If we looked to merge them, we"d have to call the new club "Birmingham Poker Club"
If the Walsall captain and team were happy with that, then I"ll look into it further.
I do agree, that you are geographically very close, but when we set them up, it was done around casino locations.
I will see what the Walsall reply is to this thread.

Is it up to them?
If you allow most of the best players in APAT to merge into one team, this might well be the outcome:

merge forces and rule the division for evermore

Given that it"s about 15 minutes from Walsall to Birmingham anyone who lives near one clearly lives near the other therefore they"d still be playing for a local club. Isn"t it down to the players to choose which team they play for?

I hear what you are saying John, and it"s not their decision to make, I"m simply getting some opinions.
In this case, Walsall and Birmingham are so close together, and Birmingham only get a handful of players each week, it would sensible to review the possibility.
Very similar to when we merged Southampton and Portsmouth, or the very recent merger of North and South London.
We started off with 30 locations, but knew some wouldn"t get as many players as others, it"s just being practical.

It"s for APAT to decide the structure and then the players can choose their teams.

Indeed, so it"s perfectly valid for Walsall players to join Birmingham or vice versa. But if all the Walsall players join Brum then it"s effectively a merger as there"s no point in having a Walsall team with no players.
Chipaccrual:
I would agree with that, there are only a couple of clubs where I would consider doing this, having been sat with a map of the UK and Ireland for a few minutes. Birmingham and Walsall is one, and Newcastle and Sunderland is the other (Like that will ever happen ;) )
