Kindle Fire HD or Nexus 10, which one is value for money?

I know to some extent this has already been on the previous pages but I am going to buy one or other of the 2 devices soon; do i need to know anything else to decide between the 2?

My brother has a Kindle Fire - he said it"s basically for reading books plus some extra stuff like surfing the net - so that"s probably best if that"s what you"re after
Everybody seems to rate the Nexus 10 as what you need - unless you"re already trapped in to the iTunes etc. ecosystem.
