There was serious controversy on the final table of this one. With four players left, Sam Soverel opened and Dmitry Yurasov shoved. Ben Heath was considering his action and used a time chip, which Soverel took to be Heath's cards, and he folded behind. Heath then called quickly and eliminated Yurasov. Soverel gained from the elimination, but did he deliberately make Heath's call easier? Several top players think he did. and have said he should be disqualified.

Danny O knocked the smirk off my face by topping the field here with Petrangelo and Kenney.

Dan Zack finally won his bracelet on his 8th final table. Surprisingly, no-one picked him and just as surprising was that only Joe picked Turner, the legendary online player PearlJammer. Zack was shortstacked for two and a half days, absolutely last for a lot of it, but hung around for ever with almost no chips. Don't you hate players like that - good job we don't have any in APAT.

Who has written off Hellmuth? Not 28 of our selectors. Well done to all of you who have stuck with him. Yet another top performance from Phil, this time online. This was a tough event - I can see several other top names who didn't make our teams scattered down the list of cashers, so it's clear that Hellmuth must still be at the top of his game.

This wasn't your standard $10k pro-heavy small-field tournament. Short decks, small stacks and antes only led to a bloodbath, with the event finishing a day early. 61 entries were reduced to 18 by the end of Day 1, yet another 51 entered on Day 2, shortstacked with just 30 antes. And it ended with someone playing their first WSOP tournament beating all the seasoned professionals.
Kornuth should have been eliminated early, all-in pre-flop with 99 against JJ and KT, and ending up with quads on a 9TAT9 runout for a treble-up. He used those chips to become chip-leader near the end and finished 4th. There was no heads-up, with the tournament being decided on a three-way pre-flop all-in

We had some minor cashes in this, including Cada squeezing in three places off the bottom, but no-one went deep. The final table consisted of nine players who all achieved vastly higher results than ever before. Jonathan managed to get half his team into the points.
And well done to our own Dave Stones - not only an LPPL and APAT player, but a selector in this competition. If only he'd chosen himself, he'd have doubled one of his team's scores.
