Best Poker book for beginners?
Slugger:
Can anyone recomend a good beginners poker book? I"m pretty new to the game but I"m being bombarded with well intentioned advice from all quarters - and a lot of it seems to be contradictory! Help.
Philippos13:
get dan harrington on holdem... vol 1 and vol 2
you cannot go wrong with that especially as a beginner
it is the most solid book on texas hold em i believe
WarBwastardo:
"Poker for Dummies" if you an absolute beginner is a great foundation to build from. Then you should have a look see at the Harrington books and the Theory of poker by David Sklansky.
lukybugur:
Get yourself a subscription to PokerPlayer Magazine (hello again Sponsor - yes, I"m still a loyal subscriber!) and InsidePoker (also by Dennis Publishing). Both are consistently very good reads with IP having the best tutorials for beginners and intermediates IMO.
You can learn sooo much more by playing though and learning from your hopefully not-too-costly mistakes.
