Anyone driving to Coventry from Farnham area?

(1/1)

Evening all,

Due to an op on my leg I am unable to drive for the next couple of months. I was wondering if there was anyone near to Farnham in Surrey who was planning to drive to Coventry?  If so, can you give me a shout please as I"ll more than happily pay half your fuel bill.  I was planning on getting the train but it"s a staggering £110 return.
Cheers,

Steve

Hi Steve

You could get a train much cheaper than that if you choose the right times. You can get the 10.38, arriving 1.22, for £26. Or even cheaper, £16.50, if you want to catch the 7.38, arriving 10.22.

You could make it cheaper again by buying a ticket Farnham-Banbury for £14 [9.38 & 10.38] or £10 [7.38 & 8.38] and a separate one Banbury-Coventry for £10.90. The 12.54 Ban-Cov is £7.50 - arrives 1.22.

Your best plan is prob the 10.38, arriving Banbury 12.52. The same train leaves Banbury 12.54, arrives Cov 1.22, but buy two tickets, for £14 + £7.50, unless you want to get up in time for the 7.38.

Return is similar, but I can"t be stuffed to work it out.

I"m planning to go by train from Portsmouth. Could meet up along the way if you like. Sharing a taxi would be a good idea, cos the venue is a very long way from the station and the last time I went there the taxi cost nearly as much as the train.
