PHIL_TC:
OK quick Wembley report which went surprisingly well.
Was really excited to play this event, more than any APAT event in a long time.
I"d already met a midget outside the ground before the start so had a really good feeling about the whole enchilada (heres me attempting the "I"m taking a photo of the statue honest and not the small fella in front of it" style)
Day 1 was steady away playing close to an A game for me, mainly due to the price of Guinness stopping me getting into a usual drunken mess, £6 a pint (after a quid tip to the valet) meant a steady away approach.
Also I got moved 4 times due to be continually on tables to be broken up, bit of pain when trying to get to know playing styles from each move but also meant meeting a lot of regular faces and new ones along the way. Slowly chipped up nicely all day really, and after knocking out a 8K shorty (JJ > AJ) near the end, ended up with 37.5k and 16th of the remaining 25ish coming into Day 2.
Had a great stay at Curlys on the evening (well early hours of Sunday), couple of Guinesss supped over amongst other things Curlys exit which was very unlucky. Without sounding like a broken record, your time will come fella x
Sunday morning was a Curly special scrambled eggs on toast and a laugh and joke in his back garden in glorious sunshine, a great start to the day. Thank you again mate x Train ride in with the lovely Susie P and then met up with the guys ready for day 2.
Apparently my inside voice wasnt working too well and Joe Car Hill had to have a little word when I started rattling on about safe crackers when this guy wandered by...
Lovely fella though.
Day 2 started off slow, then when we got down to 2 tables I decided to kick things up a gear. First in BB shoving over a SB raise with my 56 suited. Got a call with A2 but luckboxed a five on the river to double up to 50K.
Couple of hands later the same guy to my right raises up and after seeing AK suited I shove again. He"s got KK this time but I hit a flush by the turn and I"m upto the heady heights of 107Kish.
At this point James Barber tells me off for getting a little over exuberant. The guy to my right for some reason decides he doesnt want to talk/listen to me anymore and whilst Im talking to him pulls his Iphone out and puts on his earphones. How to make friends and influence people by Phil will be in all rubbish book shops soon.
This is where I should of gone to the bar. But no I have AQ in the BB and theres a raise on the button. I call and see a nice flop of A Q x with 2 clubs. I bet out. He raises alot. He"s playing around 60K and we get it all in. He"s got K10 of clubs and I"m feeling a little sick. J of hearts on the turn and I"m feeling less exuberant of back to 40k and what would have been a chip lead stack and a cruise to the final table.
We get into the cash and with 10 left the same situation arises with the same button raise guy. I"ve got 56 suited and shove in my short 10ishbb stack hoping he"ll fold.. unfortunately he doesn"t and he"s surprised to find out his 92 off is ahead haha. A nine on the flop and we"re done.
Railed JB for a while whilst chatting to the lovely Ken McBride and wife before remembering I had a 4 hour train ride and decided after giving JB a lucky shoulder rub I"d best head home.
I can"t tell you how amazing the whole Wembley experience was, the setup was phenomenal and I"m so pleased I had the chance to experience it. Whether it will be repeated is of course open to debate, but so pleased to have been part of it. Big thanks to APAT as always, great to meet Mark the Shark and also rail Debs, John Murry and Matt and Leigh in the main event. Good luck to Matt and Leigh who are still in. What a story that could be over the next day or 2 x
Erimus:
Change of venue would be good, always preferred Rileys for the home game, like the cosy atmosphere rather than the sterile atmosphere of the casino, just my twopenneth.
Has Rileys reopened ?, or poss back to the roots at The Eagle.
League adds a bit more spice and would keep interest up, never been about the cash on a Thursday if it was I would walk the 2 yards to the rebuy tournament.
Its lucky its never about the cash, cant win a thing v you lot, lol.
nb just won a pot online with qq v 92 who had 3 bet me with it must be he new nuts

Keeping the forum running recently is a constant running battle. Both the webserver, and mailserver get constantly hammered by hackers, spammers. The odd thread that you might see on the forum for "Raybans" etc is just the tip of the iceburg.
Don"t get me wrong as a geek there"s a tiny part of me that is impressed (see always a brightside), especially by the hackers who infiltrate, amend code where they can using ever increasing complex scripts. But for the end result to just be a hidden link off for Viagra or the like?.. really? surely with all their talents they could be put to a much more constructive and productive use. Probably some teenager in his bedroom somewhere doing it just because they can.
Sigh.

Phil,
I have no idea which version of WP we are running but is there anything to be gained (security-wise) but upgrading / updating to the latest version.
Oh..and SMF too?

Definitely for WP* Paulie, in fact I"d love to get off WP completely, upgrade is scheduled in already (hate to say the word soon).
SMF* we"re at the latest version we can upgrade to for version 1. Version 2 is the way to go, but at the moment there isnt a simple "click next" style path to get there.
Acronym Guide for anyone whos reading this and is wondering
*WP = Wordpress. This is the software used for the "main" APAT site that you see when you access APAT.com. Its used by 60 million worldwide. With it being so widely used its unfortunately a platform which is loved by the hacker community.
*SMF = Simple Machines Forum. This is the software thats used for the APAT forum that you"re viewing at the moment. Touch wood has yet to be hacked, but as with all forum software its difficult to stop the spammers of the world wanting to login and post threads flogging various stuff. Security is set as high as we can to only allow "real" APAT people to register and post. The mods on here (Paulie, Ger, Ian, JB, Jon MW, Mark the Shark, ThinkerJE, Rich and Mair) do a fantastic and constant job of removing the rest, and wield their banning sticks to the ones that slip through the net.
