So, I have been stood with Table 13 for the last half an hour or so watching the action. Nothing particularly exciting really, they have adopted a very sensible approach to the beginning of this two day event.
It looked, for a moment, like there was going to be an interesting showdown between Simon Brooke and Stuart Ward. A raise pre-flop and under the gun from Stu was met by a re-raise from Simon.
Stu called and the flop came down 5h Ac 3d
Stu check called Simon"s 575 bet.
The turn came 5c and, again, Stu check called Simon"s bet of 950.
The river, 6h, saw a final check call by Stu for 1250...and the anticlimactic showdown - Ad Ks v A s Kc for a split pot.
Dale Macchiarelli managed to find a call on the river against Simon with a 6 high flush, Simon mucked.
Four players in a pot, checked all the way to showdown. The board has run out 2h 6d 2s Qd 4c Dale announces "Jack high, no one bet, I think it might be good" at which point two of the players mucked their hands. But, to Dale"s disappointment, Laura Rhoden chimed up with "I"ve got a 4...". It was suggested that she should have bet...
Then, Tony Trippier raises pre flop to 800 and gets the appropriate amount of respect...and 5 callers.
6 way to the flop 6c 8s 3d
Mark Lassman bets out 2700 and gets folds from everyone except Laura.
They both check the 8h turn and Kd river and Laura shows Qd Qh and Lassman mucks.
The drinks are flowing and the jokes are getting worse (Carl Pilgrim opting out of the poker and into comedian role...) but everyone is in high spirits and there is some real poker being played here.

If Steve Roderick goes missing at the break.. he"s not dead. Honestly.
