It was basically ICM - but the guy whilst the shortest stack haggles an extra $60k ... unreal ...

and next place out if no deal was $255k..... his ICM offer was $550k.  I don't think I would have been risking the deal for the sake of another $60k there.

...however a few hands after the deal was struck, he was a clear chipleader with a no deal shot at £2m.  I don't think I'd ever want to be seen as anxious to lock up last place money in any deal negotiations (he wasn't and benefitted for it).

True - albeit he could have easily been on the wrong end of the KK vs AK match up - first hand after the deal.

It was the chipleaders who were anxious so he milked them (with his giant milking machine).

I don't think it's greed to get the best deal possible. Very shrewd imo

Fair play to him, he got 2 guys to give him an extra 30k each, and it was funny to watch. Wish we could see whole conversation again + i missed bits of it. But next out was $255k and ICM was $550k. So i think i would probably take that extra $300k and be very happy. It really looked like the deal would be off at one point, and he just seemed to be chatting random things when everyone else was trying to discuss the deal with the admin guy, very funny.

* shrewd maybe, but it was just so commical to see chip leaders and eveyone else want a deal and then the shortstack saying no, i might doubble up and be right back in it.

Isn't hindsight wonderful?  Smiley

I just don't think I could risk missing out on the extra $300k - that would be my mortgage squared off.  I would hate to "no deal", then get coolered a hand or two later and depart with $255k - rather than a quarter million won, that would feel more like a third of a million lost.

I think they put them up about a week later ...

Very interesting table and negotiation - also first player out let themselves get blinded away.

It will be on pokerstars all next week, at least once a day, or if you miss it then it will be on pokerstars TV within a few days. They will edit out all of the negotiation skills though i would think.

As predicted, they didnt really talk about the deal which is a shame IMO. Would of been nice to hear their opions of tunafish taking 1 hr of negotiation and risking $300k for an extra $60k.
