Santino67:
So 2010 is close to drawing to an end and here"s a little summary of the start and end of the year for myself. As usual, like most peoples, it"s had it"s highs and lows. Christmas and New Year tends to be a low key affair for me as I work part-time in NHS 24"s out of hours health service, meaning that I work when surgeries don"t. Last year ended with a set of crutches on Christmas Eve as i damaged my knee ligaments. Can"t even blame the ice & snow of last winter, one of my drunken female colleagues fell on me at our work"s night out  ::)

This year ended with another unfortunate story, with some amusement at the expense of yours truly. An old family friend now living in Hereford informed me through facebook that his older brother Martin had been murdered just a few weeks ago. He updated through social networking of the date, time and venue for the funeral arrangements and I duly attended as agreed. Once in the crematorium and the doors closed a sense of doom fell on me......yes, I was at the wrong service! Not being the rude type I endured the cremation of a complete stranger, bowed my head for the exiting bereaving family and left with my tail between my legs!

The rest of the year I"ll contribute in the run up to Hogmanay.

2010 Part 1

So the year got off to a good start in the shape of my first ever new car, a lovely little 1.0 Toyota Aygo Blue. The scrappage scheme was too tempting to get rid of my old petroholic 1.8 Toyota Carina. My new wee car i named... Sammy Aygo

Named after the slightly well know lower league footballer Sammy Igoe

Unfortunately due to my aforementioned illness, poker took a back seat and I had very little play in the first half of the year. I did though follow my other love of music as normal and the gig scene kicked off again in February with a visit to see one of my first loves The Stranglers. Other gig highlights through this spell were Groove Armada, Turin Brakes and Ash.

May 2010 brought a nice trip to Inverary and June at last saw the removal of my hated gall bladder. The first half of 2010 came to a satisfactory end and I looked forward to July, getting back to the tables and the wonder that is T In The Park music festival  :)

Santino67:
So my poker for 2010 has now ended with a very disappointing 50th of 131 runners in Betfairs $22 game. To be honest this month has been pretty awful on the felt so I"m glad of the break. A mixture of awful cards, too many distractions, poor play and ugly draws when the cards did flip has left me with a bankroll of $1750. Still doing well from my £50 start-up investment so ain"t complaining

Here"s a few highlights from my Betfair tourneys in the past few months, immortalised for my own benefit of course  8)

hi guys, thanks very much for your kind comments! as promised a wee update from the baldy one!

well the fire service is going great, I never thought I could enjoy being at work so much.  I"m not a fully fledged firey yet, I"ve got my final assessments in July/Aug before my training period is done.  I"m also back playing basketball again having found my love for the game again and following my beloved La Lakers closely.

as for poker, the double weekly visits to the casino and online play have been pretty much reduced to a home game every couple of months with some guys from work (the lack of play has def affected my game, you gotta be playing regular to keep up confident play and good decisions, which i found out at last nights home game at the cost of £40  ::) i was also reminded of the pleasures of being card dead then finally picking up queens only to run into aces, as well as the joys of bad beats  :"().   i dabbled again recently with some low stakes online stuff but i def prefer live play.  the casino doesn"t really suit my work routine tho.  hopefully I"ll be able to play some live apat next year.

I hope santa was good to you all and wish you all a happy, prosperous and quad filled 2011  8)

and remember "this is your life and its ending one minute at a time" so that thing you"ve been thinking about doing DAE IT!!

Santino67:
Great to hear from you Billy, glad everythings going well for you mate. Hope you do make it back to the APAT arena in 2011, I"m so glad I got the opportunity at Coventry and highly recommend it. Shame though that I"ve taken away your Bubble Boy crown (for the time being anyway  :D )

Happy New Year to you and Shaz, and to everyone at APAT a very prosperous 2011  8)
