APAT are excited to announce details of the inaugural National Online Cup, which will be played via
APAT Online, starting on Wednesday August 8th at 7.00pm, with a 1 hour late registration.
The National Online Cup will feature teams of four players, who will be drawn into groups initially, with the leading teams qualifying through to the knockout stage and eventually a final; which will utilise heads up and sit & go legs to determine the overall winning team.
Matches will be played on Wednesday and Sunday nights with a buy in of €10 + €1.
Entries close: Saturday, August 4th
Tournament draw: Sunday, August 5th
Group stages start: Wednesday, August 8th
Knockout stages start: Wednesday, August 29th
The key details of the National Online Cup format are as follows:-1) Teams will be made up of 4 players.
2) Their
will not be a requirement for team players to be from the same region.
3) APAT will start a
Player Market thread for players who have not yet found a team. Those players can be chosen by teams who already have two or three players on board.
4) Players who remain on the player market at the closing date for entries will be drawn into random teams.
5) The first stage of the National Online Cup will be played in group stages. The number of groups and teams in groups will be determined by the final number of teams entered. Groups will be formulated by a random draw. The draw for the group and knockout stages will be live streamed on Sunday evening August 5th.
6) Each group will feature four matches over two weeks, on consecutive Wednesday's and Sunday's - August 8, 12, 15 and 19. Each group will have its own MTT. So for example, if Group A has 10 teams, then those 40 players will play in an MTT on the four dates above.
7) The top two teams in each group will qualify for the knockout stages. The knockout stages will start on Wednesday August 29th, so as not to clash with the ECOAP. Knockout matches will be played on consecutive Wednesday and Sunday nights until the National Online Cup has been completed.
8 ) From the knockout phase forward, half of the teams in each round will win their way into the next round until we are left with two teams. The final match will feature heads up and sit & go rounds to determine the winning team. A third place playoff will also take place utilising the final format.
9) With the exception of the final and the third place playoff, points will be allocated to players based on the number of players in each match. For example, if there are 40 players in a match, then the first player out will receive 1 point and the player who wins the match will receive 40 points. Team positions will be determined by the total number of points won by their players. Should a player miss a match, he will earn 0 points for his team in that specific match.
10) The top five teams in each group match will score match points, which shall be allocated as follows: 5 to the winning team, down to 1 match point for team in 5th position.
11) Where teams finish level on points in the group phase their match points will be shared. Should teams finish level on points in the knockout phase, the team with the highest individual finishing player shall be deemed to win.
12) National Championship medals will be awarded to the top three teams in this event.
13) The four players on the winning team will each win a WCOAP Passport, giving them free entry to the World Amateur Poker Championship and two side events at the WCOAP, the last live event of season six.
