insta fold imo. could quite easily do this with 88 99 1010 and you only need to come in top 5, why do you need to race?

AMRN:
Regardless of the form of tournament poker, I never understand why anyone would want to CALL for their stack with a small pair knowing they are either at worst an 18% underdog to an overpair, or at best c50% racing against two overcards. Unless he holds an unpaired 6 or lower, the best you are hoping for is a coin flip.  Why would you want to ship in your whole stack when you have such a low chance of winning the hand?

Even if your read is right in this example and he has AQ or AK, you"re still only a marginal favourite - in these DoN SNGs there really is no need to take this sort of risk when you still have a reasonable stack. It came good for you this time, but it"s definitely -EV long term.

77 is a shoving hand, but certainly not one to call with.

In a sit and go this is a turbo muck. In an MTT it"s much closer dependant on blinds and antes and your stack size but certainly from an utg shove, you should not be calling off here esp a DON
