15% of the prize pool (including rebuys) seems a steep amount of rake.
Most comps add 10% to the buyin, where this is 17.5% roughly.
Is there a reason for this particular charge?

Agree. And those comps that add 10% juice are mostly dealer dealt - this is 17.6% juice to self deal. It is very high when compared to the marketplace...
