Well played all.  Makes the end of the season exciting.  Provisionally for the last rankings event I think The Auck needs to finish at least three places in front of BigParka to equal his points at the top of the rankings and I think I need to finish 1st and BigParka not to get any points and I must finish about three places above TheAuck to finish with equal points for first place.

Ohhh the excitement

Think the rankings winner is going to be BigParka or the TheAuck.

On to the main event  :)

Well done y"all, esp to bigalhx3 (the newbie to Stud).

See y"all on the tables on Saturday.

BigAnorak:
I really enjoyed my first 7card stud tournament. Simon (TheAuck) and I were hanging on by our fingernails as we got nearer and nearer to the points. Fortunately for me his luck ran out before mine did, and I managed to pick up some more points, and very nearly got my eigth medal.

Congratulations to BigAlh  -we were at the same table all the way through, and he came back from being a very short stack and played really well.

All to play for on Saturday.

Roscopiko:
Congrats to all on the final table was another good tourney last night played in a great spirit despite the cruelties of stud.

Having gone into the final table as chip leader it all went wrong very quickly 5 handed as I represented the made flush with 4 spades showing Mair had 2 pair (1 showing) and took it all the way to 7th Street.

Now here was the big dilemma and where a lack of stud knowledge left me with a problem.

Having bet every street I was left with 8k chips (blinds 4k/8k) and first to act. I hummed and harred over sticking in my last 8k to a 55k (ish) pot as this was my only chance to win the pot having missed the flush but reasoned mair could not fold even 2 pair for the price she was getting so checked to stay in the game instead and find a better spot.

Any opinions? Would you have folded Mair?

AMRN:
that"s a tough spot, and I don"t know the "right" answer.

From my own perspective, having bet it all the way and put so much of my stack in the pot already, there"s no way I would check it down on 7th knowing I couldn"t win the pot, and only leaving myself with one Big Bet.   You are right that Mair shouldn"t fold if you bet 7th as she would be getting nearly 8:1 for her two pair...... BUT there is a chance she might fold having missed her full house believing you to have the flush.  I would prefer to go for that small chance of her folding rather than giving it up and being impossibly short stacked afterward.

Better to go out fighting in 5th place, than limp out in 5th place two hands later...... and you never know, she might fold and suddenly you have a decent stack of 8 Big Bets.

Gotta follow through and the stick it in on 7th.
