I have had inside info from a Thomas Cook pilot that there will "VERY likely" be direct flights from Glasgow in the "very near future". Apparently they ran a trial back in September and it sold out in less than 24 hours. The sheer hope is forcing me to wait "til around April / May before I book my summer holiday.

The flights are now available for booking - Thursday 17th November back 24th November - £592. Checking a few other details and might just book shortly....
