Mark Varela  -   APAT Forum (VBlue)   -   888poker Alias (VBlue)

I am Mark Varela, aged 35 years old, from Kendal.

My background in the local poker scene comes over the last four years from running two successful pub poker venues at The George and Dragon and The Heron, both in Kendal.  For 12 months we ran both of these weekly small stakes games under The Nuts Poker League, national pub franchise.  I have also run small stakes tournaments in Bowness and Kendal, under private members" club rules, allowing for a larger prize pool on the day.

After seeking out larger buy-in tournaments in Cumbria, I also struck up a working partnership with a local private members" poker club, now known as Northern Poker Stars and have delivered a number of roles for them throughout the last 2-3 years, running their facebook site, promoting events and marketing through online forums, organising and hosting local events as Tournament Director, rulebook, web content, etc.

As a player, I was drawn into playing home games after watching Late Night Poker; Jessie May and the colourfully named players ("The Elegance", Jacarama, and such like) being the stars for me in that particular series.  I started off playing low stakes STTs on pokerrrom.com about 8 years ago.  I am currently grinding the low-stakes STTs as a multi-tabler, with low-stakes MTTs one or two afternoons per week, and am starting the transition into UNl (micro-stakes) cash too.

I now have clearly defined goals, religiously work on improving my game using video training, skype sessions, had discussion threads and forum chat, write my own blog, and a whole lot more.

I welcome all new players and those returning to join Team Carlisle for S5.  If you ever want to talk poker you can catch me here, on Facebook daily (Mark Varela), or on skype during the evenings - mark.luis.varela

Please use this thread to discuss the Online National League, Local live games, Local Home Games or anything else to do with the Carlisle Poker Club.

Good Luck for the Season.

Cheers
