hi_am_chris:
Was actually going to comment on this earlier but I guess I"m braver now someone else has commented on it. Think with that stack size I just prefer an open fold.you literally hate every flop when called and have no idea where you are (except for that flop). Wen 3 bet your not going to have any fold equity. If your raising to fold to a 3 bet then you could raise any two. It just plays so poorly post flop and when u get it in pre your never in amazing shape

Thanks for the comments, yeah i know i should be folding in that spot but had been card dead for the last hour at that point and guess i got over excited at seeing a pair!  ;D

Just out of interest, if we are sitting on 20k do we open then or do you still see it as a standard fold?

Sat with 20k (80bb), if you are gonna open utg, you have to be prepared to call off the short stacks (~20bb) who may shove. In this position, it"s still an open fold for me.   If the whole table were stacked around 80k, and the implied odds were better, and there was less likely to be a shove behind me, I would play it although cautiously.

pokerpops:
hand was played pretty fine, opening even from 20BB stack can"t be bad, I know we hate a lot of flops but we get a bunch of folds and respect for opening utg and win a lot of pots with a c-bet even when we miss.

villain plays it horribly btw
