So APAT dies when we"ve exhausted all the different sponsors? Doesn"t sound like a brilliant long term plan, plus people (us) might get fed up of all the moving around. I hope I"m totally wrong with this fear.

A bit of an extreme comment, but I know where you are coming from.
I"m sure Des and Tighty know exactly what they are doing. APAT is quite experienced when it comes to poker tours and deals. ;)

That goes without saying. I completely agree. In fact I did originally write something similar but felt it watered down the comment. Taking things to the extremes is often where you find out the truth!!

Agreed, Des has already, as we"ve seen, looked outside the box for revenue streams....it was only today I realised there were ads on the site when I accessed it via my mobile.
My browser blocks those automagically so I hadn"t event known they were there
Plus..don"t forget there was talk of an APAT poker client...I"m sure that would be the best option long term.

Just checking - tonight"s satellite is a £20 buy-in to try and win a seat in a £75 comp?
Doesn"t sound too inviting really. The £10 and £5 rebuy make sense, but not really a £22+2.

AMRN has made the same observation on another thread. Perhaps if the £20 is dropped to £15 (in future) the others are OK as they are?
At the moment though I"m worried we"re gonna have a different sponsor for every live event, requiring even more poker accounts because as far as I can see the only event WH is definitely sponsoring is the first one?

That would appear to be a fair assumption to make. I"ve reduced my play down to just a few sites, but needs must (Although the schedule has not been favourable to me getting to many, if any of the live events). Sites like new players and appear happy to fund if they get sign ups. I guess it"s just the way of the world.

This is a fantastically interesting area and one I could converse about all evening...if I wasn"t on the metal highway back to Wales and more particularly on my phone.
It"s a difficult market for sponsorship spend ATM, as value can normally be had with less risk via pay per click etc. That won"t always be the case. The market needs to see some consolidation to allow the big operators to become even bigger and the misc brands to die. A lot of that will happen when the US market opens up and operator marketing activity will widen again.
So in this type of market it"s better that we all recognise the challenges and opportunities and adjust our strategies accordingly. That includes you, the player.
In this market it makes a great deal of sense to create alliances with several operators and enable them all to sample the strengths of APAT.
Rather than think we will "exhaust" the operator pool, what we are doing is encouraging multiple operators to "own" specific APAT properties; a model that operates across the sporting world, look at Darts, Snooker and Football for example. So we make it more cost efficient for each operator and it becomes likely we will see the William Hill English Amateur Championship in 2013 and 2014 also. That allows the operators to spread their investment beyond a 12 month period, which is a much more workable solution for all parties.
Then when the big shakeup has taken place in the market, we can revisit our strategy and adjust it accordingly. It requires a bit of a mindset change, but for the players it will become a little like shopping at multiple online sites - which most of us already do. Some we will like more often than others and revisit more often, but this type of model will encourage you to try different products more regularly and will allow the operators to showcase their software and promotional improvements since your last visit, hoping that you"ll spend more of your time and money with them as a result.
Phew, I"m going for a lie down...hope that makes sense and as always, we appreciate and need the support of our members to be able to offer you the service that we currently do.
