That is, where has the RECENT UNREAD TOPICS link gone from the forum page?

Still there for me.  Next to your avatar, should be "Show unread posts since last visit"

I didnt even have an avatar any more!!  Just found a + button on the right hand side to open up that area of the screen. sorted now :)
