Welcome to The Fabulous Las Vegas, and the APAT North American Amateur Poker Championship, where we'll be kicking off APAT's Season 11 at 1pm local - which is 9pm UK time.

As usual, Lucy Amos will be keeping you up to date throughout the day, with a live update/blog and pics - we'll be concentrating on those UK APAT/Grosvenor/LPPL members that are taking part.

We'll play to completion today, on 30 minute levels with a 15k stack and finish, I suspect, around 3am (11am UK).

229 players so far and counting... $20k Guarantee smashed already...

Very first hand of the tournament.

Dan Owston calls Leigh to the table.

When he gets there, Ben Burnhill has all his chips in the middle and there's a flop of Jh 5d 10h

Dan "Ben's all in, but I haven't called yet..."

He calls.

Ben turns 10s 10c and Dan flips Js Jc

4d turn and 9c

Ben is the first casualty and is back at the desk to try again!

JP Round "avoids doing a Burnhill" and correctly folded his set.

-----

Darren Coleman pocket Queens on a 10h 8h Qd 7d ships it all in and gets called by a Villain holding Aces!

2s river and Darren is up to 32k.

-----

Gail Swain doubles with A6 on a 2 3 4 5 board, she ships and is called by the lower straight.

Holly Stanstead has just lost 6k in a hand.
She had AJ.
Villain raised to 700, she re-raised 1400.

Flop K 10 4.
He checks. Holly bets 1500.
He raises to 4k and she called.
Turn is 9 but puts 3  ♣ on board.
He bets another 4k so she folds.

He tells her he hit set of 10s...

Set over set smashed Bill Sheppard.

With a raise to 1275 pre from Villain and a re raise to 4500 pre, flop comes 2 7 4

Jack on the turn see Bill re raise to all in and the Villain calls.

Bill has 7's and Villain has Jacks.

River no good and Bill is sent to the rail.

Jason Kemp went a while ago but has only just given details.

He reckons he just decided to forget how to play poker.

He was at 80k just after dinner.

Hand 1 he tried a large river bluff against an opponent who had checked his rivered flush and instantly calls.

Hand 2 he raised the button even though SB had their stack in their hand and was clearly moving all-in...he folds.

Hand 3 he shoves 10bb utg with A s 4s, get called by AJ flop 4 K K, turn is a Q and then J on the river.

Charles Mason, hopefully you have a read of this...
Is the winner not the person we had to call back to the table when you had to split the pot...?
Certainly looks like him and I know he was Canadian..
He spoke French with his friend but good English to us at the table.

No I finished him off later, it was a funny hand though when we chopped, he shook hands went the rail completely dejected looking to the gods above only to be called back, he couldnt believe it!

However when it was his exit hand we were somewhat similar in chips, again we shook hands and he lefts not quite so forlorn this time, then the dealer calls him back saying he had a few chips left, he sits only to be told "Sorry I made a mistake and you really are out", a little cruel.
