That"s fair enough.

Might be an idea to charge an admin fee for qualifiers who subsequently pull out of an event.  Maybe remove £10 of the £75 that is refunded to them?

I assume you mean online qualifiers?

Do I?

As the regional qualifiers have other things to play for.

How does that affect them if they pull out after qualifying for a National?  The £75 refund for their seat would be £65.

Because they participated in a tournament and won £x... NOT £(x-10).

If APAT are going to go down this road then they must pay out in full at regionals, and then email the top 10% a payment link to take up their seats. As Jon said, the regional tournaments are part of a regional championship... the top 10% win the right to purchase a national seat... it should not be compulsory.

I"m sure you are aware Daniel, that one of tikay"s most strongly held views is that tournament prize pools are sacresanct... what you are proposing ammounts to APAT removing money from the prize pool (albeit after the event).

Online satellites, yes, if need be charge a cancellation fee... Regionals NO, NON, NIET!!!

I"m with you.

I agree that if they win the right to a seat, that they should be given a certain amount of time to claim that seat, and if they don"t it becomes another available via the click-fest.  Once they take up the seat allocation, then the admin fee for a refund could be implemented.

Loads of satellites don"t let you cancel your seat if you win.

£7.50 charge if you cancel your seat doesn"t seem that unreasonable for a live tournament.  Most casinos don"t make seats transferrable.

It"s not a Satellite, per se. If it was a straight forward satellite, with a flat payout, and no other components to prize (points, medals etc), then I would agree.

Good post Rio,

During an early discussion on the forum in regards to paying for seats, I had highlighted that taking the fee from the regional pot would cause extra admin if/when someone who had won a seat in a live regional did not want to take up their seat. Agree that all money in prizepool should be paid out and seat winners then state their intention to play and then pay by a link provided.

APAT,

Do we have numbers of live regional seat winners who have in fact not taken up their seats in the national events so far?
