So my annual rant is about to begin, yes I am talking about the Turner prize. Contemporary art ? Don’t start me…..

This year’s intrepid shortlist.

Spartacus Chetwynd made her name by staging recreations that have a home-made aesthetic and often involves an element of audience participation. (That's right get others to do the work)

Luke Fowler creates cinematic collages that have often been linked to the British Free Cinema movement of the 1950s. (So he strings together old clips and gets paid for it)

Paul Noble
explores society through drawings of a fictional town called Nobson Newtown and his drawings depict a dysfunctional dystopian landscape. Oh and his nominated work is called “Public Toilet” (Really!!)

Elizabeth Price creates video installations that incorporate moving images, text and music. (So another one who strings together old clips and gets paid for it)

Now have I the will to character assassinate the Judges.

Taking a long weekend 5 days off. Relaxing and digging through dvd’s and suchlike because daytime TV is so bad it is embarrassing. I mean hundreds of fecking channels and not a watchable program among them. Resorting to watching Strike it Rich, my life is a social whirl…….

if you are that bored feel free to come onlin eand help me solve some of this.

Quote
An Idle RQ retransmission scheme is used over a communications system
with a propagation time of 1μs and a transmission rate of 100Mbps. If the
frame size is 1000B and the BER is 5×10-7, what is (a) the maximum utilisation
of this system in the absence of errors; and (b) the frame error rate? Huh? Huh? Huh?

Daytime TV looks a winner in comparison  Undecided

Oops, switched that mod back on so you should be able to embed now Ger.

Great video, love the song....you'll never beat the Irish....unless you're Croatian I guess....or maybe Italian....not even going to question the global football rights of the Spanish....sigh on the random draw front.

I know one thing, we'll be loud, colourful and good humoured however the ball rolls.

Can't wait.

Actually, Spartacus Chetwynd changed her name by deed poll, so really did make her name, literally. She says it annoys people, as does her art, and once her name no longer annoys people she will change it again. No chance of her art ever losing the ability to annoy unfortunately.

Last night I ventured into the domain of the lesser known Maghullittes (not to be confused with those ‘other’ people in Harry Potter) for a team challenge and had a good night. Finally got to meet the one and only Caroiline (Mouth146) and apart from being as mad as a bag of spanners she was exceptional company both off and on the table (She departed from the competition when her AA was cracked by the mighty A2). Carl ran like a man whose lottery tickets had every winning combination and not only won the individual prize but ably assisted by his team mates (Bill & Suzy) they took the team prize as well.

My night was full of shiite cards and I departed when a mistimed shove ran into Andy Kingan’s QQ. Played a very funny cash game later on, which Steve & Caroline were owning and had a very pleasant evening.

Good night, good people, priceless……

Tonight will be much of the same when I hit the aquarium…..

Would really love to, but I suspect I'm going to have my hands full in July.  I've got Hard Rock Calling tickets for London in mid July also and tbh, not even sure whether I'll be able to make that atm either.  However, all for a very good reason.

I noticed Duke Special on the Sunday roster in Westport.  You and jnr teaming up? Smiley
