Thoroughly deserved. If poker in 2013 is half as good as 2012 was for you, then you"ve got loads to look forward to.

Lucy looked well chuffed to pick up the award on your behalf.

Great stuff.

in a way i was actually pleased that Lucy got to collect it. Her railing support was a big part of it all

Had a really fun £1/£1 session at The Vic on Tuesday night.
Started badly when I 3bet the button £4 raise to £20, he peeled and we both checked the QJ10cc flop
I bet £26 on the not a club 6 called his £68 total and rolled my cards over. He sighed then rolled his fast on the club river. His 97cc having got there.
Recovered those losses and more over the following hours and ended a £180 winner.

Why was I in London on a Tuesday night? Well, obviously to see Dad, but for the wrong reasons.

He has been diagnosed as having a tumour in his liver which seems pretty certain to be a secondary growth. He"s never drunk in his life and liver cancer is rare even amongst drinkers.
The resident GP spent some time with us and has explained that the most likely diagnosis is bowel cancer, with stomach cancer as another possibility. Treatment options are limited to chemo but given the fact that it has already spread to his liver it may already be well established.

I posted this on his "diary" over on blonde earlier. It"s a comfort to me...

When Dad first mentioned his thoughts on the move to the RHC one of the major benefits he saw was the fact that, were it to become necessary for him to move into some form of nursing or care home he would simply mover into the Infirmary.
None of us anticipated it would happen so quickly.

But he"s there now and I couldn"t ask for him to be anywhere else. The facilities and the care he"ll receive are excellent.

Here he is, in his new home

the room from his bed

The staff moved all his belongings for him and put his pictures on the wall.

he has a window looking out over the tennis courts and the park

Apparently the view will be of the toilet area for the Chelsea Flower Show soon, but I"m sure he can look over that and to the trees beyond for those few weeks.

Everyone I met down there over the last couple of days filled me with belief that whatever is coming will be handled well.
