Looking forward to visting Belgium and being reunited with you guys again!!

IrishTom:
Look forward to seeing you all there - Tom (Belgian Tom!) insists I go over on Thursday to "settle in" - so that I"m planning on doing and returning on Monday (sometime yet tbc!) - memories of both my (extended) times in Belgium come flooding back:

Mar 97 - Aug 98:  SHAPE near Mons - someone once said this stood for Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe - when it really stood for Superb Holidays At Public Expense...

Aug 10 - Aug 12:  NATO HQ, Brussels - the gateway to Europe...

I was going to point you in the direction of the finer points of Charleroi (also "cheap" regional airport) but came across this riveting video titled "a walk through Charleroi"s shabby red light district" - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0wWCpwNrOo - stay tuned or you"ll miss it!

But what I miss most about Belgium... http://www.trappist.be/en/pages/trappist-beers - I"ve tried 6 of them and aim to try the new editions... work begins now to make it happen...

DodgyEnd (Tom APAT.be):
Lol, which ones have you tried?

Achel (B)
Chimay (B)
La Trappe (NL)
Orval (B)
Rochefort (B)
Westmalle (B)

Westmalle is def my favourite.

I thought there were only 7 in total - and never got around to making this trip http://www.trappist.be/en/pages/trappist-beers-westvleteren.html - which is why I still haven"t confirmed my mode of transport for coming over - if I drive I may be able to "call in" and pick up a crate of it - plus I could possibly pick up a crate of my fav German lager http://www.flens.co.uk/our_products.html... you are giving me some time off over the weekend aren"t you!

But it looks like they"ve created/added a few more Trappist onces since I left:

Mont des Cats (F)
Engelszell (AT)
Spencer (USA)

Austria and USA I can understand, but can"t believe you allowed the French to get in on it!
