WCOAP 2014 Discussion Thread
fandango:
Been looking forward to this since the end of the last WCOAP.
Awesome schedual which I wanted to play every day, was thinking of playing the stud on Tuesday, then the mixed game Wendsday etc etc..
But after trotting up all round costs I"m gonna have to miss first couple of days, doing this I save £300 in hotel, buyins and car parking costs even before Emma"s bar bill and food.
Looks a smashing venue but a little gutted about not being at DTD :(
Hope next season we can go back to our beloved holy grail of venues.

Players will be able to reserve or purchase seats from 9pm on Monday January 13th via www.apat.com.

I may need to move some money around...could someone please clarify what this means?
Are we talking "click-fest"? I"m assuming that we will not be using the online poker software?

Hi Paulie - we"re still dotting a few i"s on this but it"s likely there will be seat reservation and online buy in from day one. I"d hold off moving money anywhere until those details are confirmed on 13th though.

Interest is building and I"m getting PM"d a few questions which I"m struggling to answer at this late date.
With buy-in & reservations due to go live on Monday, perhaps I"m overthinking but with some of the capped seat numbers I can see rush buying of side event seats.
Are we talking a reservation fee that will cover the WCOAP festival and players then put their names down for multiple events?
I can see the possibility of "over-reserving" if that were to be the case...players could pay a single fee and then "reserve" a seat in a lot of events (on the off chance) without penalty, thus "freezing out" seats that might otherwise be available to players with the full buy-in right now.
Will reservations be on a "first-come, first served" basis AFTER those who buy-in direct?
Will reservations open AFTER the full buy-in option is available...if so what kind of time lag do you envisage....a week or two would seem about right?
Am I worrying about nothing?...I sure hope so!

I don"t know why everything has to be so secretive right up to the last minute, doesn"t give us much chance to organise funds etc

I hope so. I don"t like the reservation option, allowing people to block places and then drop out with negligible penalty, when there are people who will pay the full amount who can"t get a place. I can"t see how that benefits APAT or the players.

To be fair there"s still a couple of days left.
