Published as rooms in Cork seem to be in short supply.

Won't be able to make this one simply because it clashes with my other love and annual pilgrimage to the T In The Park music festival.

Just trying to figure out the best way to get there, they cancelled the Swansea to Cork Ferry FFS

It seems I have to drive to Birmingham then fly to Cork, thats doable.

Plan B

Take Thursday off
Drive to Chezger (I'll fix up the spare room)
Attend Aquarium rebuy fish fest Thursday night and get slaughtered
Sleep in Friday morning
Fly from Liverpool Friday afternoon (Trying Air @ 15:20)
Back Monday morning
Drive home
Job done

 Grin

EDIT - Liv-Ork £42 + admin = approx £54 total at the moment

An APAT weekend - Priceless*

Birmingham to Cork is £86 though leaving on Friday 6th at 1pm and returning Monday 9th at 11am. For some reason Bristol is really expensive

The Gresham Metropole only has a few rooms left (at least according to booking.com) for around £75 per night.

Likewise, the Isaacs (which is opposite the Metropole) has only 2 left (according to laterooms) for c.£65 per night.

Windsor Inn (also v.close) via laterooms now only £65 but also filling up.

Establishments (beverage-wise)

Dan Lowerys: Opposite the Issacs (we measured it at 22 yards...I forget why)  Grin

Nice little pub, but a bit homey for my liking. Not big.

The Shelbourne: 22 yards up MacCurtain Street from Dan Lowery's (yes, we measured that too)  Grin

Nice big pub with limited outdoor seating out front for the smokers or those who just want to watch the young ladies walk by. Allegedly with free Wifi.

Recommended.

More to come when I return from lunch

OK...where was I?

Oh, before anything else..Aer Lingus have a sale on. http://www.aerlingus.com/travelinformation/weboffersfromuk/ireland-20off/?campid=loninbound29may12

Back to it.

Wandering down Mac Curtain Street, we cross the lights to Coburg Street, home to:

The Corner House

Nice place. Wood floors and walls (as I recall) and the only place I found Irish Music being played.

Not a huge amount of seating but extensive nevertheless.

and,

Sin é

I had high hopes for this place but it proved to be a pokey little hole, cramped and with very little seating. that said, an eclectic music selection was being played but the whole vibe for me was that it was trying to hard to be 'artsy'.

YMMV.

Breakfast.

If you fancy a decent bite, I would recommend Rosinda's on MacCurtain Street. Dead close and very reasonable pricing but there were a number of other places close by.

Other food.

As I recall there was a mini-supermarket opposite the Isaacs if you fancied snacks. An uninspired, but adequate, Chinese (Crystal Inn) on the same street and, if memory serves, an Indian restaurant (Spice Route) which I did not visit.

A late night Chicken & Chips emporium was also to be found on the same street along with, perhaps, a kebab shop...at least according to Google Street View...my memory is...ahem...hazy.

You can read about my previous visit HERE and an here's example of the local fauna...

May seem an unlikely question to be answered to any degree of help as too many caveats, however ...

what would people who have been think the total cost would be for such a trip.

Base it on average hotel and sensible drinks!! ( ok how many rounds to be bought!)
