
I, however, had to watch all these people making monsters whilst i made a pair twice in a silly amount of hours!

I also get a stint with Tighty commentating on the Team Omaha SNG, which was great fun but less than exciting for the viewer as most players had been told to nit it up (quite rightly so) by their captains and the graphics kept playing up.  Still think i managed to trundle through that unscatched!

We return to the house, and find ourselves playing 4 handed cash games till the very early hours.  The games of choice being OXO and Irish Poker.

For those that havent heard of these before i will give a brief run down.........

OXO - a 5 card omaha game in which the final board mimics a Noughts and Crosses board.  The flop are the 4 corner cards, the turn are the four cards that fills the gaps and the river the centre card.  This means that there are 8 boards you can play to win.

Irish - Same as Holdem but you start with 3 cards and discard 1 on the flop.

Stakes are 5p/10p and the games are pot limit, however that doesnt stop numerous straddles and a silly amount of the money being flung around the table.

After back to back quad 2s in OXO i manage to book a 450bb win, as well as "Kev" winning 1 decent pot (50bb) and then nitting it up to lock his profit (earning the "Funtime" element of his new name!)

Friday:

Wake up with the worst migrane i have ever experienced, sigh, but the house in high spirits and eager to crack the 6 max.  All 4 housemates regged and ready, i find my table and cant say im overly chuffed with it as find Dean Pearson, Adam Sharples and 2 others that i dont know names of, but know there quality.  Normally i would revel in a tough table, but with a bad head i woulda rathered a table full of soft players so i have no decisions to make.

I kinda get my wish as i manage to chip up ok early on and then become card dead for what felt like an eternity.  Playing 16bbs it folds to Adams btn and he raises again, i see  Kd 10h and it looks like Aces....i reship the SB as feel he knows i havent played a hand in a while.  Sadly i am against the top of his range   Ad Kh but get there on the river to bust him (UL Pal)

As the bubble approaches i have double average (100k) and get moved to a solid table, luckily i am on the right of Polly Timson? (Best player i played against all festival) and some guy whose name escapes me (Dan something).  I decide to get tricky in a couple of spots and chip up more.

Hand 1:

Dan raises the C/O to 4100 (blinds 1/2) and i elect to smooth the btn with  Ad Qd .  We are both 50bb + deep and there has been a dynamic for last 30 mins or so.  He has cbet 80% of pots he has opened, and does so on a  10s 10c 4s flop (4800) so i click it back to 10k and he mucks.

I think this hand is interesting as i usually 3bet the btn, but as we were so deep i wanted to keep control of the hand as best i could.  Early in the comp im 3betting 100% of the time as i want to build the pot with strong hands when blinds are low.  If the villian is playing 20bb or less, i 3 bet as i wanna get it in pre and this allows me to do so.  I just see no value in 3betting here bloating the pot, and defining my hand.  If i do so i can be in a sick spot if i raise the TT4 flop and he calls/jams/etc and he is more likely to do so if perceptive enough to read the situation.

Hand 2:

Same villian raises the C/O to 4100 again and i smooth  10d 10h on btn.  The short stack is in the bb with 13bb, so i am hoping he squeezes pre (otherwise i would just 3bet to iso the raiser in position) however the shorty peels (??)

Flop is  Ah Kc 10s (weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee)

BB checks, OR cbets 7k and i smooth again.  Im figuring the Bb is gonna fold his 10bb stack and that the OR prob has a peice of the board here, raising isnt great for me as i fold out the bottom of his range.

With my smooth the BB shoves his bowl in and the OR dwell folds (sigh) I call and he shows  Kh 3s.  Turn is the case T and i win with Quads.

The  10c on turn is a gin card for me if the OR is still in the hand (not because i have the nuts) but it improves his hand significantly if he has the middle/bottom of his range.  ie A9 now becomes 2 pair top kicker etc.

Anyhow, after these 2 hands i quickly become card dead and find the first unopened spot to shove blind for 14bbs.

The CL (and eventual winner) calls from the SB and flicks over  7d 7h, i have  9c 6s and although picking up lots of outs on turn, miss them all and finish 16/211 for £183 (mincashaments!)

I go home to bed as still feeling poo, but remind Dave that i am now leading in our POTS Prop bet!!! Weeeeeeeeeeee

Not thinking about poker, just all the Bilbo Baggins/Tim Canterbury references on the threads and the fact that i got crushed in the pool earlier in the morning by Darren!

Saturday

Time for the HORSE!!!!  Weeeeeeeeeeee.  The rest of the house were playing the Main, so a great chance for me to grab some more POTS points, and maybe a bracelet?!  I am also excited to meet the enigma that is Perry, DH and CW"s friend who is now coming up this afternoon, awesome!  One more degen in the house!

My pre game tactic for the Horse was to avoid the Omaha portion as i feel my edge in it is definatly the smallest and concentrate on the Razz and Stud elements which proved to work early on.  Sadly i kept picking up hands in omaha only to be bested on the river and bust fairly early.  Sadly for the house both Dave and Chris bust the main too so its looking a grim day for "Team Gotham" altho Kev is still grinding the main.

Chris and I decide to play the Cash Championship and Dave decides to pick up Perry from the station.

The cash championship went well for us both, despite my grim table draw.  I have Liam Batey to my left and Chinese Frankie on the table too, plus a few solid players i recognise - sigh.  Things start to look up for me as Liam loses a few pots but then spins ~£50 into £500 pretty quick and with him to my right thats never good.

I manage to spin £100 into £237 but place 9th in the standings so am the FT bubble :( although more POTS points for the prop bet locked.  The only downside to this was that i hadnt taken my reload where as some of the FT"s had bust in the 1st 3 hrs, rebought and just pipped me.  Would like to see, going forward, that rule chaged as my ROI is higher and if allowed to add the £100 at the end of the 3hrs i lock a place up ahead of others that were in for £100 more than myself.

Last 20 mins were crazy for me, as i had done a quick count and figured i was in 9th so needed to win some pots.  I preceeded to pick up AA,AA,QQ back to back to back and not see a flop and also flopped 4 sets and perfect boards - eg  3d 3s on  3c Ad  Kh and get no action.

I then call the preflop raise of £4 for the last 10 hands and wiff each flop, thinking i needed one more decent pot but sadly 4 of my table had the FT locked up so werent parting with their money.

Ian Gascoigne winning that 3 way all in means he pips me by £11 and i go to the commantary both with Dave, Perry and Kinboshi to commentate on the best FT i have ever had the chance to watch.

Chris is 2nd in chips when it starts and is disgustingly carddead throughout however with some Cold 5 betting of  Kc Qd and the lucky "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" pyjamas of mine he is fashioning (propbets the ftw) manages to get into 1st place with 30 mins left on the clock.

Sadly for Chris, Steve and Yannis get into a £1k plus pot when Steve turns his  Qd Qh into a bluff on the river only to be called by worse, and scoops.  Seriously, if you get chance watch the stream and look at that hand.  It is amazing, i think we amounted hours of discussion within our house about it, and it so good by both players on so many levels!!

Congrats to Steve on his 2nd Bracelet! and Chris on his 2nd FT and Silver Medal (+ his £££ win!)

Sunday

Main Event for me and Perry, Omaha Dave and Kev whilst Razz for Chris as he decides to reg to lock up POTS.
Daves torrid festival continues as he busts the Omaha pretty quickly as does Perry in the Main Event.  To ensure its not a wasted trip, Perry late regs the Omaha and begins to crush.  Funtime Kev is one of the early ChipLeaders in the Omaha but busts pretty deep in the field.

The Main for me seemed pretty ABC for the most part, as i wasnt picking up premiums thus avoiding any big decisions for the most part.

I chipped up pretty effortlessly and managed to get the better of Kerian Plater (Stud Bracelet Winner) in back to back pots to put myself up to the 100k mark.

I then move tables and dont really get involved until i pick up AKcc and get it in vs a Ladies QQ for 200k pot in the last level of the day but (as per usual!!!) i lose the flip and am left with 40k for my sins.  As day 1b approaches its close i manage to win a flip with  Qs Jc vs  4d 4h when the board runs out  8s 9d 5c 9s 5h and end the day on 103.5k which is average.

In this time Chris has FT bubbled the Razz (1st time ever playing the game i believe) and Perry has bested the 100+ runner field to take the Omaha bracelet and the £1.6k 1st prize.

That evening we play more rediculous cash at the house including "Super XL OXO Uppy Downy" which is a varient of the traditional OXO that we just invented.  Basically the deck is shuffled with half the cards face up and half face down, so that dependent on what you are dealt some or all of your hand could be visable to the table.  However in XL OXO the flop is the whole 9 card board we see in traditional OXO, the turn is an extra 7 cards making the board 4 x 4 and the river an extra 9 cards making the board 5 x 5.  Stupid eh?  Well the other thing to remember is that the board is from the same deck so some of it is face up, some face down.

We see Funtime Kev hit a Runner Runner Runner on the river to best Dave"s Full House, to add to Mr Howards Painful weekend.

At this point it is now suggested that due to our dominance of the weekend, and the location that we are staying at, that we shall now be known as Team Gotham.

Monday

Arrive at DTD to find out that all 64 remaining runners in the Main Event have now cashed, locking up my 3rd cash of the series and pretty much crushing my sidebet with Dave for our POTS Race.  We rush to get Chris into the Headsup as he must be top of the POTS with his 2 FTs and i sit down for the Main Event Day 2.

Nothing happens for the first few orbits and i chip down to 95k ish as the other shorties get involved.  I have to be careful as a few shorties to my left, and dont want too be put into any marginal decisions if i can help it.

I then open  Kc Ac UTG to 9k (2k/4k) and a short stack of 10bbs shoves the btn.....the BB then reships playing ~60k and im left with a decision.

If i call and lose i am left with 7bbs but if i call and win i am up to 200k and a stack i can really do some damage with.

I dont know anything of the 2 players bar the 1 hand i have seen the BB play, but try to assign ranges on both players.

The 10bb stacks range is fairly wide and includes all pairs 55+, A9 suited +, ATo + and suited Broadways etc
The 15bb stacks range is somewhat tighter but includes AJo+, 99+ and AT suited +.

As i have the blockers to them having AA/KK i kinda feel that they also have each others blockers alot of the time, for example the BTN has AT and the BB TT, and other times i am crushing both of their "perceived" ranges (eg btn has AT and bb has AQ) so i call it off.......

Sadly for me, they both have the absolute top of their ranges as the BTN shows  Ad Kd and the BB shows  Jd Jh and i am the worst shape possible.....i flop/turn a Flush Draw ( i cant quite rememeber) but fade the river and am left crippled.

My exit is soon after with  Qd 8s vs  A s 5c and i get no sweat with an  Ah on flop.

Really gutted to lose 2 big flips almost back to back (end of day 1 and beginning of day 2) but my Hendon Mob will show you that i keep going deep but cant seem to flip well when it matters as stacks are shallower....However one cant be dissappointed with 3 cashes in the series.  It is just a shame that i walked into the top of their ranges in that spot, some may say fold but that is definatly -Chip Ev in the long run.

I decide to jump into the Heads Up and preceed to bust in Rd 1 as the rest of Team Gotham make it through.  I have 10% of Perry who busts in the 3rd round and Chris locks up another cash losing in the Round of 8 in a pretty sick spot.
Ks 10c vs  10d Js on  8s 9d Jh with stacks of 11bbs each.

Still, an awesome weekend in which i met some new faces and felt i played pretty solid throughout.  Gutted not to bring home a bracelet but happy with Team Gothams results.

Between us we played 8 of the 10 events (Not the Team and High Roller) and had 7 cashes in total including 3 FTs, 1 Bracelet, 2 medals and 2 FT bubbles (Chris in the Razz and Myself in the Cash).

Look forward to the next one!!!

With WCOAP been and gone, we must look forward to the next hill we can climb.  I have a list of different events to make an attempt to play in 2013 and one of them is only 3 weeks away (so soon again i know!!).

Star City hosts the 888 Superstack in April and for 165 English Pounds you can sit alongside a room full of aquarium dwellers in an attempt to avoid the potholes and collect all the tokens......Soooooo Im in!!!

There is no gte but tbh im not too bothered as it normally boasts around 200 runners so the prizepool is juicy enough.

Also on my list for this year:

DTD 300
DTD Monte Carlo
UKIPT
SPT
GPS
GUKPT
and of course many more APATs..... :)

Tomorrow see"s Day 1 of the ITM 3 Teired Challenge between myself and co-presenter Tom Piccirilli.  Discipline 1 is GOLF.  Now i am terrible at Golf, luckily for me TP is worse (usually)

The stage is set; Thornbury Par 3
The clubs are out; Dusted and Polished
The Balls are ready; hundreds and hundreds of them

The other disciplines we are embarking on are:

Miniclip Pool - Wouldnt be fair on TP to play real pool, so have opted for an online version (yes, yes, yes....queue the Darren Shallis comments)

HU Poker - This is tiered itself with NHL, Omaha, Razz, Horse and Stud all being played (mixed games ftw)

Also tomorrow i am going to hit the G Casino Ricoh in the evening to play the £25+5 game, which boasts a 50k starting stack and 15 min blinds.  I am reliably informed that it gets 50-70 runners so we are in for a fun ride.....at least there will be cash games running too!!

Decided that i am going to be as anal when recording all live sessions (cash + mtt) and staking, as i am with online games.  I mean, it is sooooooo easy when we have tools like HEM/PT to do it for us bt i have d/l"d an app on my iPhone that tracks it all so must keep it to date with it all, would be lovely to bink the £25+5 and start in the Green!

Anywho, GL to all that are grinding, thinking of grinding or just too bone idle to play!!!

Soooooo played the Golf element vs TP today.

How i perceive myself:

What others see:

I finished on 99 (par 3 course) and in hindsight i think playing Golf as a competition after not playing for 12 months (and with only 7 completed courses in my short career) was a bit silly.  TP, however, has been practising and it showed as he finished on 76 (still terrible but a lot better than me)

This is actually the worst score i have ever had on the course, just chuffed i forgot my clubs for the DTD weekend, as i would have definatly lost money vs Dave.

UFC Prelims are starting now, and have tweeted G Casino Cov to check they can show the Main Card so i am set for the evening unless i become lazy and just stay in.

G Casino Saturday TR:

So Saturday evening i did manage to pull myself of my fat a**e to go and try out the G Casino Ricoh (Coventry) and their 8:30pm game.  I must say that this tourny is the BEST structure i have ever seen for a casino Saturday night game.....EVER.

50K Starting stack
15 min blinds
starting at 25/50

I got seated on a table full of Casino regs, and the standard of play was woeful.  Luckily, playing so deep, there were lots of hands played to take advantage.  I did get moaned at for raising too much, probably due to teh fact that they wanted to see every hand limped.....hmm ok

Immediately assuming the role of table captain was not met well, a gentleman with his own poker shirt with catchphrases embroidered on to them didnt like i had taken his role in the game.

To give you an idea, i played a hand in with UTG limp called my 5 x raise and check called every street on 8 K Q 3 A and shows A8o to best my KQhh lol!

Tbh i cruised to the FT (which they played 10 handed) with the CL and 7 paid.  2 swift exits and we are on the bubble and they all start to talk "savers" which i declined as i had 1/2 the chips in play (1.5m) and blinds 20k/40k.....

Sadly i couldnt win an all in with 77 < 44, AK < AJ and AK < QQ and i am left with 700k.  At this point we are down to 5 handed and all the shorties were doubling :(

With blinds now 50k/100k, the time at 345am (and an hr drive home) and ave stack 600k (6bbs) we are fighting for a £500 top prize and only £120 locked up i feel i have to accept an even chop of £270 each.  One flip kills me off, and although a huge edge over the field, at this stage it means nothing if you are:

a) Card dead
b) Lose a flip

Its very rare, almost never, that ill agree to a chop (and i had refused a few times) but on this instance i felt it was the +ev option.

I did notice at the FT that everyone was pretty nitty, and i had taken advantage of it and assumed it was the fact that none of my opponants had experince in this hyper turbo situation (luckily my years of grinding 2/180 turbos on stars helps!) but i then find out that G has a leaderboard in April and the winner gets FREE Entry into ALL of Mays games.....what a great prize.

Makes me wish i was local as it seems to be a money printer there!

Also found out that on Sat night they offer teh first 4 cash game players (not entered into the MTT) rake free cash all night.  Now that is a promo i may take advantage of when i can, as they cash game players were pretty poor.  A few decent Uni students from WaPS (where players such as Andrew HUlme, Rupert Elder etc found their feet) but lots of easy money to be had there.

The only downside to the evening was that, even after tweeting the card room to check, they didnt put the UFC fightson teh TV for me!!! Ohhhh and Toasties were £2.70 each!!!

Still, a profitable day :)

Think i may take a shot at the £10r Monte Carlo sat on DTD iPoker skin tomoz.  50 SEATS GTD!!! and 157 entrants tonight so with 5k stack for £10 and a £10 addon for 10k chips....pretty good value.  Also i can play Day1 from teh comfort of my pc chair, and only need venture to DTD when i make day 2.

:)

Been lazy updating the last few weeks so will try to wrap it up for you all, without being too boring.

Not really been playing much, altho did venture to the Gala in Bristol last weekend with a friend for the £10 Triple Chance.
2.5k s/s blinds starting 25/50 and 20 mins levels.

Now this tournament is soooo soft, and was lucky enough to get the worst table ever :)
However this led to me busting in a record 21mins (for all 3 chances!)

First hand i get  Kh Ks and iso raise a few limpers, the guy to my left 3bets small and the BB then shoves her 2.5k in the middle.

I obv snap, as does the guy to my left.

They show:

Guy -  Ad Qs
Women -  10d 10c

LOL!!!!!!

Flop  2d 5d 9d - Hold????????
Turn  Jh - Hold???????
River  A s - MEH!!!!

So i reload and manage to lose  A s Ks v  Ac Qs aipf 2 hands later.

Run my last 2.5k up to 7k before getting it all in with  Ah 10h on  A s 10s Jh vs 3 villians!!!
They show
Qd 9h
Ac  Qc
Qh Qs

Haha

Sadly the  Ks on the turn kills me and they all chop my chips when i dont boat up!!

Crazy,

I then decided to play some 1/1 cash and chipped up nicely from £100 to £150 before moving from the feeder table to the main table where all the money is!!! :)  I know a lot of the players on this table as they are regulars (albeit pretty poor overall) and i had position on the worst player there....:)

I managed not to go bust on  Ac  Ad 3c 7s 4s with  A s 3h when he held  Ah 4d bust was down to £50 or so.

I do bust soon after with  Kh 10h on  3h Qh 7d 10c 10d vs  3c  3d and decide ill go find my friend, who has span up £40 to £1k at roulette!!! sick

He then preceeds to run like Carl Pilgrim, turning another £40 into £1k.  Then does the same again, only to lose a £900 like a fool!!  However our Roulette run good doesnt end there, and we both manage to run £40 to £1k for a 3rd time :)

He left £2.5k up after blowing some more and i left up £400 after not being as crazy as him!!  Good trip overall, just not for the poker!

The ITM Poker Leagues came to a close this week, and somehow i managed to win the final NLH league game to win the League outright.  Add to this that i had locked up the Mixed Game league a few weeks ago i was crowned Double Champion!

Im pretty chuffed, however the reason i set these leagues up was not for my individual glory but more for others to win the prizes, so that kinda backfired.  Nice to see i can pwn some $2/$3 games whereas the bigger games the business end seems to fall apart.  This was confirmed when i made my 2nd FT of the APAT TV Tournament (ive only played it 2 times) but bust 10th when my AQ ran into AA sigh!!!!

Thanks for all players that supported the ITM Podcast games, there have been a few guest appearences (Jo Sharp/Carl Pilgrim spring to mind) as well as a few reg players (Steve "Jingle Jangle" Redfern)

As per previous post, i was planning to play the 888 Super Stack today at Star City but had to change plans as found out this week that the Tewksbury Pool League Singles Final has been arranged for Sunday Night.  If i were to FT the 888 game then id have to miss it.

Any normal pool match i wouldnt mind, but the winner of this game gets to play at the National Finals and its quite a prestigious event to win.  I won it in 2011, and almost retained it last year (sadly a fluked black in the decider bested me!) so eager to get my title back!!!

I played the Quarter and Semi Finals last Sunday i felt the best i have at a table for years.  We played County Pool vs Northants in the day and i won Man Of the Match for my 3/4 performance against one of the best teams in the country and buzzed my boobies off all day.

I won my 1/4s, 6-1 with 4 break and clears and then won my Semi Final 7-1 with out missing a ball the whole session.  Move Over Ronnie!!!

Today i am gonna venture to Walsall to play the £55, £4k gtd mtt they have on.....lets hope for a bink :)

In other news i managed to drop my iPhone in town this morning rushing back from a haircut to avoid traffic warden and smashed the screen to pieces!!!! BUGGER!!!

Would have rathered the parking ticket imo!!!

Always the Bridesmaid..............

Walsalls 4k gtd:

I dont know why i bother doing TR"s as they all read the same and this one is no different.

£56 buyin, 103 runners and £1.5k uT with all 10 FTs paid.

1. Early Stages
Ran my Starting stack up from 20k to 100k without any issues whatsoever as we approach the final 2 tables.  Seems to me that when i can see flops vs poor players i have a real strong handle on where i am and can avoid tough decisions and effortlessly get chips.

2. Mid Late Stages
Go completely card/spot dead (as per usual in this portion) and watch awful people limp fold to 11bb shoves left right and centre.....Do double to FT ave with 12 left when my KK holds vs AQ.

3.Final Table
Bust 8th losing two flips back to back.
AQ < 33 aipf
TT < AQ aipf

Funnily enough, with AQ the board pairs on the turn, and gives me a FD and a wiff both whilst with TT v AQo the board runs out 3 spades (he has A spades) then he binks the A on turn leaving me 1 out to the river!!!

I win £150 - FML

Dont get me wrong, i am taking the positives out of the situation.  Last 3 casino tournies i have had 2 x FTs, and once you add the NLH Events art WCOAP i have played 6 (including the cash), cashed 5 and made 2 final tables (plus a FT bubble and a 16/200+ and 50ish/400 +)

During all of those tournies i have had AA ZERO times, KK twice and QQ twice.  Thats a lot of hands to be dealt and very little premiums!!

I have definatly decided to play more cash now though, as i am a huge winner when 100bbs deep (as can be seen with all my deep runs) but i just dont flip too good (may ask Carl to borrow some of his flipping skillz :) ) so surely it would be better more my confidence to just stick to cash where i can have no real decisions to make.

I dont know if anyone even reads these ramblings, but if you do let me know what your thinking on the matter.

Also had pool tonight and we won teh 3 man team final!!! :) Yay...someone had to pull of a huge finsih at 4-4 for us to win!!!  Sadly i then proceeded to play like a numpty in the Tewkesbury Singles final and lose 8-6. :(

I was 3-0 down and 7-4 down and just couldnt get going at all, the break favoured my opponent and i never got intot eh groove but congratulations to him and i wish him all the best in the national finals.

2 days, and 2 near misses.........Someone order me the Bridesmaid dress :)

Slightly longer version

Didnt win a hand, retards winning chips calling 2 all ins with 95o, finally open shove 14bbs with 88 and walk into Curlarge"s AA. Standard!

Standard of play was pretty awful from what I saw.

If a lot of those players do get themselves through to Wembley, any pro buying in direct is going to be at a huge advantage, along with what looks like a serious overlay up top.

Not exactly grassroots poker event.  We"ll see.

Especially as everyone will be so deep.

Thats the only downside, lots of turbo minefields to get through, to get to the stage where skill prevails.  Makes it awkward for players like myself.  Decent players (or at least id like to think so) that cannot afford to hammer money at the qualification route.

Who knows, i may win another Day 1 seat in the next FRs.  Shame i live so far from DTD, as feel my edge woulda been better live,

Hey ho

Well well well, SCOOP didnt go too well last night!!!

Cashed in the SCOOP - 02 - L, but sadly my KQdd couldnt best 67cc aipf for a decent stack.
Bust midstages in SCOOP - 02 - M after losing flips b2b getting my money in first each time!!

Sigh.

Went to work, and grinded some Chinese Open Face on my lunch break and finally got the hang of the game (to a point id deffo play for some dinero per point) and then ran into a pretty sick cooler, when i hit running 5s that all had to go in my front and ruin me!!!

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/3333_zps7206b366.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/3333_zps7206b366.jpg.html)

Pretty Brutal.

When i got back from lunch i noticed the office were very "unsettled" and as we are an office of pranksters, i felt like i had been "done" today.

To give you an idea of the severity of the pranks, the last one i handed out was a fruit pastel in someones coffee.  Nothing to brash.

Well it was obvious it was me and i found these in my coffee!!!

Yea - Pigs Eyeballs!!! Nice!!!

TBH doesnt really bother me, but fair play to the effort he put into it.

So not the greatest day, already out of SCOOP HU L and had KK 3 times today and lost them all including this hand.

Wem-ber-ley, Wem-ber-ley, Wem-ber-ley!!!

Please be warned this could be a tl;dr kinda post, however i will include lots of pictures and stuff to keep all those with short attention spans interested.

Saturday:

After satting in from the €2rb (in for €8) to the €33 to the seat, and looking forward to a "Team Gotham" reunion, i must say i was more than excited for the first event of Season 7.  The 7am alarm went off, kissed my GF goodbye, fueled the car and my belly and hit the road for the 2hr drive to the hotel.  Its amazing how the 7am alarm for work every day is a killer, but this one felt so easy!

The journey was suprisingly easy, all bar getting lost near the hotel and having to get directions from the local bin man!!  Sat in the car for 35 min, i get a text from Dave to say they have arrived.  Confused, i found the room only to find they had parked next to me and we had both not seen oneanother?!

As i enter the room, i see card games already in action and i meet one of the newest recruits to Team Gotham, Dwayne "Bane" Stacey.  Now i had heard alot about him and his poker CV (B2B top 150 cashes in WSOP ME, amongst a fair few others).  Introductions over, i get involved in some cards until the arrival of Chris "Batman" Webber and Tony "Two Face".  Team Gotham complete.

Dwayne

Sit down at my starting table, after soaking up some sun, only to see Chris sit 2 to my left (sigh), then JP Round sits on his left (sigh) and then Dwayne on his left (sigh sigh sigh).  The table fills and also includes Ken McBride and the UK Champs winner from last year (Mark Briggs i think?). Ben Cundall joins late.

Tough Table much?

Start off pretty well until i turn my hand into a bluff in a sizeable early pot vs Ben.  I call 33 from the bb from his raise and check raise a K94hh flop.  He calls and i fire another barrel on the turn (6).  He floats again.  I fire the 3rd barrel on the Jh river and he calls.  He shows JTo and im perplexed!  Still the banter is flowing and i manage to chip back up and down a fair bit.  A bit later on i raise QJo on the btn, and am met with a 3bet from Chris in the BB.  A cheeky 4bet gets through and im feeling that im playing pretty well.

I get a double when i call a raise with JThh, Mark Briggs calls from the bb and we are 3 way to the flop.  The flop comes Q94hhh.  OR checks, i lead half pot and Mark jams. I call and he tables Q4dd for 2 pair. I fade and am up to 42k

A Huge hand then comes when i smooth Bens raise with KThh and the flop comes T84dd.  Ben leads and i call, for pot control.  The turn comes a Q and i check behind pretty sure he is gonna barrell the river.  The blank river comes and he bets 2/3rd pot almost instantly.  I tank for a while, tryin to decide whether i can jam for value, and can feel eyes in the back of my head.  This has always been the action table, and great fun to play on.  I decide to call, he announces "Good Call" and flips KT also. SIGH!!! Chop Chop!!

An interesting hand also plays out where i 3bet Bens raise, OTB, with A6hh (i had been calling/raising him a lot and tryin to mix up with the strength of hands) and Dave Howard 4 bet jams the bb.  Sigh.  A6 is close here, as i know DH is doing this light.  Very light.  I tank fold, and on hindsight its prob right but if i have A9hh there i think it all goes in!

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_4906_zpscf3ebaa5.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_4906_zpscf3ebaa5.jpg.html)
Tricky ol" Dave

Not long after getting to 70k the table breaks and i move to JBs table.

With 20mins left in the day, with one of the bigger stacks, im quite happy to close out the day until this car crash!

Jenny (who also FTd) raises 3.5k UTG and i 3bet KK to 11k.  She tank calls and we see a J72 flop.  Jenny checks and i bet 14k and Jenny rr"s me. Hmmmmmmmmmm what the hell!!!  Im only beating QQ here, so fold and am told he had 77.  Good fold me.

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_5131_zps21247584.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_5131_zps21247584.jpg.html)

I manage to get through another awful final level at APAT, and come back to Day 2 with 17bbs.  Time to do a Carl!!!

Perfect prep for Day 2 consists of Chinese Poker, Online Poker and Whist until 4:20 in the morning!!  Would have been ok, except Lauren rang me at 830 in the morning.  Sadly my phone was on loud, and although my Mario Brothers ring tone is pretty cool, not sure the rest of Team Gotham were too happy about it!!!

Sunday:

With Batman, Bane and the Joker all through to day 2, spirits were high.  I had one mission.  £5k.  Yes i want to win every tourny, but £5k also means me and Lauren have enough in the bank for the deposit of our first house, so super eager!!!

I manage a double pretty quickly with AQ v JJ aipf.  A perfect AQQ flop see"s me home and im back into gear.  Shortly after this hand plays out and puts me as the CL.

i raise 4.2k UTG +1 with TT and get 4 callers.

Flop: J85hh and the action checks around.

Turn Th and the bb shoves. I reshove and see im up against Ah Js and fade! BOOM!!!  Dizzy heights of 165k.

Sadly for me, something happens that has never happened to me before.  I set up a hand, and then cant pull the trigger.

Crazy Indian Guy (who bust FT in 9th, putting in his 2nd place stack in pre vs CL with 66) raises button to 7k, so i 3bet A6 from bb to 17k.  He calls, but looks uncomfortable.  Flop comes T43dd and i donk into him (22k).....

Now, i expect him to call with any strong hands (pairs, flopped pairs, diamond draws and overs etc)  but am sure that if he raises then he is bluffing.  He clicks it back(44k), and i take a second before shoving my stack over the line.  I ask him for a count.  He has circa 70k behind.  Perfect! Its the right amount.  But i cant fire the trigger.....what am i doing.  My shove gets any better Ace he has (v unlikely) to fold.  Im 100% winning the hand if i shove.  I then realise ive paused too long and look weak....but it doesnt matter, im closing the effective action if i shove....what am i doing....FOLD!  FFS Dann, thats awful.  You"ve set the whale up, why have you crippled yourself!! Rant Rant Rant.

He gleefully shows 75o.  WP him.  That is the worst poker moment in my life, ive donked wanting him to raise so i can shove, and im not one for not pulling the trigger. Hmmmmm

Im still mulling this over as FT is announced, and although Dave has busted both Dwanyne and I make it.

The FT dynamic is chalk/cheese for me.

I have all the big stack on my right (yippee) but all the micro stacks on my left (sigh) including a guy with 2bbs.  Im rocking 20 and hoping that i pick some spots up in the first level.

Nope.  Card Dead. Sigh.

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_5152_zps69ead079.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_5152_zps69ead079.jpg.html)

A few open shoves with J high, A2, and a 3bet shove with AK keeps me afloat and we are soon 6 handed.  Both James and Jenny, on my left are short, so im looking good for my first live 4 fig score. :)

Dwayne then raises the Btn, from a 16bb stack and i find A7ss on the BB and get my 11bbs in.  Dwayne snaps (Uh-Oh), then sighs when he sees my hand, tabling KJo.  I like his call here (not as i am ahead :), but he knows im doing the same with a HUGE % of my range so he is ul to be behind on this occasion.)  Its also a huge spot for me, as if i hold the table dynamic favours me.  Ill have 25bbs. 3 sub 10bbs stacks on the table and position on the CL who is opening light.  TBH if i hold then i am certain i will get my first Individual APAT medal.

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_5171_zps46036f02.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_5171_zps46036f02.jpg.html)

Although i may not come across as one of those that medals mean a lot too, and yes cash is deffo important,  i really wanted that medal.  REALLY wanted it!!  Feel all the work i have put into my game over the last few years, + all the close calls (see mincash hendon mob).  Well the K on the turn dashed all of those. :(

Im a pretty emotional guy at the tables, sometimes its played up for a reason and sometimes natural but my heart sank when the blank fell on the turn.  I know you dont know what"ll happen later but it felt like 6 outer that cost me £2k (diff between 6th and top 3).  Bitter pill to swallow, for sure.

Chuffed for JB on his third place, he grinded hard and snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in my fav moment of Day 2 (his A7 beating Crazy Indian Guys KK aipf after the K window card - runner runner runner runner straight ftw!!) and also for Dwayne, who is a great player also.

Just updated my Live Poker Spreadsheet and now have a 378% ROI in APAT Live Games, cashing just shy of £1.6k in 7 games this year, for a profit of just over £1.2k :)  This ROI is obv helped by satting into the WCOAP Main and APAT Masters for a total of about £5 lol.

Over the year i am £1.5k in profit over 11 games (not including APAT Team Champs win) with an Average Buyin of £44.  So a good year all in all

Maybe i can play this game after all!

Thanks for the namecheck :)

You played well and from my point of view you analysed it spot on; victory from the jaws of defeat for me (I have used all my run good!)

You were unlucky when it mattered most.

Keep plugging away your ROI is awesome :)

Not played a great deal but still on the up.

Had a wedding to go to this weekend just gone, which was blessed with awesome weather (in which i managed to get sunburnt) and my GF was one of the bridesmaids.....so.........i got sat on the +1 table with all the other partners. Fun times.

Highlight of the wedding was me winning a prop bet (standard) by throwing a nerf football through a hole 30 ft away.  They had one of those comedy boards you see at the beach, with 2 head cut outs.  One of a fat lady, one of a skinny man.  I, somehow, managed to throw it through and win the prop bet.  Weeeeeeeeeeee

It was even more epic as i started facing away from the target, and then just turned and threw....skill game!

This week i am off to see Joe Satriani in concert, and for those that have no idea who he is; here is a clip.

Also just bought tickets for Skid Row and Ugly Kid Joe, in November, which is a huge win :)  Please APAT, no events the first w/e in November!!

The Countdown to Coventry!

With a week to go I can say I am pretty darn excited about the Opening Event of Season 7 and feel ready to crush!!!  My Cov weekend starts off with the Cash Championships, on the Friday, which i think is my favourite event in the calender.

I am intrigued to see how the event will fare, away from DTD and their cash regs looking for a night of rake free cash, and hope the buyin doesnt put people off.  Hopefully the table draw will help me avoid the other 2 members of Team Gotham, as there is no dead money in their seats for sure.

Also playing the Main, and looking to improve on my 6th at Wembley, and feel im "due" a Tourny win.  Im not one for thinking I am due normally, but i have put lots of work into my game over the last 24 months, lost my ego and concentrated on making good decisions.  Lets just hope i have a good opening table :)

No doubt there will be lots of Prop Bets and OFC doing down, and as we are staying at the De Vere, ill make sure i also pack my swimming trunks!!!

Hope by the time Cardiff rolls around, ill be in a position to patch up Team Gotham (they have no choice) and maybe some more APATs with the unique ITM Logo.

Will just be interesting to see if Chris "Robin" Webber can make a Day 2, not too sure he knows poker tournies have 2 days occassionally!! (Ive seen him FT 2 APAT Events, both sides and 1 dayers!!)  All joking aside, he is one of the most talented poker players in the APAT scene and i really think if he can make a decent % of the Seasons schedule, that he is  a shoe in for Breakthrough player of the year.  Ive known him since WCOAP, and feel i have learnt alot from late night hand discussions with Dave, Dwayne, Perry, Tony and Chris.

Watch out APAT, TeamGotham are coming for you!!!

Cash Championship Leg #1 in T-minus 71hrs!!!

Really hope to see it hit capacity as i feel its the most unique poker event, and a genius idea by those who invented it (yes, i know who!!)  and really hope APAT"rs support the event, now that they have lowered it to NL50>NL100 from NL100>NL200.

If it doesnt sell out, then you all deserve looking at!!

Also trying to pre-plan my UKCOAP schedule and get things into place.  As the missus now takes all my poker monies, when i win, for the house deposit i shall no doubt be selling peices of the festival.  Get your staking caps on, and donate (i mean stake) if poss!!!

Cant wait to get Team Gotham to Cov, lets see how many flags we can win this year!!!

Easy

The toaster in Red Dwarf, Season 2 i believe??

Been a while.

Used to have Season One on VHS, and watched on repeat. :)

The Cat/Rimmer YoYo sketch is still the best Red Dwarf moment ever

Have to agree with this. Initially i was very sceptical of this format/concept, but having played in the inaugural cash tournie at DTD i totally changed my mind. It provides a really subtle yet interesting change in dynamic and is well worth playing to any of those who are on the fence...

Why the double-n?
Title: Re: Balancing My Range - Tales of Poker, Podcasts and Pool
Post by: s4ooter on June 25, 2013, 23:57:45 PM

Why the double-n?

It happened as a mistake when i was about 13 at school and has stuck ever since.  A teacher thought that was how i spelt in on a peice of work (i had actually put Danny), and changed it on register etc.  It caught on and stuck.  My "real" 1st name is actually double barrelled and is "Daniel-James", but everyone has used Dann since aged 13.

When i say a mistake, it was a mistake made by the school and only at 16, when i got my GCSE"s (O levels for you older folk) did i notice they had updated all school records to Double-n.  So my GCSEs etc all have double n.

And Robin, i couldnt agree more!!

Some of you out there that read this (ok maybe 1 or 2) will have noticed the name has changed.  Thats because i have realised that this blog is less and less about myself and pool, but more about the emergence of a Super Group of Poker Heroes/Villains, that are taking the APAT Tour by storm..............................Hmmm ok maybe not, but its good to dream!!!

I invite all of the members of "Team Gotham" to post in this thread, whether it be tourney reports etc.

I will also post some "in-depth" Player Profiles, of all the members of TG, and we can see if the pseudonyms match the real people!!

A quick roundup of Coventry goes like this.

4 TG"s playing (Dave "Batman" Howard, Chris "Robin" Webber, Dann "Joker" Williams and Tony "Two-Face" Johnson)
3 APAT events played. (Cash, Main, Omaha)
6 FT"s (3 in Cash, 3 in Omaha)
1 Day 2"r (Chris)
1x 1st (Dave in Omaha)
2x 2nds (Tony in Omaha, Chris in Cash)
1x 3rd (Dave in Cash)
POTY Points earnt (Total = 17)
OFC Hands played = 3 (shocking!)

Since inception (Worlds Season 6 - March 2013)  Team Gotham Stats:

6 Active Members
12 events
1 x Bracelet
1 x Gold Medal
2 x Silver
1 x Side Event win
2 x Side Event R/Up
11 FT appearances
15 cashes
4 New Card Games Invented/Taught

Total Cashes: ~£9400

Bring it on!!!

EDIT.....

Looks like we are going to aim for £10k in cashes between us in Season 7. :)

Running total after Wembley and Cov:

£6095

(Now if i can just bink Cardiff for £3k ish, that would be lovely!!! "insert Welsh Accent here!")

Prop bet POTY standings. (NB all events included from S7)

1 - Dave (8pts)
1 - Dwayne (8pts)
2 - Dann (5pts)
3 - Tony/Chris (4pts)
4 - Perry (DNP)

*nb we include top 9 in all open events too (thank god - wonder whose idea that was!!)

Alter Ego"s = The Ego has possession / ownership of something
Alter Egos = Plural of Ego

Thinking about it NLH is boring, Des can the Cardiff leg of Cash Champs be Omaha or at least Dealers Choice??

Dealer"s Choice could be a good idea though.

AA < AK on Q45 flop for CL in the 10r 3k gtd (98% fav)

77 < A7 on 7 high flop

lost the 3 other flips.

Ran horrifically, cant really say much more.  That 10r was a shot so even more annoyed but it is the softest tourney on the network and with just shy of 1k up top its soooo good.....one day ill FT it.  Been close sooo many times!!!

With my satty skills and cash game prowess its another b/e day.

After bubbling the 27e 4k gtd (for the gazillionth time) and bubbles in a few others was nice to make my way through this mindfield!!  Came to FT 7/10, was 3/3 and HU he had a 4/1 chip lead.  Lucky for me, he is a huge spazztard!!

Needed it after a dreadful cash session.

KK does not beat AA, AK or 22 aipf.  I had 3 goes, but couldnt get it to win ;)

So in the picture was the 2nd and 3rd place finishers of the cash tournament and the 1st and 2nd place finishers on the Omaha side event at Coventry.
Scary half of the team.

Sigh,

Local £50 freeze. Could do with a bink pre-Cardiff/Nottingham.

Last week: KK < AT on T9x.

This week: QQ < J8 (with another J8 having called pre and folded flop) on J97.

So whats been going on??

I withdrew all my monies from boss, as the gtes have been reduced AGAIN!!! Its such a shame, as the old tourny schedule etc was so good, but its a long time since those €44, €22 and €11 deeps and 3 x €10rbs throughout the day.  Also the €55 €2k gtd game @ 11pm also gone...shame

Gone are these days....

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/Donald-Duck-Dives-Into-His-Money-Gold_zps112c574e.gif) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/Donald-Duck-Dives-Into-His-Money-Gold_zps112c574e.gif.html)

So i decided to get back to grinding ZOOM on Stars, and playing a mix of NL5 and NL10.

Here"s the results:
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/MyCurrencyWoninUSDoverHandsPlayedfors4ooter_zpsaa2ec29b.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/MyCurrencyWoninUSDoverHandsPlayedfors4ooter_zpsaa2ec29b.jpg.html)

and i must say i really dont know why i left!!!  I was so chuffed with the results (as i feel i have played pretty poorly the last few sessions) that i went food shopping today and it was like this:

Also came home to a £600 tax rebate, so thats Notts covered :) FREEROLLING!!!  In all seriousness though money will be tight and i need to start planning for all events incase i am not selected for Team England this year.  PLO is my new love you see!!!!  Sadly the better half didnt agree

Update Time!!!

So whats gone on recently??......Other than work.....not too much.

Started Kickboxing/MMA training, as i was struggling to find the motivation to go to the gym alone.  Anyone would think that surely getting beat about is less appealing hey?

Im an avid MMA fan, and havent missed a UFC card in years.  I love the technique behind it all and am certainly not that bothered with all the striking elements (kickboxing/boxing/Muay Thai) but am in love with the technical side of the spors (Jui Jistu/Greco/Submission Wrestling etc) so this is more than enjoyable....i literally cant wait!!

Sadly, its not cheap, but as my £30 p/m fee only gets me 1x 1hr class per week i have time to recover!!

This week we practised kick and punch combos and then practised some take downs from a shoulder/collar tie up.

Now..........

1) Dont practise your kicks on a Punch ag, it ruins your feet.  I am in agony and have swollen feet to boot!
2) Buy shin guards...they help alot and i have snap bought some on eBay now!
3) Learn to throw hooks with techinque, not power.  Jolted my elbow and that too, is swollen.
4) Elbows to the face hurt.  Took my first accidental one this week, f**k my jaw aches.

So a bit battered and bruised, but lets hope i can turn this:(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/roy_nelson_ultimate_fighter_cast_zps6f124f67.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/roy_nelson_ultimate_fighter_cast_zps6f124f67.jpg.html)
into this:(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/Cole_Miller_510_right70_zpsa72e77fe.png) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/Cole_Miller_510_right70_zpsa72e77fe.png.html)

Pokers:
Won a APAT National Seat in the 500fpp satty on Sunday.  There was one guy/gal that was an abso loon, but thankfully i won that war 4-3 to amass a stack as we approached short handed.  With 4 left, i had the CL and was comfortable until i doubled up the shortie (he won the seat the week before too) where i had stupid odds to call from bb with 940.  I binked the flop but he managed to runner runner the nuts and stay in the game.  I also had Rod Buckman on my left, which is never fun as we have played 100000000s of hands together....sigh.

Anyhow, i managed to hold nicely to lock up the free £82.50, although no idea what im gonna use it for.  Already bought into Cardiff, and not able to make Scotland/Ireland so not sure.  Maybe ill have to use it for my Entry Fee to the Home Nations Team Event at DTD............

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/fff_zps3880d85c.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/fff_zps3880d85c.jpg.html)

Whats that??  Yep, somehow this dribbler got picked for the England Team this year at the Home Ints.  TBH i had written off the chances this year as the Worlds Team is already selected (as defending champs), and im about 10% to go to Prague for the Euros.  But.....somehow i snuck through the back door and got a spot.

If (and this is obv a big if) we happen to win it, then i will make every effort for Prague if selected, but other than that im just gonna enjoy it aim for top of the rankings :)  Cant let the rest of Team Gotham gain more POTY points!! :)

Thanks to Stu/Carl for selecting me, i understand there was a fight to the death for my skills.....Stu must have lost!!! :)

Anyways, we can all say "we are the best, we"re gonna win" etc but ill do my talking on the table.  Stu has told me its my mission to 3b/5b all the England A players so ill see what i can do!

Next stop for me is probably the Walsall 4k gtd this weekend.  Its only a £55 game, but i FT"d it last time i played and bust 8th when there was £1k + uT.  The std is woeful, so lets see if i can flip better!!!

Then Cardiff, in which TG will be playing the Cash Championships, the Main and the Sunday PLO if the Main goes wrong.

GL to us!!

Is there something you wish to tell us?
Its ok, were all friends here :)
Good luck in Walsall.
Looking forward to Team Gotham continuing the great start that we have had to season 7 and surpassing your goals.

Cardiff TR!!!

Friday:  Cash Championships

Great starting table, for banter purposes, however terrible seat draw that sees Chris Webber a few to my left, as well as some young kiddy that ran super golden.  The banter was brilliant, and the table got to see me use my endless charms on the dealer after really upsetting her by answering the following Q very badly.....she asks "how old do you think i am" based on the only info:

1 - She has 2 kids
2 - Has been married and seperated.

Now i know this is Cardiff, but i thought id air on the devilish side and annouced "31"....she was not happy....also is "26" Oooops!!!  Luckily i managed to put on a clinic to turn it back in my favour.

As for the poker i just never really got going, so just decided id entertain the table as best i can.  The guy that ran like God was renamed Avril Lavinge, due to his attire and i think i upset Adam Sharples a bit after laughin at this High Five/Fist Pump/I have Aces celebration when Glenn Laming 5bet jams into him.  Utterley hilarious.....tbf he took a bit of a verbal battering for it (and for being a short stack slug!! - Not my words!) but think he knows its all in jest....if he didnt then he played the perfect trump card to dent my FT chances. :)

With 30 mins of Phase 1 left, i am miles behind and realise i need to win about £100 to qualify so play literally every pot trying to win a big one.  I peak at £240 with 10 mins to go, but as Adam has £150 still to reload and over £150 in front i need to get busy.  This costs me a lot of money, and i end up giving up on a 2K3J6 board with T2 in the last hand vs Matty Dent and admit defeat.  I actually thought i was infront and if i had called i woulda made the FT standings but decide to give it up.  He shows a bluff.  Yay....

Chip counts start and im pretty sure i am nowhere to be found, however it seems im close....wow

Adam then decides that he isnt gonna play the FT, so i creep up a spot....but then its announced... i am in 9th place, 75p behind 8th!!! FML!! Gutted didnt cut it, but it opens up the question to diff tactics that can be made.  If i know Adam is hit and running, then i lock up once i reach £240 as i know its prob enough.
Obv i thought i needed more so had to splash, and it cost me £60 and a place at the FT, but someone could use that as a tactic to generate action on the table.

Pair that with the 9th at Notts in the cash tourny, with the old dodgy rule, im quite glad i cant play it at the UKICOAPs as it clashes with Team Game.

Dwayne and Chris finish 1 + 2 (Chris" 3rd 2nd in a row in the APAT Cash Champs) for £1144 and £469.  Team Gotham on a roll!!!

Saturday:  Main Event

This is the easiest part of the report for me and it goes like this.

Dealt Monster - Lose
Dealt Monster - Lose
3bet into KK
Dealt Premium - get outplayed.

Rinse and repeat.

Had a tough table draw that included: Curly, Rudders, Liam Crawford, Mark Porter, Tony Johnson and Adam Sharples.  Te be honest, the whole table got owned by Tony for the most part, as he played some outstanding poker.  I was out pretty quickly and waited the cash tables.......

Dwayne decided to run like a hero at cash, taking another £1k off the table that night, whilst i just cruise until the early hrs when the game gets juicy and i run pretty well.  I should bust to Chris, when i get AJ in on Jxx vs his QQ, but i hit the miracle river to double and from there it gets better and better.  Finish £600 up, but ready for bed at 5am.

Sunday - PLO

As PLO is definatly my worst game, i just decided to have lots of fun and banter again, that included nicknaming Liam Crawford "LegoHead" and winding up the locals.

Somehow i managed to FT another Omaha FT (3/3 now) and i dont think anyone was buying my " i have no clue" speech as i went in 2/10.

Somehow, and im still not too sure how, i finished 9th and ironically the same dealer at the PLO Ft was the one that crushed me in the Main. She even apologised to me, which was deffo a first!!

I managed to get  Ks 9s  Ah Jh in vs  Qc 10c Qs 10s on  4s 3c 9c Kd for a 45k pot (ave 30k) only to see the  4c dash my dreams on the river.

This left me crippled and i managed to chip back up until Dai crushed me in a huge pot (90k ish / ave 33k) when i 3bet jam  Js 10c 10s 8c on  Jc 8s 6c, only to be called by Dai and his  Kc Kd 5c 2h

Thankfully i have blockers to clubs, but only i can see  Ah followed by  A s to bust me....pretty sick (granted only 70/30 at best) just annoying now that i have played both PLO at Coventry and Cardiff, entered FT as 2nd in chips, and not cashed in either without making any huge mistakes.  Hey ho, still learning i guess!!  Well done to Dylan for winning it.......he started to win some pots after i got moved from his table!!  Cracking bloke.

Chris also had his 2nd deep run in successive mains, finishing 13th for £130 this time.  This guy will win something decent soon, thats back to back day 2s....as well as back to back to back 2nds in Cash Champs....sicko.

Obv this is overshadowed by some Welsh guy winning back to back MEs....i mean, we already have Carl....sigh!!

Only joking, fair play Warren. :)

TG Running Total for Season 7:
Previous - £6095
Cardiff:
Cash Champs - £1949
Main - £130

Total:
£8174 (Target £10k)

Suppose have to finish that off in Notts :)

I knew it was in jest but it did get to me a bit - tbf this was mainly because I was tired and needing sleep! As I said a lot over the weekend though, I was originally planning to play the FT but I hit the wall just after you did, so definitely wasn"t a tactical play!

Chris really didn"t need to go on about it on Saturday night though, and 100bb"s is not shortstack poker! ;)

Chris really didn"t need to go on about it on Saturday night though, and 100bb"s is not shortstack poker! ;)

Absolute suckage the whole trip for me.

Played bad and ran worse in the Cash. Spewed off the second £100 against Vikrum. Felt I played well in the main - got last years winner to put in 60 bigs with 89dd on a 854ss board. Unfortunately for me it"s the only hand in my range (I"ve 3bet out of position vs an UTG limper and his raise) he"s almost flipping with and holds. Followed up by 3jamming 29 bigs with 55, to be met with a cold 4jam with AJo. Board naturally runs out Q8686.

Played some 1/1 Dealers Choice. Got it in as good as you can in 6 card PLO with an overpair, nut flush draw, top pair and 2 straight blockers, versus an open ender and bottom pair. Cue his bottom pair becoming runner-runner quads.

Then lost to Dwayne "I got there, again" Stacey at Open Face Chinese. Surely couldn"t go any worse on Sunday for the PLO. It"s my game, played 4 of these side events, winning 2 outright.

Won the first pot, getting Dan Dennehy to bluff into my straight. Then it all went wrong second hand. KKJ2 v K662 on K64. Had him on K6 (which at least was sort of right) and was ok with the 6 on the turn. Until I saw his hand of course. Rest went in on a flop with a semi wrap vs a set. Drawing dead on turn naturally.

Can only add to people"s negative views about the casino, but mine also include the dealers. At least 4 awful dealers I had over the weekend. Maybe I was unlucky - I have no issue with honest mistakes, and I can overlook technical ability - but awful attitudes and guessing at rulings had me fuming at points over the weekend. Build your own burger was AWESOME though. As were the APAT crowd, seemed chock full of people I knew - lots of chat and banter to be had, probably the best of any I"ve been to tbh. More of the same in Notts please!

Had a session today online.....ran horrifically

Had a cash in the $3 Micro on stars, but sadly people cant stop overplaying rags and getting there.  I flicked in a few this evening but cant get anything going (except winning my Rd 1 of the Sat Duel in 1 hand lol)

Still in $27 KO on Stars, $11 Sat Duel on Stars and $26 Triceratops on Full Tilt.....spinnage please?

No poker really scheduled until APAT UK Homes, although have some tokens on DTD so may try and play the £50 deep on the cheap.

S"pose i had best get learning that PLO game that ill need to play @ DTD. :)

Hotel all paid for, and the weekend will certainly be cheaper than usual, so ready to rock and roll. :)

FML.......

Just bubbled the Saturday Duel for the 8th (yes 8th) time this year, from 12 attempts.

Met with a Russian playing 69/3 and managed to get a 2:1 lead until his AJ > 88 and then his AQ > 77 both with Ace on the river....

This tournament should be printing money, as all the players in it are terrible (i met 69/3 and a guy playing 93/90) unreal!!!

1 tbling the $26 Triceratops on Full Tilt, playing 20bbs.

119/170/785 but with $4.5k uT i need to start running like Dwayne!!!

So its wrap up time!!!

After the glorious drive to Notts, and a cheeky Frankies and Bennies with Dwayne (number 1/3 for the weekend!) we were set for 4 days of poker, prop bets, and as many jollies as can be had.

Team Gotham consisted of Chris, Perry, Dave, Dwayne and myself and all events were covered.  Whilst i was attempting, and failing, to pwn the Team Event the rest were attempting to crush....and crush they did!! :)

Day 1 of the Team Event saw us (England B) start pretty terribly whilst our counterparts topped the table.  I managed a 2nd in the first NLH losing to Brian Frew HU with 89 v 67 on 8637 board...

I hoped the PLO would save my day but i couldnt manage better than 3rd when my KKJTsshh ran into Tods AA63 Blind v blind....pretty sick, but was prob in the best shape i could as my hand connects really well.  Warren also played this SNG and was unbeatable!!

After playing the sngs i see that Chris is at the FT of the PLO side event, and crushing it.
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_1569_zpsc97fceab.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_1569_zpsc97fceab.jpg.html)
Chris is having an amazing season including 2 x 2nds in the Cash Champs, as well as 2 deep runs in the previous 2 mains.....Sadly this one wasnt to be as his 22xx loses to Steve Redferns JJ7x on 752 flop, and Chris busts in 3rd....sick beat but a good start to the series for TG.  Coasters aye up!!

Steve Redfern:

Chris looking pleased about the 2 outer:
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_5839_zps6b6bf84c.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_5839_zps6b6bf84c.jpg.html)

Day 2 of the Team Event, and looking for miracles we see one emarge as all of Wales A bust out in 7th place.  Wow, now to turn in the screws and get as deep as poss..... i managed to get HU vs Tod and amazingly my A4 holds vs his J6 and we lock up max points....rest of the team scoring well sees us now creep up the leaderboard into 4th place.  This results in the next 2 sngs being really tense.  Really tense!!

And we know nothing is ever easy.........

Stu busts first in the final sng vs Rodders with T8 v JT on an TTxxx board, not ideal but with a 10 pt lead we just need to make sure that the Wales A players arent making top 3 and we are.....as the points jump the most here.  Warren obv wins his table for max points and we are left with an interesting scenario.

5 left on my table including me, i have 4 points locked and no Welshy on my table.
4 left on James table including a Welsh A player.

We are 4 points behind. Hmmm

Doing the maths quickly i realised that it doesnt matter too much where i finish, and laddering isnt an option for me as 4th only gets an extra point where as top 3 is staggered by 2, then 3.  James has to outlast his opponant if i dont finish top 3.  Sadly John Murray is on my table and knows the score just open shoving every hand, which is a great tactic for him.

I finally get to open shove K7cc bvb and the Scot picks up A9 in the bb....sigh, i bust in 4th and its all to JB.

He then loses a hand leaving 1bb....f*ck....amazing the emotions that hit you to think that 2 hard days work may just disappear in the turn of a card.  In the bb he picks up QJ and is up against J9 and 96, and hold amazingly....shortly after the Welshy busts and we have locked up 4th spot for a Bronze playoff vs England A.

I draw Joe Car Hill in my HU playoff and am sat on the same table as the Stu/Tod match which ends pretty abruptly for us.....1-0 down eeek

2 key hands win me the match vs JCH (who may i add is a top bloke, i really enjoyed chatting to him at the tables and discussing pool/Volleyball etc)

Hand 1 -
I open to 200 (50/100) with AK and JCH flats OOP.
Flop comes AJTr and JCH donks 300 into me.  I smooth. (Pot 1000)
Turn is 7 and JCH donks 800 into me......i snap fold AK face up and JCH shows JT (phew)

Hand 2 -
I limp btn with J7hh and JCH checks (this is the first limped btn)
flop is 77x and JCH check calls
turn is K and we get it in, i hold and level it at 1-1

Joe was really tough to play HU, as he kept nothing standard, and i was glad to get that over with.

Railing is not my favourite thing to do, not when it has a benefit to me as i just get nervous.  Weird.  At the table i was calm as they come, but railing the final 2 HU matches wasnt easy.  Soon enough Paulie D beats Adam and we are 2-1 with JB vs Carl.

At least we have a playoff locked, but thats not needed as JBs QJ holds aipf vs Carls T9 and we are Bronze Medalists!!
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_5854_zps23e6702a.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_5854_zps23e6702a.jpg.html)

As this is all taking place, we have another TG member hitting a FT and its our very own Batman, Dave Howard.

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_60881_zps3aa7542f.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_60881_zps3aa7542f.jpg.html)

Sadly its another nearly as Dave finishes 7th in the 6 Max running like a dog for 14 hands to go from CL to out.  I mean if Chris cant fade 2 outers then we cant expect Dave to fade a 1 outer amongst other things.

Main Event.......Look-a-likes.....Breakfast Carnange and more all to come.....

F+B has a £5 breakfast menu, and between 5 of us we managed a near £80 food bill, and even got a "well done" from the waitress for our epic mealage!!

We also learnt that Dwayne has changed a lot since his Driving License was printed....

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_1574_zpsb5f1b9a1.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_1574_zpsb5f1b9a1.jpg.html)

The main, for me, was horrible for quite a while.  I had a starting table with Ian Gascoigne, Perry and Dan Denehhy and cannot win a pot for love nor money.  I swiftly chip down to 5k from 15k but get moved......

Oh hello!  I got moved in the middle of Chris and Tom Somerville, to what was the best ever table at an APAT event.  The std was great, and i do not think you will see hands like this again.  Just amazing.  Also the banter was awesome as everyone got a lookylikey, some better than others.

On our table we had:

John Major, Dolph Lungrun, Barry the Baptist,Mr Happy as well as:

Steve Jobs:
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/steve-jobs-1_zps4cccfdf7.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/steve-jobs-1_zps4cccfdf7.jpg.html)

Tom Somerville:
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/images_zpsa1df7ddb.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/images_zpsa1df7ddb.jpg.html)
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_6376_zps17e21a0d.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_6376_zps17e21a0d.jpg.html)

We also see Naz Wringley at this table too:
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/Louie-Spence_280_1042658a_zpsedfb2bdd.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/Louie-Spence_280_1042658a_zpsedfb2bdd.jpg.html)

On this table we see:
TS 6 bet jam QJo vs Chris" 5 bet with KTo
I 5 bet jam KThh into TS AA and get there (mbn)
Lots of other 4bet/5bet action.

I, however, lose my stack to Chris in 2 biggish hands.  After getting to 25k ish, i call off with AK high on the river vs Chris and am wrong (sick thing is he calls my hand too when i call) and then he polishes me off then i 3b/call it off with KQ vs his TT and dont win the flip.  Pretty big call off last hand, as i have 20bbs but i wasnt wrong in my reads so its all ok.

In a sick turn of events, we actually have 3 players in our last longer in to Day 2 of the Main including honoury member Mark "Batboy" Porter.....
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/Batboy_by_Luna133_zps40412541.png) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/Batboy_by_Luna133_zps40412541.png.html)

I decide to play cash that night and win a buying, mainly in this hand.

50/£1

Villian raises to £4, 3 callers.  I 3b the button with 67hh to £17 and get 2 callers. Pot (£59.50)

Flop Ad Th 8h

Villian chks, Fish chks, i lead £17.  Villian calls. Pot (£93.50)

Turn 5h

Villian chks, i bet £23 he calls. Pot (£139)

River Ts

He checks with £120 stack, i lead £33 and he insta jams.......

i tank call and am good vs T9o.

Sadly i bleed the stack away throughput the night, just missing draws and getting no spots/bluffs working....

Day 2 of the Main and we end up with 3 still left in the Final 13 from TG, not a bad performance when we only had 6 in the whole field of 188 or so......

Dwayne busts in 13th when he walks KK into AA and AJdd, and the AJdd scoops when turning a flush aipf.

Batboy busts in 10th to Chris when his AK cant best Chris" 44.

Well Played both.

At the FT, the lookylikey game comes back into play.

Not a Final Tablist, but Laura told me that she is often likened to Jon Bon Jovi!!

Sadly for Chris, he cannot convert his 1.1m stack into a first place as he runs 77 into Victor"s JJ bvb, and also loses chips in a 3 way pot where he folds KK on Q98 vs AQ and 88.  Sadly he exits in 4th with KJ v AQ, the first card is a J but is quickly followed by a Q.

Two FTs for Chris, and 4 FTs for Team Gotham this weekend, so all in all another good festival.  2 more medals for the Teams Collection and another £2k ish won over the weekend as a whole.

Thanks to all for a cracking weekend, and i hope i never see a bag of £5rs and a cheque to get paid out with!!!

Getting in a race and flopping quads is not golden...right?

Robin is still yet to get that gold coaster but again proved himself as a class apart.
Looking froward now to the next time we get Team Gotham together to take on another APAT event.

Also a big welcome to the team Bat Boy.

Played a fair bit with Chris and Dwayne over the course of the few days ( and apart from getting names mixed up), I gotta say I bloody enjoyed being on the table with you both. Some of the plays I saw you both make were absolutely top drawer. Dwayne ran well in the 6 max, only doubled up 9 people on my initial table ( and took a good few out as well), and was basically a horrible river ( iirc) away from knocking out the guy who finished 3rd in the end.

The weekend in numbers:

10 - Oversized cheesecake slices eaten by Team Gotham.
1 - The number of oversized cheesecake slices not eaten by myself or Perry.
6 - The number of times Mark Porter"s eyebrows were raised after being called "Batboy"
1 - Salamanders encountered
3 - Number of films The Riddler watched while the rest of us were still playing poker
2,315 - Number of English Pounds obtained from holding onto our tokens longer than other people
0.5 - Minutes before Steve Redfern was called Professor X
21 - Player of the Year points won by Chris "Robin" Webber, roughly equating to a 0.7 points per pint.
10 - Score out of 10 for my satisfaction at seeing Chris called Robin by Mark the Shark
2 - The number of times I got sworn at for getting there in the 6max after both opponents play their hands horribly
782 - Utterances of "slug" and its derivatives

Very much so sir!!

So APAT UKCOAP Main and PLO tonight, which is FOC as i managed to FT the 5r on boss and finish 4th for €220 :)

Playing a small session this evening on top of the 2 x APAT games, and the APAT cash game if it gets going.

€666 gtd
€27 €3k gtd
€5r €1.75k gtd
3k 10r

Also went to Airsoft today, for a friends birthday, which was a great craic!  Altho i managed to snap a £200 BB Rifle in Game 1, when trying to make a running dash to the helicopter to win the game!

Picture Rambo, running through a foray of bullets and diving into the helicopter.  Now......... imagine as Rambo jumped on the step he slips as its wet under foot.......

Luckily for said Rambo, his ankle flexs a way it shouldnt to help the scenario.....he also uses his face to break his fall....like a boss....Oh as well as his hip!!!

I basically broke myself!!  Had to hobble round the other courses but had a great day and it was good value for money. £35 per man for unlimited ammo and 12 games.....

Made late dash to play the LPPL in Bristol which went well....not.

Great Banter but pretty silly plays on my table, people shipping 20k at 200/400 and **** like that.  I didnt last too long, but was happy to play some cash tbf!

Playing 1/1 managed to run £100 to £475 pretty easily, altho 5betting 92dd and flopping 2 pair helped (we had history)

Then this hand happened vs same guy (very good thinking aggro player)

Both sat with about £450.

UTG raises to £3
Hero (utg+1) makes it £12 with KQcc
Villian (HJ) makes it £29
UTG folds
Hero Calls....

Pot £63

Flop K Q 8 rainbow

I lead £34
Villian Calls

Turn K Q 8 8 (2 spades) - Pot £131

I lead £62
Villain calls

River K Q 8 8 A - Pot £255

Both roughly £300 behind

Whats your line here??

Bit more info please. What is UTG image ? Was it a full ring game? (relevant as to range pre villain is putting you on). Was it Ace of spades on river ?

UTG was young ABC players, pretty poor and playing scared.

Very big bet sizing tells.

River doesnt complete the flush

9 handed

With the dynamics which I don"t pretend to understand I could be way off the mark but here it goes. I think villain puts you on a decent hand if not premium hand to be 3 betting utg+1 against a tight utg raiser, albeit as I undertand it he probably would have raised bigger with a big pair. He doesn"t necessarily have to have a premium hand to be 4 betting here but needs to very playable e.g I dont see many eights in his range.

I always struggle to to put donk bettors on a range but I guess after you have also bet the 8 on the turn (which is not likely to improve either hand ) he must put you on something  and have something to be calling. Id put his likely range something like AK,AQ, KQ KJ, QJ,JT,JJ,TT or AJ/AT spades. A fair range of these just rivered you. I dont think you can get much if any value here and I think few hands that are beating you will fold to a bet.

For me its a check, hope for a check behind and review depending on size of river bet. (sorry if thats an opt out).

Fun hand, and it really has confused me. My gut reaction is check/fold but thats just because I am a massive nit obv.

Interested in why you lead flop? Might bet a little bit more on the turn. Bet fold the river for like £72 is terrible? Just hating that river, I think there are a lot of AQ"s, or optomistic AJ/A10/10J type hands. I am going to go with check fold.

Pre Warning...this is a moan post!

Got bent over with variance both last night and again today....

Still reeling after last nights performance decided to play the standard schedule on boss:

5r
10r
30e

and some other bits

5r bust 10 from money AQ < KQ aipf for heaps......on the bubble

10r bust 88 < A5 aipf for loads

30e bust AK
Also decided to play some cash on DTD to try and rake some points for extra Day 1s for the Grand Prix...

£100 deposited.

Flopped set < Flopped flush in multiway pot

QQ < 99 aipf

AK < JJ aipf (he makes Quads obv)

Flopped straight and have to fold turn when guy plays hand face up as a FD and gets there.

Move to Omaha, only to get it all in 3 ways with NFD and wheel draw and pair vs bare wheel and set....dont win that either, so £100 down in that with 0 seats earnt!

Suppose i did win the APAT league game tonight!!! SCORE!!

Bloody Game!!

Well that didnt go to plan.....

Chipped up to 26k from 15k and then got bent over by the same players twice!

He open shoves utg with 99 and i wake up with AA UTG +1, all seems good until the door card bings out a 9.

FML, ok no probs back to starting

Then he open jams the button and i wake up in the SB with QQ....MBN....he flips A5 and the door card is an Ace!!

WOWZER

What a way to lose your only Golden Chip.

APATs very own Kev O Hanlon was CL when i bust, GL him....must be nice when stuff holds/gets there....i geniunely wouldnt know yet on the software.... :(

Still, won another Day 1 seat today, and locked up another at cash so have 4 in total....Im in the 2nd one now and hopefully will be able to report a monster stack going through to Day 2

Still in the flight 2 of Grand Prix....60 left with 13 going on to Day 2....rocking 20bbs at 6/12, so time to get busy

Also in final 14, and ITM of the 3k on boss....time to win this bad boy!

Made Day 2 of the DTD Grand Prix with 113k last night as well as FT in the 3k on boss.....sadly 9th in that when AJ < KK on a A high flop.

Played Token 3 of GP tonight and was crushing until QQ < A3 aipf and then AJ
Last token being played now, have 20k at 300/600 so lets see if we can get some more chippies for day 2.

Am in the £10, 50 seat gtd also, so may sneak another shot at the MERGE!

Also 10/37 the dreaded 10r on boss....FT 1time?

DTD Grand Prix - Where hearts are broken and dreams fulfilled.

Got to DTD, to see the place brimming with players and ready to rock.

~400 returned and I spot on Blonde that i am 5th in chips for Day 2....weeeeee, also get handed a payout structure sheet which was awful.

Had to get 12th to get 4 figs, and was just so so so flat until the Final Table was pretty shoddy.  Also meant that lots of players were happy to get chips in for stacks!! :)

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_1607_zps1b7a84d2.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_1607_zps1b7a84d2.jpg.html)

We started off pretty poorly losing a 200k pot with QQ v AQ aipf, board runs out KhxhxThJ and i also have the Qh, so pretty sick but onward and upwards!!

TBH it took me a while to settle, and i was bleeding chips (lucky i had a bunch to start) until i hero called a villian on Q7852ss board when he over bets river...i call with KJ high and am good....

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/tumblr_mtlaqnr3So1sr39gto1_250_zps58ff51cd.gif) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/tumblr_mtlaqnr3So1sr39gto1_250_zps58ff51cd.gif.html)

Some guy moves to my left with similar stack and tries to take me on in every pot.....generous soul.

We get into a pre flop war with K8ss v JJ, and see a flop of AK4.  I fire all 3 streets and he hero calls the river with JJ...thank you please!!

Lose a couple of flips, and bust a few players and before we know it we have 1.5m and am one of the CLs again.

To be honest the next few hrs are a bit of a blur, and we just kinda maintain until the last level of the day where it all goes on....

At 30k/60k/10k ,playing 1.7m, i open UTG + 1 to 125k with AK and the CO jams for ~1m.  Folded round to me and i call.....although its not on me, the BB has cards but as in the 1 seat, he has them to the side of the chips and i cant see them.....he then announces all in (900k) and my call stands...which is fine by me.

CO - 66
BB - 99
Hero - AK

Pot ~2.9m

Nice Equity for the CL going into the Day 3 i suppose!!!

Board - 3...5...8
Turn - ...........A!!!!
River - ..........6

Im left with 700k and then get a 1 round penalty for calling out of turn!!! Great - 180k out of my stack!!!  Just what i need!!

In reflection, its a weird spot, as i cant honestly say i would call if the BB jammed prior to me making my action..... i know its all in hindsight, but i had played with him for hrs, and he was tight....anyways....i just need to learn flips i guess!!!  Or hold when i bink.

I sit down and there are 11mins left of the day and i have < 10bbs now....i mean, how many times am i gonna be sickened at the end of the day.....???

I open jam 4/6 hands and get them all through....Bag up 1.4m and am in Day 2 with a chance!!!

Day 2 -

Most importantly was this:
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_1617_zpsba102420.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_1617_zpsba102420.jpg.html)

Now en route to Notts i did everything i could to invoke good karma. I let people in, in traffic and generally acted as pleasent as physically possible.

This resulted in me missing FB breakfast by 10mins.....sigh

HOWEVER.......As i walked into FB, the Voilet haired waitress ( from the last trip - TG ) skipped over and said "I guess youll want Breakfast....wheres the rest of them?"  BOOOOOOOM

She couldnt forget TG obv, and got chef to make me Breakfast....this gonna be a good day!!!

I ate Breakfast and headed to DTD to take down the title.....forgetting one thing...."We Dont Win Flips!"

The first level went by, and was card/spot dead...as i either had rags in EP or by the time i had even squeezed a card there was an open and a 3 jam.....

Then 3 hands took place in a row that spelt the end of the tourny for this hero....

Hand 1:

Blinds 50k/100k/25k

Folds to Julian Thew in SB who jams 1.9m into Hero in BB.
We Squeeze K9dd and am playing 1.5m

We go into the tank and fold face up....and am shown KJ
Now i think this is really, REALLY close....but decide to fold and show Thewy what i am folding here....in the hope that he will now open he BvB and BTN v Blinds Open Jam range....

Thoughts....i dont mind calling it off here

Hand 2 - Very next hand....

Folds to Thewy again who open jams the Btn for 2m and we squeeze A9o but before i can say anything the BB (playing 5m asks for a chip count!!) FML now im in a spot....

I fold and the BB calls with 88.  Thewy shows KQ and wiffs the board....

Not sure if i levelled myself here.  As soon as i saw A9 i was snapping, and it was only the bb asking for a count that detered me....amazing no 1 rd penalty for him :)

Hand 3 - UTG opens to 275k from a 2.7m stack (ish) and i jam AK from BTN.......he tanks for an age then calls it off with 88.

Time to win a flip?? Ahhhhh nope!

6..3..2..4..8 run out.....Not even an mini sweat, not one bead!!!

Sigh, so another top 50 in the DTD Grand Prix is in the books....twice now, which considering the field size (with online runners et al) is pretty good i suppose........I guess ill win that important flip one day....gotta keep hoping else no point playing the game.

Pretty gutted, i embarked on the 2 hr drive.........that took 3.5hrs!!

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/tumblr_mtlalzWevP1sr39gto1_250_zps8b8a158d.gif) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/tumblr_mtlalzWevP1sr39gto1_250_zps8b8a158d.gif.html)

Crash on the A44 meant that we were in an absolute standstill for over an hr....so all i could do in that time is follow Blonde Updates and torture myself even more....

Still other good news today.....Boss are doing another Vienna Deluxe at the Monteniso Vienna.....this is the best card room i have ever been too and i am 100% looking to qualify for this on APAT.....

Lets go....

Oh here is a pic of some bloke with a Milly in chips......

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_1622_zpsb146ccdf.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_1622_zpsb146ccdf.jpg.html)

Managed to run QQ into AA in the KO for a 157th place, bust the 10r just before money with AJ into KK and then come 2nd in the APAT league game after having a 4/1 CL.

t8hh v QQ on 8762hh and we wiff due to too many outs syndrome!!!

Back on the horse....

Oh but span $20 into $200+ on stars with some MTT cashes and some zoom!!

EDIT lost half of it QQ v K9ss aipf running it twice

Finally got round to splitting my BR onto a few sites, in order to keep me playing within my BR etc etc.

Played a few on boss, and bubbled the FT of the 5r when a delightful fellow decided calling off a 17bb 3b jam with KJo is profitable, well it was this time for him....sigh

Still in a few but a b/e day at best unless we can turn it around.

Stars saw me cruise out of the Big 11 AA < QQ aipf and the $22 big antes AK < A7 aipf

DTD saw me just get bent over in the sats, and a few buyins down at NL10, grinding away these FR seats.

Ironically the only site im crushing is SkyPoker where i put £100 just to try out nl20 and see how i like the software etc and from 3 tabling im currently +£50.....oh **** as i say that the same reg cracks my AA aipf for the 2nd time this session....so +£30 now....fml

13/13 in a final one on boss, twas cl if not for gutterballs and other unhelpful RNG shizzle.

GL to all those bosses in Vegas, must be nice eh!

Ended up a few quid down on Sky, the same villian that bust my AA aipf 2 times, then stacks me KK into his AA.  He has won a grand total of £100 off me in those 3 hands, so not bad to be pretty much BE
Title: Re: Grown Men, Alter Egos and Comic (Book) Poker Exploits
Post by: s4ooter on November 08, 2013, 01:09:50 AM
That same bloody Sky Villian busted my AA another 3 times tonight for stacks......lucky i crush everyone else and am still up on the site....

Shoved £100 on there yest and am sat £130ish, even after "dontelmum" ruined me a few times...Bloody sleep with his mum if he keeps flopping sets vs my AA.  Amazingly ive also ran KK into AA aipf 2 times....so just these scenarios alone have prob cost me ~£150 WOW

Spunked off some more ££ on DTD sats and managed to gift Leigh 100bbs when i decide 5b calling it off with A9o bvb is a good idea!? I dunno.....  However the rest of the cash game went as planned and my Original deposit of £200 is now around £230ish also.  Also got the Freeroll tickets locked up after 2 days, even if it meant battling the cash games vs Fred Wise, Alex Goulder and a few other heroes....

As for boss, its the same old bubble magic....then this one

Stars Big $11.....Late Reg with a minute or two to spare in and 15mins im top 20 in chips....

Sadly, its another one of those "Oh-so-nears" for DW as i came 119/9140 for ~$70 with 14k uT.....lost a huge flip with J9dd v AKo on K97dd for 1.8x average chips and never recovered.....

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/tumblr_mtl7f2lfa91sr39gto1_500_zpsd4bbc714.gif) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/tumblr_mtl7f2lfa91sr39gto1_500_zpsd4bbc714.gif.html)

Gotta keep telling myself "One Day"

Oh, and won the Vegas Game tonight, coming back from 1bb :)

Tonight was easy to sum up.

Made it through 15 players to qualify for LV final, but sadly wasnt meant to be.  Lost 2 big flips,  including getting 4 flushed on a 9xxhh flop with my 99 vs his AJhx.  Runner Runner ftw eh. 94% Equity FTL!!!!  Eventually bust AK into KK, but all in all it was pretty disgusting to run so poorly in a sng with such a good prize.

Somehow a guy playing 44/10 has all the chips 4 handed, after i bust in 5th, i mean he"ll prob go to Vegas.  What a Life!!

The APAT Online Main was pretty shoddy, grinded 10bbs for ever.  Jammed 97hh bvb as the guy has played 4 hands the whole game and he wakes up with AQ.....timing....this left me with 1bb and got that back to 10bb until button jams 11bb with K5cc and gets there with the flush on turn vs my A9 (i even flop an Ace!!)

The APAT Omaha was going ok until some fish :) managed to river an Ace on 79JAddd vs my KJdd97xx when holding 77xx - sigh!!!  Ground it back to about 20 left and the same fish, i mean villian, managed to flop a K with Kxxx vs my QJJ9ds - fun eh!!

I did manage a 2nd in the Nov APAT Vegas League Game WOOOOOOOOOOOO and wiffed everything else.  Still grinding the Cash on Sky Poker and think we may be booking a winning session?!?!?!

Kinda peed off i managed to get my HUD to work on Boss after updating PT4, as prior it wouldnt HUD MTTs and i wouldnt know that said villian was playing sooooo sub-optimumly and winning all the pots!!!

So this week so far has been quiet.

We qualified for the DTD Freeroll series with a game each day, averaging 50 runners and each one awards top 5 a £100 seat that can be used for any of the clubs £100 events....or for satty entry to the £1k buyins.

Blanked the first 2 but 5 shots left, so wish us luck!!!

Also played 1 Vegas League Game and won it.  Think im still in top 8 only playing 6 games, where the rest have played 11 or so.....if only the final sng was so easy!!

Also won a Big $33 ticket via Pokerstars Friday Giveaways on Twitter. Go me!!  Im ust admit, im pretty lazy when it comes to entering this but when asked to take a movie title and replace 1 word to a poker term, the best i could come up with was "4bets and a funeral", somehow that won!! haha

Skill Game!!

You may remember (if i posted about it) i won a Unibet Chip Set, Polo Shirt, Bat + Ball and Playing Cards in a twitter competition not long ago aswell.....May have to take up Twitter Comps for a living, i seem to boss!!! :)

Lost £60 playing cash on DTD today, was £150 up then it went wrong.  These games are so soft, but sometimes those silly billys jamming £50 with 43ss do get there.....this was today.  Also lost a massive pot (£220) in omaha with 2nd set vs top set.  Pretty Vile

We also pure bubbled a £55 seat on Sky Poker aiming to get into the £1k Main coming 2/15 with 1 seat.

We also pure bubbled a £55 seat on Stars for a seat in the sat for a UKIPT Notts seat coming 4/23

We also pure bubbled a DTD £100 seat from the £16.50 sat......we also had a bubble +1 (both to ghey 3 outers)

We also pure bubbled the FT of the 6e 666e gtd game on boss running AK into AA

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/tumblr_mtlaqnr3So1sr39gto1_250_zps58ff51cd.gif) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/tumblr_mtlaqnr3So1sr39gto1_250_zps58ff51cd.gif.html)

Still, we are winning slowly but surely on Sky and i still have the DTD Freerolls to play Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun :)

Also got a 4th in the Vegas League thingy too. Yay

Checklist of shizzle to win:

£1k UKIPT seat
£1k Sky Poker seat
£100 DTD 6 max Seat
Vegas Package

To start :)

Team Championships in Stoke.

I have withdrawn from team GNF this year, so will not be able to complete the historic treble with them!!  We, well they now, have won the title back to back and are firm favourites to go 3 in a row.

Why wouldnt i want to play with them, i hear you ask??

Well the GNF community is only really 16-20 core posters, and some of those havent had the chance to play the event yet so i figured i would let someone else have a go, pretty scary to think with only 16 or so to choose from.

Anyways, im sure i will be ok for a team with the In The Muck Poker Podcast playing last year, and hopefully the newest Poker Group to take APAT by Storm (Team Gotham Obv!!) will be allowed a spot.

One thing for sure, is that ill be there, another leg of the cash tour to try and bubble by pennies, and another team title to try and win!!

Weird hr so far

Won a £100 seat on DTD in the Freeroll so will be in a £100 satty later to try and lock up a UKIPT Notts seat.

Bust the Stars 6 max near bubble is a stupid spot where i 4b jam 35bbs with AQ and hero calls off with KTss.

Also lost a huge pot in the Storm, 88 v Q8 - mbn but still got 20bbs.

Managed to go from 33/38 to 9/30 in Sky Deepstack

Still got the 2 biggest games to load, the satty for the £1k Sky Poker and the £100 DTD

QQ < K5ss bvb in the storm with 1300 left, now super short.

Missed out on a £1k seat. Lost 88 v AK aipf, K on river to be 2/14 with 8 seats.

Lets keep the chin high tho, we are used to all of the disappointment!!!

Decided to 4 table some NL20 and play the £11 £2K gtd Bounty Hunter.

Now im not sure why the cash tables can be played on the new look, and MTTs only the old but that needs to be fixed.  The old layout is vile, and the new a lot slicker.

Managed to pure bubble the HH after the guy to my left just had it EVERY time.  One hand he flops quads and i decide its the time to make a really really thin value bet on the river to be clicked back.  I cant fold and get showed Quads. yuk.  I also lost a 15k pot in the 2nd level and missing 2 bounties with the OESFD on flop missing vs Top Top and Top pants.

Bounties left me in profit but not a lot.

Cash went well and there was a villian whom had about £70 in front of him and was woeful.  Value towned that guy for lots and ended the session up just over 2 buyins.

Also played a £3 aipf satty for the £52 UK sat and bust.

Profit/Loss on the day: +£41

Winding down a pretty good 90 min session on Sky although i did just time out in a £30 pot on river.

Pretty sick, as villian 3bs pre and i call OOP with AQ. Flop A high and a flush draw.  I chk call flop and same on turn but purposely time bank to induce a barrell on river.  Blank river and i chk again....he bets....i click call but nothing happens!!!

I time out and he shows the club draw...sigh.

Set it up, and laggy pc cost me the monies!!

Villian was owed the money tho as earlier he decided to flat my 4b with KK when i had JJ and i was getting it in.

So results time:

Played the £5.50 timed game and didnt win a pot.

3 tabled NL20 and 1 tabled NL30 for about 90 mins and ended +£80ish

Same again tomorrow we hope!!

I love Sky Poker, soooo soft.  Although did find myself on a few tables with Chris....eeeek

In honour of Alfonso Ribiera"s appearance on IACGMOOH, this is todays run good gif.

The Project

Not sure if i have mentioned this, but somebody acquired a very poorly poker table in need of a good home this week.

Being the caring citizen that i am, i duely obligied and enlisted the help of my brother to get it to my house.

Now....i drive a Ford Puma, and for those that know the car also know that a Poker Table is NOT fitting in there at all.  No problem, i thought, ill borrow my brothers Honda Civic to get it in to.....Oh wait! F*ck! Still doesnt fit.

We then had to borrow my Brothers StepDads car (long story) and finally got it back.  WOOOOP.

Cant belieive i have to thank my promicious father for all this, as without his inabilty to keep only women i would be brotherless who, in turn, would be stepfatherless, and more importantly i would be poker tableless!!!

Anyways, i have included some pics although you guys

(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_1862_zps646999ba.jpg) (http://s955.photobucket.com/user/s4ooter/media/IMG_1862_zps646999ba.jpg.html)

Now i know what you guys/gals are thinking, and dont you worry.  Being the shrewd businessman that i am, i didnt have to pay any extra for the mould!!

I know its pretty vile but its gonna be a great project to keep me busy.  It does, however, need to be ready for Dec 21st when i host the monthly homegame so pressure is on!

Not the greatest day at the tables on Sky today.

Started off like a steam train (woo woo) only to start to fall off the cliff.

Got stacked for 4 buyins in the end of the session and all pretty sick.

KQ < 99 om QQx9x when most of the money gets in on flop, he raises flop and then hits the gin turn
55 < QT on x5QQT - Money in on turn
K5 < 88 on 46787 - Money in on turn
77 < 28dd on 3947dd - Money in on turn

These were the four most prominent in my mind.

Also ran into a lot of spots that, again, are unavoidable but just costly.  Seemed that whenever i got floated the turn/river was just smacking their range.  Add to that the annoying abilty of not being able to get bluffs through and not connecting (in 3b pots) with any of my flopped Flush or Straight draws.  Goes like that sometimes.  Not sure how we can get 3 way in a 3b pot and flop a set on AK5 or AQ6 with the bottom set and get no action

Nobody likes to book a losing session, but sometimes its unavoidable.

-£50 today

Big UpsideDown Smiley Face

Overall P/L for Sky Poker this month is still a healthy £170 so not the end of the world.  Just glad its the end of that session.

Funniest moment is when told to move to this juicy table, the value busts the first hand i sit, and then i get stacked 2 hands later in the KQ v 99 hand above lol.

Timing!

I am not happy :(

Missed a £1k Sky seat for the 2nd week running by 7 places after a rTard, with J4 and K3, decimated me.

Was close to decent scores in a few, including QQ < AJ aipf in the boss 3k with 20 left.

S"pose for £11 its pretty good to get that close, but im not interested in close! Im interested in £1k!!!!

Once i lock one, i can then grind them as for £1k additions to the BR

For every good hr, there is a bad hr.

We have rebought and added on in the rebuy only to lose half the stack with KK v ?? when villiand jams the turn A.

Was down to 500 chips in the £55 BH when 99 < 55 for a bounty

TT < A3 for stacks on cash, as well as having KK v 89 on 88844 for stacks too lol

Time to turn the screws.  Back up to 2k in the £55 and cant get going in the £11r or £11BH

Good Afternoon Sports Fans, Dribblers and Slugs alike.

Poker has been very quiet for me the last month or so, sometimes due to Roulette taken favour and sometimes due to laziness on my behalf.

I do, however, plan to take 2014 very seriously on the felt.

Almost finished building the Poker Table, which will get it first use on the 21st, in my favourite homegame of the year.

In Dec i will also be playing a day or 2 of the Sky UKOPC, and prob sell a bit for you lovely people :)

In the New Year, i will be targeting my main focus of Sky Poker Cash Games as well as hammering sats for a multitude of festivals.

Sky UK Champs
DTD Grand Prix (time to best go better than 51st/28th from last 2 years)
GPS
UKIPT Notts
25/25 Series (prob start with Soton with TG)

As well as the rest of the APAT stops.

In other news, we had a slice in Batman in his 25/25 shippppp!!! :)

Guy was so overdue, and am chuffed for him.  Although i feel this means that i will be getting abused more in the TG house, due to results.

Sigh!!

WCOAP 2014 Round Up a roooooooo

Back to the real world, but what a great week it was (as always).

Jumped on the early train to Paddington, and having pre reserved my seat i was looking forward to a comfortable, relaxing ride....Oh wait, hang on, this is the Paddington train in the morning....Kids screaming, Business men in their poorly tailored suits and sales patter.....epic sigh.  Decided reading Nuts magazine would be enough to get the parent back, for letting her kid kick me all the way there.  Boob Alert!!

As i arrive in Stratford i call Chris and find out that the rest of the Team Gotham are already ploughing down on some TGI Fridays, so order the ribs and embark on the 12hr journey from the bottom floor of Westfield Shopping Centre, to the third floor.  Lugging bags is not fun!!  However ultimately worth it when greeted to a whole rack of ribs and the greatest friends in the world (Soppy Moment Alert!!).  I geniunely look forward to seeing these guys, couldnt ask for a better bunch to tell my beat stories too!! ;)

Food Polished, its to the Casino we go and i jump into my first event.  A standard Holdem event to warm up.  Early stages went ok, but i couldnt seem to gather momentum until i peel a 3b from a local with 79cc and see a lovely 8c Tc Kh flop.  We get it in, he has KK.  Oh dear....but nope, i use my 1 time for the week and ask the dealer for the 6c on turn..........to which he duly obliges!!  Thanks :)  Sadly, that was the only highlight of this event, and we bust 4 or so hrs in when a player moves to our table and open jams 20bbs UTG +1....i decided to call off 15bbs with AJss and am amazed to see he has AK....Oh Noes!!!

At least i can play the event named after me in the evening...........Oh, Hello....Stud :)

Stud went fine for me, although starting table saw RedSimon (aka Snoopy the Dog) and Webber on my table as well as the rungood machine Warren Jones....Warren plays the first 10 so hands to 7th street and shows down the best hand each time....i mean, what a life!!!  Cruising along, i lose a big pot with 3 tables left and bust to the rudest, most obnxious guy i have ever played with. Sigh.  Still, Perry FTs it, so not all lost for TG.

Day 2 of the festival, and its Mixed Games in the evening however i am feeling good so decide to flick in the High Roller.  Due to my deep run i have to miss the mixed game but sadly i am cut short in my quest for the first FT.  Manage to collect tokens effortlessly for a good few hrs in the High Roller, and with 17 left i have 170k and the Chip Lead, but its not meant to be.  Find myself card dead for 2hrs (4 levels) and lose a flip to find myself really short.  I then get the rest in with A7 vs AQ and its 13th for me......

Another late night is on the cards, as 3 members of Team Gotham final table the Mixed Games with Don "Commisionner Gorden" Roberts bowing out in 7th, Batman in 4th and Robin wins it....Boooom, another Bracelet in the Team and Chris finally breaks his duck.  The guy deserves that 1st, and it also puts him ahead of Warren in the POTY race, so thats an added bonus!!

In high spirits, its Day 3 and the Antes Up for me.  Really looking forward to this event, but its a non starter.  Chip up nicely for a few levels until LegoHead moves to my table with 1k or so, 3 hands later he busts me.  Ouch.  Nothing out of the ordinary, A4 < 58, A6 < AQ, A9< AK and we are done.....sad face.....but at least we get to play HORSE :)

The structure in the Horse was really odd, super fast in the early stages, but a lot deeper later on.  Jon the TD was on hand to solve any issues, and as always it was a great event.  I have worked on my Horse since last year, but not enough it seems.  We go a fair few hrs deep until Perry, yes my own TG member, KOs me.  Thanks MATE!!! Jokes!!

Friday comes and its SHOOOOOOOTTTTOUT TIME!!
I get a sick table draw, Warren Jones, John Murray, Ben Andrews, Mat Rosens all on the table.  Its pretty swingy, but i fancy my chances and manage to get 3 handed with Ben and Mat and with the Chip Lead.  These two then proceed to get it in a few times, with Ben being the victor.  With a very slight chip disadvantage vs Ben i still fancy this. Win this Heads Up and its Cash #1 and FT #1.  Ben 3b jams J9 into my A9 but the flop and turn find a Jack and thats me "bubbled".  Pretty gross.  He goes on to take 2nd, so fair play to him.

What else to do, but jump into the 6 max.  This event was a weird one for me, i started with a beautiful dealer and a good table that included Leigh Wiltshire (Woody from Toy Story), Liam "Legohead" Crawford, Bricktop and Gru from Dispicable Me.  Things were yo-yo for a while until i managed to get a stack.  I then play a stupid pot vs Ky Hutchinson in which i decide that 3b his open with A2ss on button is the way forward, this is the only part of the hand that is fine.  He has 70k and i have 30k at 150/300 and i feel he will be opening super wide.  He then chucks out a 4b pretty quick, and i decide that he is "at it", so click 5b.....crazy in an APAT game i know, but i feel he has it in his locker to 6b light here....and im gonna 7b jam when he does....but the plan backfires as he recognises this and 6b jams and i have to fold.  He shows 7Tcc, well played him.....Thing is, i dont need to do this in the field as i am picking up chips so easily anyways....i know i have a case of FPS (Fancy Play Syndrome) sometimes, and have made serious efforts to reign it in.

I then double Roddy Farmer up bvb when his 84o out flops my A5 and find myself with 14bbs.  A crazy hand then happens..........

Ky opens, and Roddy 3b jams.  Now i know Roddy plays a lot of 6 max, so i know this is gonna be quite wide.  I have A4 and decide to rejam, but Ky has QQ.  Oooops

Roddy shows 77.....how wrong am i?

Flop comes Q3T.......K.......J.......What a luck box i am!!!

I get moved from the table, reign it in and start to play properly again after my 1hr of madness and manage to get to the final 30 or so.  I get moved to Chris" table but bust 2 hands in when AA < 88.  Finish another deep run of the day, a table or so from the ££

Ian "Catwomen" Witt manages to FT the Razz for a bit of a Day Saver for TG
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_8694_zpsf66b7669.jpg)

MAIN EVENT TIME!!!

My ME went pretty bleurgh, and i think the day before and all those "oh-so-nears" makes me play pretty badly.  I bust pretty early cold 4b, calling LegoHeads (yes he is always on my table!!) jam, with 77.  There is a little dynamic but i think i overplay my hand badly, as i level myself into thinking that if he is super strong he would 5b small to get me to jam.

OR opens, Liam 3b, i 4b, OR folds, Liam jams 10k more at 100/200 and i call it off.  Yea its woeful.

As i havent played the Mixed or the Razz i use that money to play in the cash champs that evening.  All is well for the first half of phase 1, i chip up from £100 to £150 in the 25p/25p phase, but the wheels fall off in 25p/50p.  Lose a decent wedge when villian check calls all 3 streets with A9 on A25T9 vs my AK and a few other ones.  Then get villian to put in his last £70 on J83hh with J8ss vs 9To only for the 7 the slam on the turn.....we dont fill up.  Very next hand its QQ < AK aipf for the last of my monies and another early shower for me....

PLO goes really well, and in the late stages i find myself on a table with Chris and Perry.  Chris busts and Ian joins the table.  Then Perry wins a 3 way all in, on the flop, to amass a gazillion chips and look pretty nailed on to be the 1st ever back to back bracelet winner in the same event (he won this event in DTD last season)

Sadly, for me, its another "almost"
Playing 50k-60k i get it all in pre vs Perry with AcAhQc7d vs his QdTd9c4c

The flop has an Ace on it, but the turn brings a 2nd diamond and a gutty draw, the river is the Jd and im 1 card away from FT average and out on the rail.  Dont think i have ever been more gutted by a river.  Dont get me wrong, not angry or sulking but just purely gutted.  I have only started playing PLO this season and have managed to use my basic knowledge of the game to make FTs of each live spot ive played, and most of the Online ones also.  A FT in this larger field would have really cemented my PLO skills to myself however i am really happy with the way i played in this event.  If this festival is for players to try new disciplines in poker and enjoy them then it works.  I love PLO.

Sadly for Perry, he loses a flip Heads Up and can only manage a 2nd, but that is an awesome feat!!

The Heads Up is my last chance of success, and the draw throws up some interesting ties.

My first round game is against good friend John Patten (JP on GNF) and after a swingy battle my QJ bests his A2 aipf.
Round 2, sees Batman vs Riddler
(http://i955.photobucket.com/albums/ae36/s4ooter/IMG_9057_zpse0520285.jpg)

Perry being Victorius!!

I exit in Round 2, losing a 8k pot on A5244 holding 36....guy has 24 and im on fumes.... He polishes me off when i jam my last 2k on 853.  He has A8 and my 67 cannot find the outs it needs.... Boo Hoooo.

So, all in all we draw a blank in the events.

Still No one can ever accuse TG of softplay as this week:
Perry KO Dave in Heads Up
Perry KO Me in PLO
Perry KO Me in Horse
Webber KO Dave in Mixed Games

Hang on..........Perry just crushes us all......

Nice read Dann was a fun few days for sure. Lots of TG splattered around the casino, you need to get some patches made up  :)

Was good to sit at the same table as Chris a couple of times and can see how he runs deep so often.

The 7 bet jam with A2 seems pretty standard, it was suited after all  ::)

Really nice write up Dann, great weekend with great people.

Would also like to point out I knocked out Perry in the RoE (and that he needed 3 lives to beat me heads up!).

And Webber in turn knocked me out of the RoE, on the FT no less - much like the GUKPT final we both played. No love lost in Team Gotham.

Don is definitely Alfred, a loveable cockney who"s always there to step into the breach.

Carl, you"re right, we need patches...

As most already know, we shipped the £56 + 1 addon G Casino Coventry Titan yesterday.

20k s/s, 20k addon and GUKPT structure.

Made Day 2 with 108k and span up to CL with over a million with 20 left.

Went to FT with 2.5m of 8m in play and grew stack to 4m with 7 left.....lost about 7 all ins but rallied and just hammered on the ft as they were all wanting to ladder.

Offered a deal 4 handed in which i took 1st, and the other 3 split the rest (i had 6m of 8m chips and they had about 4bbs each) one guy refused.....so i just bust them all.

Fowler may correct me but think i actually busted every player at the FT......thanks for the rail matey.

£5620/$9458 - almost 5 figs

So......a week to Vegas.....cant wait.

Just ordered all of my $$ and picked them up. Some reason, Post Office decided that 4.5k in $$ didnt need 100s.  Yes yes, they have given me all of it in 50s....balla!!

"50 Dolla" Bill Y"all!"

Have been a bit excitable on the staking and have pieces of a few friends out there also, so lets hope someone makes the monies!!

Been playing cash at Harbourside last few weeks, and doing ok.  Playing £1/£1 ive turned £200 into £700 and £200 into £300 however the second session left me with a sick feeling.  Managed to get into an £800 pot with AA v TT and AK, only for TT to river a set aipf.....SICK!!!  He He, my own fault for deciding on the turn that i was gonna spend the money in vegas playing 2/5 as a shot.....stupid Dann.

Other News, Smashed my iphone yesterday at the petrol station.....id like to say that i threw it at a robber, fleeing with a young ladies bag, to daze him before i stepped in for a Citizens Arrest.....however i just dropped it.

Looking forward to the Bristol Leg of the new tour, youll mostly find me grinding £1/£1 me thinks.....

Caio for now!

Poker, Singing and the One That Never Played The Main

Fridays at APAT Festivals, since the demise of the Cash Tour, have always been interesting and this one tops the lot.  Firstly i manage to make a simple 1hr drive last 2 1/2 hrs with an inability to remember where the hell i am going, and a Sat Nav that seems to have a mind of its own.  Upon arriving, i find Dwayne and his friend Mark (Sorry Acquaintance) at the Hotel and head to the bowling alley for some Pool, whilst awaiting the arrival of the rest of the Motley Crue.  I dont win all my frames, which is just stupid, but is just a small blip on the night as a whole.

After finding nowhere that will allow us to eat and watch the Rugby at the same time, we decide to hit the Casino.  Fed and watered, Dwayne and Dave leave Chris, Simon and I with Mark and the night just snowballs......

Deciding that the bowl 50p/50p cash table is the way to go, Mark and I sit whilst the other spin on the table games.  Mark is somewhat drunk and decides that a good introduction to us all and APAT is to berate just about everyone....the dealers, the players...hmmmm right....good plan sir!  I spend most of the evening encouraging the whole cash table to sing "You are my Sunshine" on multiple occassions....Mark finds this not as much fun as i do, and before long has vanished after i jokingly tell him if he doesnt behave, he"ll be walking back to the hotel......i guess he did.

I find out in the morning that he has gone home, and supposedly he thought we were being horrible to him....well that couldnt be farther from the truth, but i just leave that be and carry on with my weekend!!!

The Main Event is pretty uneventful for me, first table is nothing short of friendly with Brian Yates, PokerJason, Mrs Duncan and Sharon all on my table, i struggle to get anything going probably due to the bright pink pokeriety patch i am doning, but a table move cant come soon enough.

Sadly, i bust about 3 hands into the new table vs Jon Laight and Dave Griffiths when i get 97cc in on 765ssc vs A3ss and KQss...the turn is the 9s and we dont boat up :( Boooo.....

Jump into the £30 side event and spin like a hero, have 3x ave most of the comp and bar 2 missteps....Letting Leigh 3b me pre with 85o and not get punished, and jamming JJ into AA (we win obvs) i make the FT in the top 3 stacks....Dwayne also makes it there.  I refuse a saver for 7th and get berated, ironically Dwayne busts me on the bubble but loses HU to the guy that wanted the saver...so my refusal costs me £50 and earns villian an extra £50....ooops

Driving back to the hotel, i managed to get pulled over by the police, to top my night off.....the jobsworth is obviously testing to see if i am drunk etc, he swiftly lets me on my way, and gives me directions to the hotel....but i take another wrong turn....well done me....get back to the hotel and the TG boys are no where to be seen....at least i can get to sleep before Simon gets back....i mean, anyone else know snoring that sounds like a Grizzly Bear and a Hyena fighting??  Painful....haha

Sunday is PLO8 side event for Dwayne, Simon and I, whilst Chris and Dave are still in the ME....but not long enough to stop them jumping into the PLO8 also.  Dwayne is first out but manages to get a reentry, and we all fall like flies....except for Dwayne who manages to navigate his 2nd final table and ends up taking it all besting John Murray Heads Up....WP Sir.

The poker was far from memorable for me this weekend however it has a few memorable moments.

Mark...just Mark...wow
Getting the table to break out "you are my sunshine" "bang bang" "boom shake the room" and many other classics
Laura demanding i "eat her burger"
LegoHead making me show my best "Louis Spense Walk" across the casino.
Derek Rowland....what an absolute legend.

Next Stop - WCOAP.......

Gonna be a marathon day of poker for me tomorrow, before my 1st day of work in my new job!! AT LAST!!

Im gonna be streaming www.twitch.tv/igoweewee (http://www.twitch.tv/igoweewee) pretty much all of the day, including the APAT Main Event, which will be the full screen feature table whilst im still in it (so about 15mins or so).

This should be a great laugh, especially if you are sat on my table, as i WILL be abusing you all on the stream.

Would love you all to come join the hilarity, get involved in the chat etc, as this will be the 1st time any APAT Online event has been featured on twitch.

Whilst on my channel, do make sure that you click the "Favourite" button, really helps me grow my stream....so thanks in advance.

See you all tomoz

Dann

Going for an epic spin up from now until WCOAP....
Got £5 free from Bet365 and have doubled it to £10, so will be looking to spin it up as high as I can before WCOAP.

The first bet was PSG/Benfica double, both the qualify.

Today"s bet is thanks to an inside tip that Judd Trump was out all night drinking and discharged himself from hospital. He plays Bingham at 2pm.

I have £6 on Bingham @13/8
The rest in £1 bets on Bingham 4-0/4-1/4-2/4-3

Let"s see how we go
