UK Online Champion: JP Round

The second online Championship event of APAT’s fourth season featured another high quality field of APAT players. One hundred and twenty one players entered the APAT UK Online Poker Championship.

The $50 buy in gave them all a chance at winning the $2,500 first prize, Championship title, Gold Medal and an entry to a £1,000 buy in Grosvenor UK Poker Tour event. As with all APAT Online Championship events, players started with a 10,000 chip deep-stack and 15 minute blinds.

Within the first thirty minutes we had lost the APAT Season 3 Online Rankings winner, Brian Yates, and a steady list of players followed. With 25 players left, recent Welsh Online winner Steve ‘marmite3465’ Bailiff was still in the hunt on 42k, whilst the chiplead was being fought out between ‘KGB486’, ‘Sanky’ and ‘Mongoose61’ who were up around the 80-90k mark. A quick few exits meant that ‘gizagu’ burst the final table bubble and exited the tournament in tenth place.

This left the final table line up as follows:

slaterboy (289k)
KGB486 (202k)
Mongooose61 (185k)
Aceonfifth (121k)
marmite3465 (114k)
jan c (113k)
totalpants (64k)
Gerry862 (55k)
TheSnapper6 (44k)

The action on the final table was hectic with ‘Gerry862’ out after the first hand in 9th place and closely followed by ‘TheSnapper6’ a few hands later for an 8th place finish.

236 players entered the first tournament of the Amateur Poker Association & Tour’s third season, the United Kingdom Online Championship, which was held at Blue Square Poker.

Competitors, including a number of current and past APAT National Champions, enjoyed 10,000 starting chips and a generous structure. However, with a national title and added GUKPT main event seat up for grabs, play was competitive throughout and the first casualty; ‘HookorbyCrook1′, exited to ‘belovedltd’ within the first 15 minutes.

There were spectacular hands aplenty and ‘Morlspin’ received maximum reward early when he Flopped Quad Jacks. Opponent ‘1TR1′ pushed in on spiking a King on the River, only to learn the bad news.

A final table was reached after four and a half hours of play and the final ten players lined up as follows:-

Seat 1 – The Geeny87 – 478k
Seat 2 – clubrepscottyp – 263k
Seat 3 – Honeybadg – 465k
Seat 4 – Misha001 – 102k
Seat 5 – vandey90 – 203k
Seat 6 – badcawl1 – 156k
Seat 7 – The Biggins73 – 105k
Seat 8 – Panchowin – 159k
