Title: Inviting applicants to play for Team Scotland ECOAP 2017
Post by: LombBomb on July 17, 2017, 20:47:41 PM
Hi all, proud once again to lead Scotland in the forthcoming ECOAP in Spa in October, and I am inviting applications for those who would be interested in playing for the team.  The team event itself takes place on the 12th and 13th October and is priced at €110 per person plus cost of your team shirt(s).  There is a full festival of events from the 11th to the 15th, I'll be travelling over from London on the afternoon of Wednesday 11th.  In the last ECOAP we finished 3rd and I would like to go a little bit better this time!  So please get in touch via PM on here or Facebook if you have me on there, I would welcome selection headaches and if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Thanks
Tom

You had to put that video up didn't you. One time I humiliate myself for charity and you can't let it go.

Good luck.
Question though: When I asked Des if someone eg me who has dual(maybe multi lol) nationality could play for a second country and he said that once you represented a country you could not switch. Has this rule changed?

Good question.  It has happened once before that a player has represented one country and then turned out for a second.  That was when Laxie represented the USA and then Ireland B a couple of years later.  I can't recall how exactly she pulled it off, although we were aware, but it isn't something that I'd personally be in favour of.  I don't know how far plans are advanced here, but Craig playing for Scotland is an odd fit for me, when he's captained Canada on several occasions in the past.  Ultimately, this particular event is taking place through our Belgian arm and we do give them a good deal of autonomy in terms of developing rules that will work in their market - but I would personally be anti this in the UK.

Many thanks for your take on the situation and for providing some clarity here Des. Wishing Team Scotland all the very best of luck at ECOAP.

Thanks for your response Des.  I didn't seek clarification for Craig because it's not setting a precedent and Canada will never be able to compete in a European team event.  If I'm faced with the same dilemma in future, I'll consult with APAT management first.

Thanks
