hi all just wondering what the ruling is for telling your cards whilst in play
thx in advance

AMRN:
seems to vary. I"ve played in casinos where you"re allowed to show a card whilst your opponent is making a decision, but most places seem to disallow this.... in fact, many places nowadays say that if you show your hand to anyone, even someone not playing at the table, your hand is declared dead.
Also, I believe you"re allowed to intimate the content of your hand verbally, so long as you don"t spell out your specific holding... so I guess that by that ruling it would be ok to lie about your hand, but not to tell the truth :)
AJDUK:
Can also differ in cash vs tourneys.

thx guys after all it is a game to win via the best hand or a bluff, if everyone could say what they have then everyone may aswell be allin every hand with no betting structure,
the reason i ask, is i was playing on a site and someone before me went allin and announced his cards with players to act
i do play a lot of live poker and never come across anyone telling there cards
there maybe players trying to guess what u have for info but thats it so thx again anymore views welcome
p.s would like to say what a great site this is and hopefully play some live poker with u all soon

This is a common belief. Are you able to identify a rule that states you cannot specify your cards? My understanding is that there was such a rule but I"m sure I have read that it was rescinded last year or the year before.
