Epsom is nearly here, the Oaks and the Derby look like they met produce some useful sorts this year.. Camelot is a obvious possible but the price isn't very tempting Smiley.. Could Bonfire win it? it looks like it was decent Dante this year, will an extra 2furlongs suit though being a son of Manduro?, [are you backing it Achim?] considering this was his debut run Bonfire could be a lot closer ability wise to Camelot than what the market suggests.. Bonfire to my eye looks like a top 10f performer but the extra 2furlongs maybe just stretching it so from a value angle i've had a wee sized win bet on Parish Hall, Bolger has PH in the Irish 2000 Guineas, basically following the same prep routine as he did with New Approach, 21+ is a good win punt on betfair imho and a place bet as well Smiley
Astrology is well worth a place bet, he moved well despite the bog at Chester so to my eye he will handle quicker ground.. As a 2year old he was entered in the Futurity Stakes and moved better than all the rest [Parish Hall included] but when McCabe asked him to pick up his tail waved around and he swerved left to the rail finishing up 3rd.. Astrology's last race as a 2year old, O'Brien entered him in the Autumn Stakes at Newmarket and again he showed similar traits swerving to the rail...I'd put that down to the big wide open space of Newmarket and the Curragh and greenness, none of that was shown at Chester on his seasonal re-appearance in the Dee Stakes, Epsom's tight turns and far less open track will suit him so i've had a small win bet and had a bit bigger place bet Smiley

so without the waffle...

Epsom Derby 2/6/2012
Astrology - win and place
Parish Hall - win and a place

Baden Baden Spring Meeting

Nice races, hope for a bit money today.

Win/Place-Bet

1. -----
2. Compact Storm 2./7 hd
3. Love is Red (Favourite, discontinued injury)
4. Fairhope unplaced 6./9*
5. Felician unplaced 5./15*
6. Palomita 1./12
7. Next Dancer 2./12 hd*
8. Worthadd 1./8
9. El Okawango unplaced 10./10
10.Anna Bellamy 2. 3/4*

Al in all ok, but sadly I'd bet 4 races* with a weight reduced Jockey who won yesterday his 50th race. Guess he  lost his weight allowance since today. Especially race 7.(73/10) and 10 (38/10) the horses needed a bit more jockeyship, bad luck. ( will show you both replays later if available)

BONFIRE seems to be a good horse but Im a bit doubtful about how to appraise the performances. If I try to compare BONFIRE performances with german horses I think it's not enough for Epson Derby. But the past shows us more than one time that 3y old horses are able to boost their performance during months in massiv way. Maybe BONFIRE prefer a distance like today and also good ground. If there is no other pre-derby race it's difficult to bet BONFIRE with trust.

Easy money and an impressive performance today.Commentator said that SMP has a very good opinion about WORTHADD. Nice 2012 debut but how good is this colt really?

Best german mile horse beat two of the runners end of april. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oD-jf8D4Fw

@noble

Don't forget, your Kentucky Derby horse Went The Day Well will run in the Preakness Stakes this weekend. Another exciting race with Bodemeister, Creative Cause and I'll Will Have Another.

that was his first run for SMP since moving from Vittorio Caruso, our handicapper has him about right at or 116 ish based on his 2nd in the Lockinge last year and the year before in his 3yo season a 3rd to Rio de la Plata.. A solid group2 group3 winner but not quite good enough for the best group1's over a mile...
Alianthus i'd have just slightly behind Worthadd, after he won at Dusseldorf last time out i think they had the badener meile as his next race in mind, perhaps they thought swerving Worthadd was best? Italy maybe his next port of call for the Premio Carlo Vittadini which Worthadd won last year... Looks like they have done a swap Achim Smiley he might be worth a punt in Italy if we can get a nice price..
Worthadd is entered up for 3 10f group1's and 1 8f group1 [the queen anne @ ascot] , i cant see SMP taking Frankel and co on so it would seem a upping trip is the plan... [wrong plan imo Smiley]

looks like this could be a good season Achim with so many good horses remaining in training...

After I saw and bet CALIFORNIA MEMORY in Audemars Piguet QEII Cup/Sha Tin 3 weeks ago, I'm sure that on sunday my bet will bring me a payout at  Singapore Airlines International Cup.  Wink
