2 leagues of 8 players each.
Everyone plays 2 games vs each other. 1 point for a win. 0 for a loss.
Top 4 from each league progress to QFs.

224 before the QF"s - all day jobbie then  ;D

Ha, there"s no way it"s that many :)

Each game is one set, so it"s more like 48 isn"t it?...

edit: Have just borrowed a pen and paper and have done the math... I think it"s 88?... If we say just 1 game that"s 44....

ooops, you"re right. No idea how I ended up with 44...

So... if we have 2 leagues of 8 players each, and everyone in each league plays just 1 set against each other player in their league, then I make it:

7+6+5+4+3+2+1 games = 28 games x 2 leagues = 56 sets x 4 mins a set = 224 minutes = eeeek. Divide that by 2 tables = 112 minutes.

Then all the other shizzle as before:
4 x QF (12 games = 48 mins / 2 tables = 24 mins)
2 x SF (6 games = 24 min / 2 tables = 12 mins)
1 x F (5 games = 20 min / 1 table = 20 min)

24+12+20 = 56 mins.

Total time: 112 + 56 = 168 minutes. 2hrs 48mins.

That"s a saving of 8 minutes vs. having 4 leagues, and everyone playing best of 3 matches through the whole tourney... Tough call..

The advantage of having just 2 leagues, is that it makes it a lot easier to organise with the inevitable no shows...

AJDUK:
All assuming just 1 table? So the key is finding somewhere with more than 1.
Vauxhall sports centre is a pretty big place......

Still prefer to play 3 games against each player so 4 leagues of 4 is my preference.

It"s assuming 2 tables. If we can only find one then a serious rethink is required!

I"ve shot these guys (http://www.tabletennis365.com/luton) an email. Reckon they"ll know a good place.
Maybe they"ll even chuck in a scorer/ref for free :)
