#8 Mixed Game
Level 3 commences (75/150) and at the end of the late registration period we maxed out at 75 runners which was a nice bonus since we increased the cap from the initial level of 50.

It"s great to have all the variations of side events, but it"s interesting to see that the biggest number of runners so far is for a NLHE event on a Tuesday afternoon.

Indeed.
I"m sure there are a number of factors at play here.
I know that we missed quite a few players to the Vic on Saturday as they had a 10k guarantee event on and they absolutely smashed it with a prizepool (I understand) of c.80k.
Of course, these variations aren"t seen very often anywhere on a regular basis, certainly not with the deep structures that APAT offers, and so arguably, the deep player pool isn"t there...at least as much as we might hope.
Another thing is, and I know this is a concern to the PTB, APAT doesn"t really have a reliable medium to promote this to the unknowing masses.
The forum caters to it"s existing player / user base. Facebook isn"t really the medium (forget Twitter) and it requires the user to know about APAT already and casinos don"t always promote in house although Aspers did run satellites for Main Event.
It"s a delicate operation and I"m not privy to the behind the scenes goings on...you would probably have more insight than me there Leigh.
It would be nice to find another robust medium to provide these updates in a structured linear fashion above, beyond and in addition to the forum with the same level of detail as I know we like but I haven"t found it yet.

Advertising wise, this is where we miss Poker Player, Inside Poker etc - all those magazines they used to give away in the cardrooms etc, they were perfect for advertising to Joe Bloggs who came into the casino for the odd game of poker (which is what I would expect APATs target audience to be).
Sadly, they appear to have all fallen by the wayside.

Very true. My first awareness of APAT was through one of the poker mags, back in 2007.

I can"t help but feel that at the very least having plenty of quality flyers printed up and available in the host casinos for S9 well in advance (and I mean a couple of months) with full details of the upcoming event would be of some benefit.
We can"t always rely on the casinos to promote these things so just having a stack of flyers the staff could hand out and the players could stick in their pocket might be a good idea.
Perhaps we could have the single event details on one side and the full schedule on the reverse.
Whether this makes financial sense for APAT is not really within my scope of knowledge though.

#7 NLHE Championships
Things have slowed down a bit as we approach the end of Level 12 and the players go on 40 minute dinner break.
Level 13 when we come back - 1k / 2k / 300
29 left from 158 - Average: 54,500
#8 Mix Game
A break for these guys too in a couple of minutes as we end Level 4
58 players from 76 (they sneaked a last minute entry in just under the wire).
