May seem an unlikely question to be answered to any degree of help as too many caveats, however ...

what would people who have been think the total cost would be for such a trip.

Base it on average hotel and sensible drinks!! ( ok how many rounds to be bought!)

Flights are in the £100-150 region (probably a max) depending on where you are coming from. Try SkyScanner but don"t forget the "extras" that might not be listed.

Hotel: can be had for £60 - 70 a night (standard)...cheaper options exist and I can investigate if you want. Obviously, quality increases by cost.

It"s not outside the realm of possibility to fly in on Saturday morning and return Sunday night (again, location dependant) but that assumes you don"t FT (or it finishes really early).

Essentially, for Londoner/Southerner/Welshian...it"s probably about the same as travelling to Scotland.

its actually cheaper from stansted to cork   currently £38 return sat morning  and back on early or evening flight on the monday may possibly be even cheaper  over the next weekend as there prices are at there lowest  on the 1st week of preceding month

kohan:
have just checked flights for any of our scottish friends who may be considering travelling  and  flight from glasgow to dublin leaving at 5 -55 on friday  returning on the monday  £77 and if paid by visa electron only £65 coach on saturday morning £28 return is the cheapest way i could find hope it helps some of you

An APAT weekend - Priceless*

Birmingham to Cork is £86 though leaving on Friday 6th at 1pm and returning Monday 9th at 11am. For some reason Bristol is really expensive

FYI Rodders, just in case you don"t go with the Duke"s frankly award winning plan (and why wouldn"t you?) I am on the 1pm Birmingham flight, although I am getting the later return flight on the Monday.
