Not for regular side events (which I think was what Adam was after)...maybe for the WCOAP though.

Now you"ve got me thinking - and trust me that"s never good for APAT cos I come up with some wacky ideas...so here goes.

Obviously, this is dependent on the number of main events for the next season (I can"t remember what the number is - 9 I think...), but over the last few years there"s always been people commenting on the side events, namely the lack of variation. It"s generally Omaha...or Omaha.

My suggestion is simple. Let"s have a "Live Side Event Mixed Game Championship", played out over the various weekend events (solely events that run on Saturdays and Sundays - not the Team Champs etc) that would culminate at the last event before the Worlds. Winner could win a Worlds ME seat and 2nd-3rd win a Worlds Side Event seat, or something like that. Depends on Des" budget after all.

The Mixed Game Championship wouldn"t be your bog standard mixed game, mainly because the main issue we only have Omaha at side events is that most casino dealers are NOT trained to deal anything other than Hold"Em/Omaha. Even Dealers Choice dealers are rare. So my Mixed Game Championship events, assuming there are 7 events like Season 8, are as follows:

PLO8/PLO
Ante Only
Win The Button
Deuces Wild
Irish/Crazy Pineapple
Stud/Razz
2-7 Triple Draw/Badugi (or if a casino can"t find dealers for this, use one from the games with 2 options)

It shouldn"t be hard to find dealers - after all WTB, Ante Only and DW are all hold"em games with a tinkering of the rules but they play out the same as hold"em. PLO/PLO8 & Stud/Razz explain themselves, Irish or Pineapple would be chosen dependent on which one is the most successful next week, and 2-7/Badugi is for the Draw players (although this might be tougher to find dealers for).

So...Tom, Matt, Des...thoughts?

Wasn"t there supposed to be a mixed game championship last season consisting of the Sunday games. As you say, it was as mixed as whether there was an 8 on the end of it, and I"m not sure if anyone knew who won.
