Qualifiers for National events
Buck Pete:
Couple of questions?
Are overall ranking points being awarded for all regional qualifiers - live and online?
so effectively i need to play the live regional qualifier and both online qualifiers to enhance my ranking points tally?
If i already won a seat through a live regional will i receive the £75 seat money in cash should I by some miracle finish high enough? (think i asked this in another thread - sorry). Or ar you going to change the rules and let us carry seats over to the next live event? (go on).

Unless all the regionals sell out, it will be something along the figure that Jon mentioned.
A question that has been asked, but not answered (as far as I"m aware) is the one relating to the number of points that will be awarded at the regional events. Will they too be awarded to the top 10% or 11%(or whatever percentage is deemed correct)?

It says on the list of Regionals that the top 9 places get ranking points. (Same as the online events in Season 1)

Yes, but I don"t think that"s been thought through properly. What if there are only 8 runners?
It would mean that towards the end of the season, people will travel to particular regional events to ensure they have a better opportunity to score points for the leaderboard.
It should really be on a pro-rata basis, in the same way the seats are allocated.

I think that"s just unfortunate... if I travel 70 miles to my nearest regional event and win it (hypothetical case obviously!!), why should I score less or more points than any other winner? I have no control over how many people turn up.
I mean who is going travel all the way to Plymouth for an easier point or two, just because they only have 3 men, a dog and a pasty who turn up regularly?
kinboshi:
That"s certainly an issue - and I agree that people shouldn"t be penalised because their venue is less popular than another.
But look at the flip side. Someone who plays well and battles through to finish 3rd out of 80 only gets the same points as someone who beats 3 men, but gets beaten by a dog and a pasty. That also isn"t fair. Someone shouldn"t be penalised for their local venue being popular.
But then again, who said anything about life being fair?

Hey guys take it easy on the plymoth leg of this. Some of the pasties and dogs down here are bloody hard to beat. I for one will be travelling the whole 50 miles regularly for the regionals and am sure many others from down here will too.

My apologies to dogs & pasties everywhere... I was originally going to use something about skirts & haggi (plural of haggis?) in my example, but you know how sensitive they can be on the other side of the wall!! :D
