HORSE Event - Dealers

<< < (5/8) > >>

Barnfather:
I have played at DTD a number of times. Dealer-wise it is mostly fine, although I have had a couple of occasions where I have had a problem with them - but it is usually lack of concentration rather than anything else. I played when the recent Amir Khan boxing match was playing on the LCDs, and the game on my table became chaotic when the dealer kept watching the TV, forgetting where the dealer button should be, forgetting to collect antes, allowing actions out of turn etc...

Its actually amazing how quickly the games turn to crap when the dealers mind is elsewhere. From a players perspective, it is tough too as you need focus. Actually, my biggest complaint with DTD is that they shouldn"t have big sporting events on the tournament-area LCDs - especially ones which sit right next to the gaming tables. If people want to watch TV they should go in the lounge area IMO

Obv I haven"t seen them deal a non HE event, so seeing how they cope with HORSE should be fun. I am sure they will be well trained, and I suspect they will need to be given the lack of live stud/razz/Omaha hi-lo experience I guess most of the field will have.

The point about live experience is well-made. I played a HORSE event at The International a while ago, where most of the players, like me, had only played HORSE online. The biggest issue that kept coming up was how much you were allowed to bet on the various streets, particularly in the stud games, which you don"t have to think about on-line, as the limits are defined for you. The whole thing was great fun though, especially the bit at the end of each hand where we all tried to figure out who had won.

Only took me about 10 hours to get the hang of that when I played my first live razz game  ;D
