So only teams that already applied to play the Team Champs can play in this online satellite. What about players who never got selected for a team but would possibly be interested in forming a team to play in this satellite...?

Unfortunately yes Bill that is correct.  The UK Team Championship is NOT for a group of guys (or gals) who just want to put a team together for the sake of getting into this event - it is for those considered to be a recognised and acceptable "forum" or "league" or "players" that we consider appropriate for the UK Team Championship - and this Online Qualifier is for those who applied to get into the live event, whom we considered appropriate - meaning whom we considered "could" have had a team place -  to give them a final opportunity because they missed out (and we subsequently got agreement for a few extra tables at the venue).

--- End quote ---

The difficulty here Tom is that I am assuming that those teams that did not get in have considered that you felt that they weren"t appropriate (albeit there was no actual reply to tell them one way or another).  Perhaps allowing the likes of Bill to put together a team would result in greater numbers for this.

After all, a number of the teams that are playing the live event are doing so through the original online qualification route, which was basically an opportunity to put a team together however you liked.

Good luck to those that play.

I would hope that those teams that did not get in realised we had a very difficult decision due to the event being so over-subscribed  and for the vast majority it was NOT a case of not being appropriate - it was an extremely difficult decision and even more of a disappointment to have to let down so many teams.

For those whom we considered in this category (not appropriate), I think they were aware before the final decision was made.  We clearly stated that this event is not for those who want to put a team together simply to gain entry to the event - in no way would we want to disappoint even more than we did.  Therefore I don"t believe it is now appropriate to allow anyone and everyone to play the online qualifier at the expense of those we had to disappoint - this online qualifier is not about greater numbers - it is about trying to give those we had to disappoint a final opportunity to get into the event.

Looking ahead, if we get the same number of (appropriate) team applications for next year, then I would be hopeful of not having to disappoint any of them - unless of course we dispense with the "appropriate" tag, which is something I will discuss/confirm with Des and Matt when the time comes.

Chipaccrual:
You"ll have to play it at Wembley if the applications keeping increasing Tom.

A couple of questions if I may :-

Is there a minimum number of players required in a team to try and win a team entry into the live event ?

If you already have a Coral account, it seems a bit of a disadvantage with the bonus points for having an APAT affiliated account.  Is this likely to be a significant factor in the overall winners ?

Cheers

Hi Leigh, no minimum, a maximum of 8. Hope you decide to enter! As would love to see you there and you can help me with the scoring when you"re knocked out (joke  :P).

There"s no real way of telling. However, where players have original Coral accounts and have tried to move them to APAT/Coral yet failed (due to Coral saying "no"), we will include these in the +2 points. Accounts that won"t be eligible for +2 points are Coral or APAT/Coral accounts that have moved to another Coral skin (e.g. PokerEncore, Blackbelt, Blueblood). This is to encourage players, where possible, to play APAT games on the APAT skin. Our sponsorship, and therefore the future of the tour, is massively reliant on the numbers we see online. To this end, we"ll shortly be including added value games where only Coral and APAT/Coral accounts are eligible for the added-value prizes (though all accounts regardless of affiliation will be eligible for the non-value-added part of the prizepool). That"s for another day/thread though.

I"ve briefly discussed this final point between Matt and Des and it is something we will investigate further.  I"m away from now until early next week (APAT Belgium) so please address any questions etc with regards to the UK Team Champs Online Qualifier to Matt.

Cheers/Tom
