London, May 16th, 2013

The Amateur Poker Association & Tour has today announced that it has acquired one of the UK’s leading pub poker chains; the Live Pub Poker League, in a deal designed to offer high quality poker experiences to amateur players of all levels.

APAT Managing Director, Des Duffy, explains “APAT is synonymous with providing high quality, value for money, poker experiences and we’re excited to extend that offer to recreational players in towns and cities across the UK through our Live Pub Poker League acquisition.  The LPPL team are already delivering a fantastic product and we can see tremendous benefits in pooling our resources and schedules for the enjoyment and development of our wider player community.”

Reigning IPO champion and 2013 Irish Open finalist Tom Brady; owner of the Live Pub Poker League, stated “This was an amazing opportunity to develop the growth and longevity of LPPL – and a true testament to all our management team, players and venues across the UK that we have been recognized as the pub poker league of choice by such a significant brand as APAT. The benefits to all LPPL members will be substantial and we look forward immensely to working with APAT and seeing our members really start to climb, with earnest, the poker ladder.”

APAT announced that Brady will join the board of the new business and continue to oversee the running of the LPPL brand with his existing team.

About the Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT)
APAT; who acquired the Poker.co.uk online poker business last year, launched the UK’s first national poker tour back in 2006.  With a reach that extends to every major casino chain in the country, the London based organisation has also held multi day national events in Austria, Estonia, Spain and at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.  A tie up with the ISPT will see the APAT Masters being played on the pitch of Wembley Stadium at the start of June 2013.  To cement its reputation as a proving ground for talented players, APAT can count WSOP, WPT and EPT title winners amongst players who have made national final tables over the years.

About the Live Pub Poker League (LPPL)
With a database of over 34,000 players, the Live Pub Poker League has become one of the UK’s premier pub poker league operators since launch in 2006.  With a weekly schedule of over 200 tournaments in pubs and clubs, LPPL provides a fun, free, poker night out, with many of its players winning trips to prestigious poker destinations such as Prague, Dublin, Paris and Las Vegas through well-structured local, regional and national qualifying leagues and tournaments.

Congrats with this and good luck!

I like that Apat are introducing more amateurs to the scene. I think the initial concept of Apat was to bring newbies out from behind the keyboard and into casinos to play live. I am sure the thoughts behind it were that as players improved they would move on and make room for newer players... problem is that we like it here too much and loads of us have stuck around Smiley

I noticed that there are not too many venues in the South West. How exactly do LPPL plan to "grow"?

Also where are the online leagues played? I cant see anything in the Apat poker lobby. Not much chance of me playing at 9am on a Sunday morning though lol.

Hiya Tom and welcome to Apat btw Smiley

Hi Suzanne - thanks for your comments.

We at LPPL are committed to introducing our members to APAT - and of course we hope to have enough of substance to warrant APAT members playing more live 'APAT Local' games - wherever you may be. We have already had enquiries to set games up - we WILL accomodate all members and be highly proactive in providing you scope to play.

If we have no local venue to you, please feel free to drop me a line advising where you are - I will be happy to liaise with you/your local venues and can offer them plenty of incentive to hold APAT Local games - and other venues in the vicinity to support them, with is how we have traditionally gained the success we have.

Our online game for League points is on the APAT Online platform - it can be located in the 'Special' section of games - we know 9am on a Sunday isnt an ideal time to be point hawking, but we are committed to supporting our live venues so try, as much as possible, to not 'clash' with Live Game and Area Final times.

However, we will be bringing a full package of online games and tournaments that we trust will apeal to both 'sets' of members - with the view to breaking the ice, establishing a little banter and social fun, as well as meeting new people via online play that we trust will soon you'll be meeting at various Live events.

If there are any questions about LPPL specific that i can help anyone with, please feel free to ask.

In the meantime, look forward to getting to know you all better and hopefully start to see some natural cross support between us all.

I will also be at the APAT Masters event officiating, so look forward to meeting any attendees there.
