I think it"s classed, at worst, as "Trespass" which is, AFAIK, a civil, not criminal, offence.
Kind of like doing a runner from a taxi...unless he catches you there is nothing he can do except track you down if he can and take you to court.
In practice the costs in doing so outweigh any amount they might recover.
