Luky and Chip build a bankroll

Nope, no poker for me this weekend but I will be keeping updated with events from Dublin on the laptop whilst basking in the HeatWave.

I had this picture of Neil and Jules sat around this monitor in the middle of nowhere (well it is Scotland) watching the cards and bets. I understand she is a better player than him, so was probably explaining to him what was going on. ;D

She isn"t better than me (she has her moments in home games) and she really only likes poker when she sees me winning or playing in my most focused state. She is a good sounding board for my bad beat tales (of which there are many) and is as supportive of my hobbies (poker and golf) as you can get. Supportive enough that for Christmas I got permission in advance to have 4 weekends away without her.
We only watch poker together if someone we know is running well. She just gets caught up in my excitement for others really.

The Roadshow last week was unfruitful with 50% of the BuyIns coming from this joint fund (£35 down). It was a sober affair ... maybe that"s where I went wrong :-[

Well, it was all going so well up to the dinner break. Without getting involved in anything really major, I had built a stack up to around 24k.
I then lost a few small pots after dinner and made a major error in a hand that cost me half my stack. On a board of Q T 6 T 6, I had been chasing a flush draw and open ended straight draw and then decided to bet out this scary board on the river. I got called by Richard Hinds holding AQ and that dented me considerably. A great call though.
I short while later and the same player has raised to 2100 on the button, in the big blindm I"ve got AJ and shove my 6.5k in the middle. Richard says "How do I get myself into these spots" as he"s already counting out the chips. I thought I was in a spot of bother. Neither wanted to show their hands and as the flop started being dealt we had both flipped over and Richard showed KJ. I looked to see a King on the flop, and I thought that was it. A Queen gave me hope of a straight, but it wasn"t to be.
Having seen some of the hands over the weekend, getting your chips in ahead in this game is very much overrated.
No complaints though. I got myself into that position with my one and only bluff of the day. ;D
So, nothing for the joint bankroll, to be honest, that trophy would have been a bugger to cut up and split between us anway. ;D
Roll on Edinburgh, where I hope we will both be playing.

I got to play the 55 euro freezeout at the Fitz last night, once the APAT game had finished. Late entry for the first hour, so sat down at a table with James Edwards two to my right. A great tournament, very much up and down time.
Scouse then bought in and took the seat to my immediate left. I think he managed about 12 minutes in total before getting knocked out. Very funny stuff.
All sorts of hands going on. I had a couple of mad laydowns.
I folded ah 7h on a board of 8d ac ad1 jd when the guy shoves all-in on the turn.
Then next hand, after raising pre flop with th ts and getting a caller, the board of jd ac ad and an all-in shove, scared me off.
Eventually went out to an elderly local chap by the name of Paddy. He had limped into a pot on my big blind. I had js 9s, the flop came 6d jh kc, so it seemed as good a place as any to get my remaining stack in.
Now Paddy has already been dealt aces twice, kings once and flopped quad 3"s since I"ve been sitting at the table, so I"m thinking he can"t keep hitting. He calls quite quickly, and I think I"m in trouble. He"s got kd jc and that"s me done for.
In the time it took me to get up the stairs to say goodbye to a few people, James was following. I said "Have they split the table then ?"
He replied, "No, I"m out, shoved all-in to isolate a shorter stack with pocket Jacks, she had Tens I think. The Big Blind woke up with pocket Aces and knocked them both out"
The dealers at The Fitz are evil at times (But also very good) ;D

Great blog lads and I hope the bankroll grows like my back lawn in the coming weeks, erm without the occasional mow as it were. :D

Was your trip Aces fold correct - did the person show - I think I am calling that one.
