Sunday Hundred Grand Tourney on PokerStars for $11
Jon MW:
I"ll have a look at upcoming tournaments on PS around 7 to be on the safe side. :)
I"m not working on Monday so I thought I might give this tourney a bash.
ThePiranha:
i came 6th in this comp about 6-7 months ago, and been playing it approx once every 2 weeks since, and no matter what i do i cant seem to cash in it anymore lol.
If you had 60k and got blinded down to 37k, i think that you need to look into your strategy in high blinded situations. If you have 37k and steal, you gain an extra 15% on your stack, gotta be worth doing surely? The most important point is that it is never about what hand you have, its about what hand they have. Its gotta be worth trying for the sake of $11?
The Codd:
You can qualify for it for as little as $1 too :D

Whilst the extra chips are worth having, the trouble with this approach is that the extra 15% to your stack is still leaving you in a critical situation. When you steal the blinds, I"m assuming you"re doing it with any two pretty much now as you"re getting desperate? Well, why can"t you do that at 60k? The blinds will be slightly lower and you have a better chance of pushing someone off a hand. If you"re down at 37k, you stand a better chance of being called by a bigger stack or perhaps even the blinds as they may be getting the odds to call with any two.
This is one tourney you can"t afford to hang around for decent cards in. The blinds are just crazy in relation to the chip stacks in the later stages, you just need to get in first and hope for the best.
Obviously if you are lucky enough to pick up decent hands then it"s not a problem, but we don"t always get that lucky.
Just my POV :)

great research!
when are effective M calculations really needed?
I know harrington mentions it for short handed tables, and I only really use it for 6 or 5 handed. If we are on stars do we multiply our basic M by 0.9? I dont bother tbh.
