Clearly increasing the field from usual c8,000 to 60,000 doesn"t have as great an impact on the tournament timing as I thought it would. 9:20am and they are down to bubble for last two tables.

the blinds and anti dictate when a comp finishes not how many runners

I am pretty sure the number of runners must have some effect!
If you double the number of runners you need to wait for the blinds and antes to double to get to the same point -all other things equal ...

Didnt watch the final table, but what time did it finish in the end? and how deep were stacks etc once the final started.

12:06 finish
stacks at start of final ranged from 10x to 100x

there just been the UKIPT with over 1000 runners 15k starting stack 1hr clock 2 day1 and a day 2 and a final table on the 3rd day ,compare that to the GUKPT had about 300 runners 15k starting stack 1hr clock 2 day1 and a day 2 with the final on the 3rd day

been thinking about this a bit - clearly when there are more runners, there are more tables, more hands in parallel, and therefore more concurrent knockouts.... it"s only when the tables start to diminish that the tourney slows down as there are less knockouts in parallel - so yes I agree with Alan... the impact of more runners has a minimal effect on the length of the tourney.
