APAT Newcastle 'Lite' Update

<< < (10/14) > >>

MintTrav:
Well done Johnny Nixon - another super result.

Your dealers look very smart, Des, though I think the ones in Tallin and Prague still have the edge.

Mikeyboy9361:
Thanks for the updates Des, shame there are no regulars to shout for, but hopefully APAT are making new friends :)

Afternoon all, we"ve kicked off in event #3 with 14 players in so far.  Whoever suggested a midday start for this event doesn"t fully appreciate the glory that is a Saturday night in Newcastle!  There are people still going home at midday on a Sunday, never mind getting up and coming out.

On a plus the lovely Phil Tompkinson and his much better half Lillian are in the house, looking a bit battered after having had the sort of Saturday night I mention above.  Legend has it they arrived back at their hotel at 6am this morning and ordered breakfast.

We are on a 2 hour late registration so are assuming the numbers will climb, but if not - I"ll be on the town myself tonight!   :D

Phil didn"t know about the two hour late registration and his face was priceless as the penny dropped!

Des:
The top five in event #2, the £25 NLHE, were as follows:-

1 - Ashuthosh Naik - £420
2 - Adam Pynn - £245
3 - Ian Keltie - £145
4 - DAvid Symes - £95
5 - Gary Cooper - £45

To answer Mike"s question, this really reminds me of the series of regional events that APAT ran in season two.  If you recall, APAT events used to run in 19 casinos across the UK where some like Manchester had great numbers and others like Thanet, were starting with 9 or 10 players.

That"s what we have here - an entirely local affair where APAT benefit from being featured in the cardroom schedule for several weeks in the lead up.  Ultimately players will take part if it suits them to do so, but we"ve certainly made lots of friends on this trip.  It"s also worth noting that Aspers appears to be out of favour currently with a couple of the local communities like the Newcastle poker forum, where there are a lot of APAT members.  I hope that gets straightened out as this is a great cardroom and the management as I"ve found them seem to be very sound.
