WCOAP 2016 Updates Day 1 - #1 NLHE #2 8-GAME #3 Shootout
Luthee13:
#1 HOLDEM CHAMPIONSHIP
Following some issues with internet and technology in general...I have updates :)
I have spent the last hour or so at the table of Ian Thompson in the WCOAP #1 Hold'em Championship.
Not an awful lot to report, some very smooth poker, nothing too rash but a few hands of interest:
Hand 1
With blinds at 75/150, there are 2 callers from seats 5 and 9, Ian completes the small blind and the big blind checks.
First three cards are 5d 7d 7h
All four check and the turn is 8h
Ian checks, the big blind bets 425 and gets 2 callers, Ian gets out of the way.
The river is 6s and the big blind checks. There is a bet of 1000 from seat 5 which is quickly called by seat 9 and the big blind sigh folds.
Seat 5 shows As 4s for the straight and seat 9 shows Qc 8d for two pair. Seat 5 taking a nice pot.
Hand 2
Blinds are now at 200/400 with a running ante of 50 and Ian is in the big blind. There is a raise from Seat 6 to 1200. The small blind calls and Ian takes a peak and seems happy, he calls.
The dealer puts out 9s Qc 3s on the flop.
The small blind checks and Ian bets 1600. Seat 6 calls, as does the small blind.
The 6h turn got a check from the small blind and saw Ian move all in for around 5k.
Both players fairly swiftly fold and Ian shows KsQs and takes the pot.
More to follow asap now I appear to have appeased the technology gods...

#1 Hold'em Championship
Hand 3
Blinds still 200/400 and there is a raise pre flop from seat 4 to 1200.
Seat 5 calls and seat 6 makes a re raise to 3575. Seat 4 fold and seat 5 thinks on it for a moment, and calls.
The 9h 7d 7h flop gets checked by both players but the Kc on the turn brings the noise...sort of. Seat 5 checks and seat 6 moves all in for 6k and seat 6 goes deep into the tank.
After around 3 or 4 minutes of thinking, checking cards and counting the pot etc, he makes the call.
The player at risk shows AcKd and seat 6 shows 8s8c.
The river is an irrelevant Jd and seat 6 doubles up.

#1 Hold'em Championship.
Two hands later and we see a raise from seat 7 to 1600 provoke an all in from a very short stacked seat 2 for 2550.
Everyone else folds and the original raiser in seat 7 calls and quickly tables Qs Qc which brings groans from seat 2 as he flips his 5d 5s
Just to make sure, the first card on the flop is the Qd...followed by 3h Jc 2s 9d and we lose seat 2.
