There is a decent chance of a British winner now, with two Brits on the final table, along with four Yanks, two French and an Argentinian. If you want poker to grow and get mainstream publicity, we need to hope that John Hesp wins. Salas and Pollak are reasonably interesting, but the most of the others are extremely boring and don't come across well on camera. If Ben Lamb wins it will put poker backwards.

Who do you want to win?

Well I wanted Craig McCorkell to win, but he's not there, so guess it has to be Mr Hesp!

Would just like to echo everybody else's thanks to John and Carl for running this year's competition again. I didn't do too well this year, but always next year! Well done to the winners.

STAKER

We have a winner of the Staker league. Shirley Cole adopted a straightforward approach to Staker - she put it all on her favorite player...........in every event. And it paid off big time. Shirley and Daniel go back a bit, and their relationship has never been fully explained, but we know that she has a soft spot for him. Here they are celebrating the news of Shirley's Staker win.

Shirley wins one of the most coveted prizes in poker - a Passport for the APAT World Championship of Amateur Poker, giving her entry to the Main Event plus two Side Events. There are rumours that Daniel is coming over to rail her in the Main Event. Unfortunately, APAT's no-pro rule means he can't take part, but he is allowed to represent Canada in the team event, if picked.

Glenn Laming and Dave Stones each win an APAT National Main Event entry for finishing second and third, and the rest of the Stakers listed win an APAT Online Main Event entry.

And there's more - the Staker with the best result in each event also receives a £10 online credit with Grosvenor Poker.

STAKER - Main Event Goliath Winners

In the separate Main Event Staker competition, the following were the most profitable and have all won Goliath Main Event entries:

         Staker          Stakes          Paid          Profit          1          Carl Pilgrim          £10,000          £176,399          £166,399          2          Charles Mason          £10,000          £52,920          £42,920          3          Ian Szerlowski         £8,000          £35,280          £27,280          4          Ross Freeman          £10,000          £36,257          £26,257          5          Del Watson          £10,000          £36,257          £26,257          6          Suzanne Hayward          £10,000          £26,761          £16,761          7          Luca Cannella          £3,000          £17,640          £14,640          8          Adam Szerlowski        £10,000          £24,509          £14,509          9          Samuel Greenwood          £10,000          £23,036          £13,036          10          Kevin McDermott          £10,000          £18,129          £8,129

Max Silver and Charlie Carrel have a lot to answer for. The only winners who didn't get there courtesy of one of them were Luca, who had Dario Sammartino and Adam, who picked Conor Drinan.

The most dedicated Staker in the Main Event was Alan Ellis, who staked 50 players at £200 each. He did have both Max Silver and Kenny Hallaert but, with just 2% of each, the returns weren't enough to make up for the players who let him down and lift him into the top ten.

There will be a Szerlowski family double-representation in the Goliath from this promotion. They have had an amazing run in the WSOP, with Adam taking second place in the Fantasy League and Ian also winning an online entry in the overall Staker competition. Luca and Kevin were also double-winners, winning online APAT entries to go with their Goliath seats.

Congrats to all.
