Kindle Fire HD or Nexus 10, which one is value for money?

SirPercival:
My wife is not into techy stuff in any way but reads loads so I bought her a kindle (not the fire) and now it is permanantly attached to her hand!

If it"s for reading books you can"t beat the basic kindle. If you want to do other stuff then I guess there are much better options.

AMRN:
If the primary requirement is an e-reader, I would go for the basic standard Kindle for £60. I just bought one for my son, and the ink on a sepia page is just perfect for reading without eye strain or glare related headaches.  I"ve tried reading on a more conventional tablet, and it"s just like trying to read on a laptop screen - the glare gets to you eventually.... there"s no way I could sit and read for four hours on an iPad, but on a Kindle it"s just like looking at a book.

This....mine is practically permanently affixed to my hand.

I"m looking for something that can replace my laptop and kindle on holiday though and the Nexus 10 looks like just the job.

It would mainly be as an e-reader but thought for the extra it would be worth it. She has found the world of the internet and has started to use my lappy which is not a good thing   ;)

Plus was looking at something like Paulie which could be useful on holiday

My boss"s sister and her kids are in the US and have been using the kindle fire for quite some time - he says they rave about how good it is. Obviously I don"t know exactly what they"re using it for but I can"t see anybody really doing much other than internet browsing and reading so I figure it"s probably a pretty good recommendation.
