I had a question from an APATer about flying into London for the UK tourney and which airport is best.
In my opinion, if you have a choice, Heathrow would be your best option as it"s on the Underground and will get you to the Vic with a little changing around. It also has overground rail links but these cost more although the Heathrow Express will have you in Paddington in a jiffy.
The Undergound is cheaper but, of course, the Express is quicker.
See Transport For London website.
Gatwick and Stansted both have decent overground rail links to central London but LHR is the way I would go.
Cheers,
Paulie

Someone asked that during a Blonde cash game I was playing the other day, and I can safely say that your answer is most superior to anything we came up with.
Nice one Paul.

Luton...I suppose we"ll have to call it a "London" airport....easily overlooked...as I did.

I just meant really that if you can do a discount airline into luton or stanstead for that matter the overall travel time isn"t that much greater than going to heathrow, and far less than into Gatwick
Yet the overall trip cost would be cheaper, or could be

Yeah...true.
TBH the player was coming from Scotland and so Luton might be an option.
I confess to a preference to LHR for my own travel (in the past) purely because it was doddle for me to ge to when to I was motor-less. Underground all the way with one change at Baron"s Court. Nowadays I prefer to drive as it"s simple spin round the M25
When planning travel for my firm, Luton tends to get overlooked, mostly because it"s not well supported by the airlines. I think EasyJet have a lock (don"t they own Luton?) and we treat it as a last resort.
I do a lot of travel booking for my firm and I"ll have to do a sticky on some of the lesser known search tools and money saving options around.
