Thought i would start a thread to see who is coming down to Cardiff on the Friday before the Welsh Championships.

Meetup points and plans for the night?

Those who want a drink and music, may i suggest the Live Lounge, which is in the centre of Cardiff. Live music on a Friday night, and on this night they have Soul Miners, who i have heard very good things about.
We could meet up earlier, much earlier in some cases in a nearby Wetherspoons/O'Neils.

For those interested two casinos are running Poker tourneys.

Grosvenor G: £20+ £5 (i think) Re-entry. 5K starting stack and 25 min blinds. Normally 20-30 runners

Les Croups £15 + £4 Freezeout. 6K starting stack 25min blinds. Normally 50-70 runners.

Both casinos are away from the centre of Cardiff though.

I'll probably mooch around the G on Friday night as it's staggering distance to the Future Inn.

Or a convenient hostelry nearby.

There are a few decent places to eat/drink in this area anyway as I remember it (although it is a while since I have been there). The casino is not that great though, Les Croupier FTW if you want to play poker.

Q Darren to magically appear ITT and plug Les Croupiers Saturday night tournament for those of us already out of APAT ;-)

Just so happens that the Olympic Flame will be going through Cardiff City Centre around 7pm on the Friday night.

Drinking choices in the Red Dragon Centre are limited to the G or something called the Cardiff Bay Tavern...however, there is a pub called "The Wharf" not a huge distance away.

In fact, it's right by the Holiday Inn and on the canal so it might be nice on a...ahem...summer evening.

I think I'll start there...unless it's raining.

Hmmm.

I think I'm leaving work at 1pm and then I'll have to drive to Cardiff so that'll be around 4 hours (allowing for bladder breaks).

So, I'll probably be rocking up to the Future inn bar (purely for research you understand) about 5.30pm

Or earlier if I have a heavy foot or I decided to just sack off all of Friday instead of just the afternoon.  Grin

An earlier meet up followed by some live music sounds good to me unless the majority feel the need to practice a bit for Saturday Tongue
