Been grinding the cash tables and low stakes MTT's over the last couple of weeks. This, combined with long work days, mean that I seem to have been running on auto pilot at the tables.

Had a great night last night, played both the satellites, got through both. Really pleased as gives my bankroll a nice boost. I played my normal game but felt the benefit of getting good cards and flipping well. The standout hand was probably with 10 left in the Coventry sat. I picked up AA, all the chips went in against someone with KK. 5 handed its pretty sick, but made me massive chip leader and from there on just folded my way in.

First impressions of 888 are good. Was a bit unsure at first as a lot of the smaller tournaments do not include antes. I have spent some time playing 6 tables of $6NL and it seems pretty soft. Lots of players dumping their money in the middle with squat. Also had a go on the six max web cam tables, bizarre but quite fun for an hour. Seeing someone's face when you suck out on them on the river is priceless.

Really looking forward to the online event on Saturday and will give the Omaha a bash too. Aim is to play every APAT event possible online including the league events for Solent. Going to try and amass the ranking points this season. Coventry next weekend will be a good one, am still contemplating whether to get a hotel or not. As its only an 90min drive, I may not bother. Not decided whether to play the side event on the Sunday, need to start to learn Omaha in my lunch hours..

Nothing wrong with sleeping in the car in the Casino car park! ;)

Seconded. Made the mistake last year when playing the Worlds of thinking "it"s only an hour and a half away". Subsequently made it to Day Two leaving DTD at 3 am to drive home having been totally zoned in to the table and drinking Red Bull to stay awake and focused. The drive home was absolutely hideous. People underestimate firstly, how much concentration poker takes and secondly how much concentration motorway driving takes.

My advice - unless it"s a short journey home don"t bother. Besides, if you get knocked out you can always join the other APATers for a few "quiet" drinks at the bar.  ;)

Booked hotels for most of the season already. Only one i"m not is Coventry but that"s 40 minutes away from me. Well, an hour according to Google Maps but not the way i drive at 3 in the morning!
