Points system

Phew!! I am glad you all agree, I thought I was being controversial there for a minute. I should have known Des would be on the ball!
And the field joke me chuckle.

After reading through the comments I have to say im 50/50 over the idea of reducing points or changing the formats too much. However, a formula that even"s the scoring out would be a good idea, cos to be honest, it feels like the hard work i put in to win the Northern Regionals has been undermined by the numbers we had.
I had numerous people coming up to me in Blackpool and saying well done on winning the regionals (even people i didnt know) but it was usually followed up with..."they were only sit and goes tho" or "you made the final table by sitting out" which was funny at 1st, but then got me thinking was it all worth the effort?
Leg 1 had 24 and took 6hrs to play
Leg 2 had 18 and took 5hrs to play
Leg 3 had 16 and took 5hrs to play
Leg 4 had 15 and took 4hrs30 to play
Leg 5 had 11 and took 5hrs to play
The amount of players we had at the regionals in Newcastle were low, undoubtedly, but if your putting a £20 freezeout up against a Newcastle Vs Sunderland derby, The Grand National and FA Cup semi finals, then your gonna get less runners anyway up here, with the majority of poker players being sports fans.
As Swinebag says, its all well and good changing the rules and making it fairer to everyone re numbers over points, but dont do it so that the smaller fields wont even have a chance.
APAT:
Absolutely right, the trick is to find the middle ground and not unduly penalise those who attend the busiest or least busy venues. You are a worthy champ Graeme, and smaller fields ensured you were always likely to be playing with strong players like GiMac, so well done for consistently getting the job done.
